The Dragonriders Of Pern

I dont know if any of you guys are into sci-fi type of films altho its not aliens or whatever. In a way its like Lord Of The Rings, although not quite as good.

The Film sets to come out in 2008 from what i hear on IMDB

The Dragonriders Of Pern is a trilogy consisting of;

Dragonflight
Dragonquest
The White Dragon


Currently i am finishing off The White Dragon and its been a really good trilogy, sure its taken a while but its well worth a read. And i suggest to all of you to read the books so that you can see the film in 2008.

Its mostly to see the film so thats why its in the film forum :P

and its always better to read the books as you will btter appreciate the film, seeing who gets to go F'lar, and who does the voice of Mnemneth :O!

it looks like another hopefully 3 fantastic films since the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

and if anyones read them or heard of them, say! :P

Fantasy films are always hit and miss as they either rely to much on he special effects and not enough on the actual stories. But if they are adapted from novels - like LOTR - then you are in with a fighting chance of getting something decent.

I must confess I've not heard of this series. The last fantasy type novel I read were the first three "Shanara" books by Terry Brooks and that was 15 years ago!

Any big names attached to this film or is it a smaller project?

they havent given anything away about it yet at all, but im hoping it will be big, myabe not on the scale of LOTR but it well could be; these books are possibly one of the most popular science fiction books of the past.

if you ever get offered one or see it at your local library (muahaha) take a look :D!

and i'd say big names could should go in it

According to Wiki, there are 18 books in the entire series. Concentrating on the first trilogy for the films appears to be a prudent move... smile.gif

it does and i think they are better than the other 15 anyway. by the end of the film you will want to be a dragonrider of benden hahah
