The best Superhero film of recent years until this years Spiderman 3 anyway. Batman Begins. Christopher Nolan is a fantastic director and Im hoping this will be just as good as Batman Begins.
Cast and characters
Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne / Batman: A billionaire who has dedicated himself to being the vigilante protector of Gotham City in the form of Batman, the Dark Knight.
Heath Ledger as The Joker: A criminal who has a "taste for theatrics" , and after committing a robbery and a double homicide at the end of the first movie, leaves a Joker playing card at the scene of the crime.
Gary Oldman as Lieutenant James Gordon: A member of the Gotham City Police Department who is one of the few uncorrupted officers in Gotham City.
Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent: The district attorney of Gotham City and the replacement of Carl Finch.
Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth: Bruce Wayne's trusted butler who tends to Wayne Manor.
Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox: The recently-promoted CEO of Wayne Enterprises who had supplied Bruce Wayne with the gear necessary to carry out Batman's mission.
Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes: The assistant district attorney under Harvey Dent.
Two face under the guise of Aaron Eckhart may or may not make an appearance apparantly, there are conflicting news stories about that one.
THe big news is that about halfway through the film the Bat Suit changes and is apparantly a major plot point.
Bring it on. Still not sure about Ledger as the Joker. Should have been Ryan Reynolds although he may be better suited to the Riddler.
I can't wait :D:D:D I love batman (More than Spiderman :S) I think Heath Ledger will play the role ok, but not as well as Jack Nickelson. I do think Christian Bale is the best Batman ever.
Batman is better because it's darker. Spiderman is a Geek, and always does the right thing. Batman is like The Punisher, he's not in it to be good he just wants Vengence by anymeans neccessary.
Not that I don't like spiderman you understand. I just prefer the idea of an Anti-Hero more so than someone who goes out of their way to up hold the law.
No he's not. Batman is someone who was rich enough to develop some beasty suit and decided to take the law into his own hands from there and it was only once Frank Miller got his hands on Batman did he ever become anywhere near the vigilante you claim him to be.
Batman is brilliant, better than spiderman by far Batman doesn't need any superpowers he's just hard as.. on the topic I'm analysing the original batman film for my media GCSE had to make a poster for it, here it is:
No, you're right. Batman doesn't need powers, all he needs is to be the head of a multi-billion dollar trans-national corporation. You want a real rock 'ard superhero, look towards Frank Castle AKA The Punisher.
Yeah the punisher is awesome, but Batman was originally created as a socialist figure combatting the corrupted elements of a capitalist gotham city, odd to say hes a billionaire or something
he's certainly more Gritty than the Cartoonish stylings of the joker in the first film. hopefully he can add some canny acting skills to back up the part.
A special effects technician working on the new Batman film was killed when a vehicle he was in crashed while on a stunt test run. The accident happened off-set and there was no filming taking place, movie company Warner Bros Pictures said.
The victim was on a camera truck which was following a stunt vehicle, believed to have been the Batmobile.
An ambulance spokeswoman said he was pronounced dead at a test track in Longcross, near Chertsey, in Surrey.
Warner Bros said in a statement: "There was a fatal accident at a special effects facility for Batman: The Dark Knight.
"A technician on the film died when the truck he was in struck a tree following a test run.
"Warner Bros Pictures and the entire cast and crew of The Dark Knight are deeply saddened by this tragedy, and their hearts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased."
'Stunt driving'
The accident, just before 1450 BST on Monday, is being investigated by Surrey Police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The HSE confirmed two vehicles were on a "filming production exercise".
A spokesman said: "It appears one vehicle was undertaking some stunt driving and another 4x4 provided the camera platform.
"The second vehicle and a camera operator were involved in a collision with a tree."
Batman: The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman, is due to be released in UK cinemas next summer.
This movie looks awsome, i had seen a few pics of Ledger as the Joker, and he sure doesnt look too bad, these movies are certainly alot darker than the original series (which i think is alot better in that respect) so yea, i cant wait to see this one come out
Hot damn!!! I've finally caught up with the trailer, and it looks FRICKIN' AWESOME!!! I totally agree with the Matt-ster on this one. It will become this years BIGGEST movie by far, though not just because of Heath Ledger's untimely demise ( look at what the death of Brandon Lee did for The Crow ), but because it looks lke it's gonna be an incredible movie.
I agree. Thought the suit would be more original, sticking with the theme of BM Begins. But a suit wont make or break a film! Unless they went to using Adam West's suit. That might well break it. Apart from places like Brighton and San Fransisco!
Nice logo :). I always liked the original batman film Logo (the Black bat on the yellow/gold background).Looking forward to watching this though i didnt really enjoy the first Bale Batman film so much.
It's been a while since we have had any Dark Knight updates, so this blurry picture of Arron Eckhart as Two Face is cool... Yes I know it's only the toy figure, but at least it will give us some idea of what he will look like...
Aaron Eckhart has now confirmed in an interview that Two Face does indeed make an appearance in The Dark Knight. Excerpt stolen from AICN and is below...
Does Harvey get scarred in this movie or will we have to wait until the next one to see that?
Harvey Dent turns into Harvey Two-Face in this movie. So that answers your question better. [Laughs]
Have you filmed a lot of scenes in makeup?
I have done scenes as Harvey Two-Face. Its interesting. I wont tell you exactly what were going for, but I think that I can say that it will use all of todays technology to create this character. Hes going to be interesting, and I think thats what makes this character important in the movieyou get to see him as he was before, as in the comic books. Harvey is a very good guy in the comic books. Hes judicious. He cares. Hes passionate about what he loves and then he turns into this character. So you will see that in this film.
The Dark Knight viral ad campaign team have swung back into action. This time not trying to get you to get photos of yourself as the Joker but now supporting future villian Harvey 'Two-Face' Dent's mock election campaign.
Well the Viral campaign has stepped up in recent weeks, for any of you who have been following it. The current set of clues pertain to an operation Slipknot which is all about Gordon trying to catch some corrupt cops. Currently the thinking is that it will end up revealing then new trailer, but in the midst it threw a curve ball and served up this....
Well the next part of the Viral campaign, you can take part in. If you can get to St.James Park London at 9pm tomorrow (Monday), if you are one of the first 300 there, then you are in for a treat. It is currently rumoured to be a private screening of the new trailer, plus you'll get some DK goodies, plus an invite to a preview screening... I might be there.
Well I took part in the next section of the viral game last night. I was one of the Oracles (Online helpers) to the Clowns on the Ground (CotG) who following and working out a bunch of clues got them to the Odeon Leicester Sq where they got to see the new TDK trailer. One of the lucky ones in the crowd even got a film reel of said trailer (Which turned out o have been vadalised by the Joker) then with the clues gathered from the viral game this lead to a website: http://whysoserious.com/sittingducks. that site was a clever puzzle. Basically the ducks move along and the gaps represented a binary code which spelt out happytrails so then you add that to the end of the WSS URL and that lands you where the new trailer will appear on Sunday at some point!!
With all the shenanigans over Monday night the 'winners' who got the trailer and were told to get it out to the masses. Finally someone has managed it and here is the 'Jokerized' version of the trailer.
Look for potential clues for the next viral people.....
