Thought I'd start its own thread for this series rather than talking about it in the anime channel thread.

This is getting very good, each time he seems to look like he is beaten he discovers some new power that gives him the advantage. Now that I've seen another Guvyer in action it was very cool. Its obvious there is something wrong with the other Guyver and that it is damaged in some way, makes you wonder why they don't realise it's damaged.

Didn't they make a dodgy Live action version of Guyver a few years back?

Yes there were two live action films, made by the Americans which says it all. The first was released in 1991 called The Guyver (which was renamed Mutronics for the UK release for some reason). Mark Hammill had a part in it but the film flopped because the Yanks turned it into a comedy film, not to mention transposing the whole story to the USA.

A sequel Guyver: Dark Hero was made in 1994 for a fractin of the budget of the first film but the director had full creative control so it was considered a better film. A third film was planned but never materialised.

The Guyver/Mutronics was the one I saw.. I think I rented it out on Video because it had Mark Hamill in it.

The latest episode of this was very cool with Guyver finding yet another ability he has, but also for the fact that Guyver 3 appeared at the end of the episode to rescue Mizuki. It's obvious that Guyver 3 is Agito who goes to school with them and is also student president.

I can't believe how this episode ended, Guyver was beaten and had his control thing removed and then he was destroyed. Thats 3 out fo the 4 episodes that ended in a way I cannot believe and now I can't wait to see the next ones. I might try to watch them as they are broadcast this week as I don't know if I could wait.

Well I must say some surprising things happened in this episode, a very good epsiode with some cool battles. I did notice they took the opportunity to show a schoolgirl in a towel, typical japanese. That's why I love them wink

Spoiler

This series is just getting better and better. I have noticed how the japanese seem to have no worry about killing innocent people in their anime.

You've only just noticed that and yet you've watched Elfen Lied? wink.gif

I expect it in Elfen Lied as it is that kind of anime, but I didn't expect it in Guyver as I didn't see it in the same genre are Elfen Lied.

Oh poor innocent child...you have a lot to learn. wink.gif

Most "action" Anime have a high violence level in them. It's on of the reasons why Anime is so maligned by the press, especially when it first came over here in the early 80's.

I am starting to learn about the anime, it does appear they like to really put their good guys and girls through so much trouble and make their lives really bad. In both Guyver the trouble they have put Sho and his friend through, its the same in Eva and even in Elfen Lied (although are Nana and Lucy/Nyu good girls?)

The only series where the good characters haven't had their lives torn apart is Coyote Rag Time show, I get the feeling that show is possibly for a younger audience than the other 3 on Anime Network at the moment.

What about Franca in Coyote Ragtime Show? Her dad was killed before her very eyes. Isn't that bad enough? wink.gif

God, I have been a HUGE fan of the Guyver for years, I even loved the live action versions. When it first came out in the UK me and my mates used to debate which Guyver was hardest...I was a little mark and went for Guyver 1 every time.

Well I am still enjoying this series, but it must almost be at an end as just watched the 21 episode and it looks like everyone is in the same place for a final show down to occur soon. I am looking forward to see how it all ends.
