Is anyone else a fan of this anime based on the game series? I have the first 4 dvds of the show and its excellent viewing, not the best anime you can find of course but great fun.The anime while based on the games, dont focus on any of the characters of the Video games but star 2 young children, a young woman and a strange guy who carries a very powerful sword with which he can destroy almost anyone with in an instant. The Chocobos, the magic, the summons and other things assosiated with the games are often in the anime which is great, espicially the theme song at the end which is great! Anyone else watch this? I believe there is a manga to, im not certain.
I've seen Final Fantasy The Spirits Within and found it really confusing for most of the film, but that was a CGI film and probably not what your talking about. I've heard of the games but not played any of them, which is probably why when people talk about them I get confused.
It seems to me from what I have seen of the many Final Fantasy games that they seem to change totally with each version. Unlike other games where they carry similar characters or storyline forward with each version, but maybe I have this completely wrong as I haven't played them and it's just what I think from the clips I have seen.
So is the anime based on a certain version of the game or if not how does it cover the various different versions?
Well, for the movie "the spirits within" its basically nothing to do with the Final Fantasy game series, bar only it sharing the title. There is 2 movies on final fantasy, the first being the one you saw and the second being "avent children" which is a top class CGI effort that is a movie sequal to the Final Fantasy 7 game, I wouldnt suggest anyone to watch that though without playing the game because most of the plot talks about events what happened in the game series, pretty comfusing for non fans i would say :).You're right about the games, each of them is vastly different in every way, from the stories to the characters, they never follow on from the previous one to the next, (apart from FFX which had a sequal but it doesnt count because it was so poor!)
The anime of Final Fantasy is a completley different thing, there is no attatchment from the anime to any of the games, but what the anime does tell is its own story in the world of a final fantasy game, the chocobos, the distinctive theme song, the unique characters, the worlds, the magic and the monsters, most have been lifted from the games or designed like they were from an FF game, if this makes sense.Really its just an anime version of the video game with its own new story, new characters, monsters, ect ect.Im not great at describing things but i hope this makes a little sense Nymvette ^^!
no problem, your right, basically the anime is just based on the world, its style of characters, the magic ect, the things usually in the game, but all done in an original way for the anime :).Im no MIB but i am glad to help ^-^.
I have to confess I'm fairly uneducated about the whole Final Fantasy franchise myself.
I saw FF - The Spririts Within and apparently the only connection with that and the rest of the franchise is that it was written by the same people who wrote the oriignal FF concept.
I have the FF 7 - Advent Children CGI film and whilst the DVD version I have comes with a 30 minute Anime to explain the backstory and the film does kind of work as a stand alone piece, I have been told that having a fundamental knowledge of the basic concept and characters is very helpful. Which of course I didn't have....
I think to really enjoy and understand Advent Children as you said MIB, you really have to have the full background story on everything about the movie, i have the anime to, but the game pretty much is what the whole thing is based from and what the story goes from. The thing for me in the Movie of advent children is that it only focuses on Cloud, Vicent and Tifa and the 3 guys, while the characters like Barret, Yuffie, Cait Seith ect only seem to appear in the movie to appease the Final Fantasy 7 fanatics, rather then them having any meaningful part in the movie (even if they just help destroy the big beast). Being a big FF fan, it was fantastic, but a little disapointing. As for Spirits Within, i dont know any Final fantasy fan who enjoys it, its not a final fantasy to us, but i actually enjoyed that film.
im a huge FF fan,but i hvnt seen this unlimited 1 yet: guess m gonna need 2 look up 4 a torrent... personally i didnt like spiritts whitin tht much...i mean, the animation wasnt bad 4 tht time, but simply it has nothing to do with ff,so why putting it in the title, just bcoz the same ppl who developed the game contributed 2 it? a lame marketing move, imo. but AC...now that was great, especially if you played and loved FF7 [since tht movie is only related to that episode o the saga,as every episode is unrelated 2 others of the series if not by quotes n cameos whom appear in all the games, such as the chobos,or some chracters names as wedge n biggs etc...]: i kno it might hv been a lil disappointing the fact only cloud had a meaningful role in it...but in the end,the game itself kinda revolved mostly around him,as 4 the others episodes of the games, they all had a main character who was the protagonist, but ofcourse in the game there was time n space 2 develop a plot n a story tht would connect all the characters 2gether,considering their past n psychology as well, but AC was more meant as an epilogue for the FF7 game, since the way the game ended we would hv no idea wht happeend at all after sephirot was defeated n the earth saved by cloud n his friends,so i think its in this perspective it should b watched, esp. if we consider the fact tht also ppl who didnt play the game would watch it,so it would not make much sense 2 give more important roles to supporting characters tht yeha, coudl spice up things a lil bit maybe, but i guess only former players could truly appreciate...if they wanted 2 do something mostly 4 game fans i think they would hv made it a trilogy like Lotr, but instead they gone 4 somethin faster..indeedFF is an rpg game, which usually take hour sn hours 2 b done,so the narration is very slow, but u cant do the same with a movie,4 obvious reasons so i think they really had no other option bcoz it would hv made no sense 2 add more stuff which they couldnt back up with flash backs since fans would already know those facts n 4 those who never played it just would b not necessary 2 know. sure,4 those who know the game it would b easier 2 follow it esp they would know all the details of cloud past tht in AC r just briefly n superficially mentioned, but all in all i find the movie was realized well enough 2 b autoconclusive, tht even if u dont know jack about FF u could appreciate it graphically n story wise; in the end not all movies r expired from books or other stories n they start n end a full story just during the 2hrs of film, without referals 2 past episodes or hints for future ones.if we watch AC with this perspective, ignoring of wht inspired it,i think it would not b less enjoyable 4 anybody,so 2 me it was a good compromise both 4 fans n non-fans.at least,i loved it.^^ now,im goin on a hunt 4 some more FFU datas..so far i could only find out tht 2 characters `black wind` and `white cloud` r undeniably inspired by vincent and cloud... i will report in if i can learn more useful thing.
