Just watched the second episode of this from my recording of sunday and I have to say I am starting to like this one.
It appears to me there are 3 main groups of people.
The good guys (girls) - Angelica Burns and Chelsea Muir
The goodish guys - The Coyotes, Mister and his people
The Bad Guys (girls) - The Guild.
There is obviously much more going on than has been seen in the first two episodes and I am very interested to see how it all unfolds.
Its also quite funny, liked the bit where Angelica says that Chelsea only has her good memory going for her, and Chelsea says she also has her boobs! which has made her some good contacts.
I've missed both episodes thus far due to watching other channels so I can't comment on it yet. I'll have to rent the DVDs or try the "naughty" method of watching this show...
I still have both episodes on sky plus but that isn't going to help you much is it? After this second episode it has really raised my expectations of this series, so I'd recommend you try to watch it, whether you take the DVD or naughty option is up to you
Now watched the third episode and I notice that it is censored, there were a couple times when it was obvious that there was swearing but instead of the swear words there were these silly gongs, it happened about 3 or 4 times in the third episode that I noticed.
Well I have just watched the 4th episode and even with the censoring which doesn't happen often anyway I am really enjoying the series. This episode explained a lot of what is going on at least for one part of the story, but there is the whole question of why the Guild are involved yet and what is going on with them.
Still waiting to see the first volume on DVD... It looks like the TV run here is going to collide with the DVD release as the third and final volume doesn't come out until 6th August, when the TV run will be at episode 11 .
Got the first volume of this sent by my DVD rental mob containing the first four episodes.
Have to say it is an entertaining show so far although some of the characters are a little to type but with the Anime universe as big as it is, that is to be expected I guess. But they have added a lot ot the characters by giving them either a little quirk (like Angelica's constant eating) or painting them kind of grey by having the Coyotes as Anti-heroes.
That said, are the Coyotes really bad guys or just guys who go about what they do the wrong way? They don't actually harm anybody and they use their resources just to get ahead. The fact that Mister set up a tavern after Pirate King Bruce died to look after Franca speaks volumes.
Madam Marciano and her Twelve Sisters are clearly the true antagonists of the show although I do like the look of the Gothic Lolita robots (the sisters) even if it is a bit of turn for the fetish fans.
Chelsea Muir is clearly there for comic relief but it is hard to tell if Angelica Burns is a good guy just because she is criminal investigator or whether she is a cop on a personal mission will turn out to be an enemy to Mister for different reasons.
While the concept is a little run of the mill (space pirate, hidden treasure, magic pendants, etc) so far it has been a lot more creative in the detail (like the complex bankvault and the eletronic eye that recorded Bruce's final visions).
A good first few episodes and I'm looking forward to the next volume!
I see what you are saying about Angelica Burns, there is clearly more to her than has been revealed so far. But I personally do not think she is a bad guy (girl) its just a feeling I have.
This isn't a very long series as I have just watched Episode 8 and its getting near its conclusion. I have just looked it up and it is only 12 episodes long, so 4 more to go.
Eve could you please be a bit careful with the spoilers (use the spoiler tag in the advanced posting editor) - I'm still waiting for the 2nd disc to be sent to me...
I have watched the last episode of this now and I have to say after enjoying the whole series without giving the ending away, it was OK but I was expecting much more. Maybe I am just sad to know that it has ended?
Finally got the final volume of this series. The finish seemed a little rushed but they often do in Anime. Good stuff though. I liked they managed to get in a final twist with the whereabouts of the treasure and the swerve with the bomb.
They could do a sequel and I hope they do. The characters and their designs are a little to type but they're entertaining and likeable enough to carry a second series.