Bought myself a whole boxset of the entire series from ebay at only 15 quid, excellent! I love this show and as its based on one of my faverate things of all time (final fantasy) i really needed to get this for my collection!
Have recieved the full set now and thought ill talk about each episode as it goes along ^^.The first episode was pretty decent, the character animation isnt the greatest mind but a nice little opening with plenty of CGI Life animation mixed in with the normal kind. The young boy and girl (i can never remember characters names!) begin looking for their parents and through a bizaar train which takes them to Wonderland along with a female called lisa, the young sister is annoying but quite sweet while the boy is more cautious. Lisa is also searching for someone but not known who as of yet. Wonderland is quite intresting, some weird designs, characters and such. The music is from the games ^^ So it still has the feel of a final fantasy world and they meet a strong guy who eventually rescues them with an awesome gun arm he has. After watching a certain other anime recently, its nice to watch something more gentle ^-^.Good so far but obviously not one of the best animes you can get.
Onto episode 5 now, after a slow couple of episodes, its picking up steam with Lisa and the children travelling more in the world of wonderland. Some excellent CGI graphic use in this, with various different ways that Hazu defeats the monsters with his Magun, which is his powerful weapon that is attatched to his arm.Eventually they get to a new place where they meet Cid,a mainstay in the world of Final Fantasy (he is in every game, different guy each time but Cid is usually in the game somewhere),who helps them get to the subway in time to carry on with their Journey.Getting intresting but still a little dull at times.
Watched 6,7 and 8 last night, the story is picking up quite well, less of the crazy and sometimes pointless battle sequances with Hazu and his magun against then general and bad guys.Omega put in his fist appearence which was awesome and some terrific CGI.The kids and Lisa are still trying to find their parents which is the main story but the moments with Kaze and his past flash up to try shed some light on him as well along with Lisas back story so there are a few things going on during the show.A few new characters came into play the last few episodes,a young wolf girl who has amazing powers and adores Hazu, and a bag,who is like a little pet and keeps causing trouble for Ai yet it will grant any wish she wants.Good fun to watch.
Watched a few more shows up to 11 and its really fun, the animation is getting better but the characters are becoming more likeable and have more to them then the first few shows. Some very memorable moments involving Omaga and the earls lords (the bad guys) who are trying to destroy wonderland and to make their own world with earl as the king. The Chochobo episode was a lot of fun with Yuu's Chocobo becoming enhanced with a flying ability. Great stuff and CGI use in the background at times.I would certainly recommend this anime to anyone ^^.
You dont at all Mib, this show has little to do with any of the games or such. Apart from a few referances and some characters, its pretty much a normal anime like any other, if that makes sense so if you watched it yourself, you dont need to know anything about the FF franchise, all you have to do is sit and enjoy a comptlely original show.
finished 11,12 and 13 episodes now. We finally get to know more about Kaze who is actually a very scarred person deep down with his world and his loved one being destroyed all thanks to the powerful force that is Omega. Omega is starting to grow bigger and unfortunatly for wonderland and the rest of the universe, the Earl is intending on capturing and using him to take over.Yu and Ai are still trying to search for their parents with Lisa and the Chocobo who has saved them quite a few times.Cid is back now in the next few episodes which is cool.
Another post and another Great episode of FF unlimited. Cid and the travellers are now trapped inside a giant puzzle cube thanks to one of the earls henchman lord Pist (not a good name..). As usual Kaze is caught in the middle of this and ends up in the hands of the good guys while they are trapped in this giant maze.Unfortunatly Omega is growing in power and the movement is trying everything it can to stop the Earl from destroying the universe but they look in dire straghts. Its really good fun but it lacks something special that would class it as a true great anime.
This 25 part series is coming to a close now with Ai, Yu, Lisa, Kaze, cid and the soldiers they are travelling with stuck in Lord Pist's puzzle cube. The last few episodes have been quite fun, espicially the quiz episode which had many fun animations involving the quiz put to some of the guys who needed to answer them in order to save their friends.Yu came across his and Ais family but it seems the evil Earl has them brainwashed.Kaze and Makashi are clashing as usual, Kaze bearing little reguard to anyone other then his battle with Makashi who seems to be a good guy but on the wrong side.4 more shows to go, i think this never gets a proper finish which sucks but its been a very enjoyable anime, not a really memorable one nor the most well produced or animated but a very fun show espicially for me being a huge Finfal Fantasy buff, i can understand or the little hidden easter eggs and things ^^.
Completed this series with a breathtaking and quite surprising finish which had me in tears. Only problem is there was no real explanation to what happens to the surviving characters which really annoys me. Still a very good anime series which doesnt get a lot of kudos espicially being that its based on a video game series.
