The Spice Girls have confirmed they will reform for a world tour to take place at the end of the year. The annoucement was made at a press conference at London's O2 arena which all five members attended. The five singers have not performed together since Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell quit in May 1998. By that point, the top-selling group had notched up six UK number one singles, and were in the midst of a 102-date world tour. Earlier this month Mel C, also known as Sporty Spice, told the BBC that any reunion would be for "a very short space of time... a final goodbye". The singer added that she had resisted reforming the band in the past because "it was amazing, it was magical. We could never recreate it". The group will kick off their tour in Las Angeles in December, and will go on to perform in Las Vegas, New York, London, Koln, Madrid, Beijing, Hong Kong, Sydney, Cape Town and Beunos Aires. Future plans The tour is being put together by Simon Fuller, who masterminded the group's global success more than a decade ago. Under his guidance, the five-piece notched up a string of hits - including Wannabe and 2 Become 1 - while also capitalising on their fame with a stream of sponsorship deals.
So who wants to go then... Anyone have a favorite spice? (Easy SoD)
****ing A right. this could kick ass. Back in the day it was all about Geri (If memory serves I had my first wet one over her lol) now a days it's all Emma Bunton, I'd smash her right in.
as for the music, "Spice up your life" was always my favorate lol
If they were any good as entertainers and had any discernible talent other than miming to backing tracks and prancig around in skimpy clothes then they could have continued to have succesful careers as solo stars. But they don't so they can't so they've re-united.
They sucked when they were young and now they are older they will suck even more and if they try to be "sexy" - something they were all incapable of in the first place - in their routines then they will look even more embarrassing than the East 17 reunionas seen on TV a few weeks back.
Honetly it's one great big cash in opportunity follwing Take That's surprisingly successful reunion but this will fail because the Spice's were just a manufactured outfit that was a zeitgeist thing at best and nothing more.
Your kidding right... it won't fail they'll make a forutne. Ive got to say I agree with lava sort of. Entertainers may not be the right word, but if footballers can command huge amounts of money for kicking a ball around a park for a couple of days a week and 'actors' like Chris Tucker and Owen Wilson can command huge fees then, I don't begrudge the Spices. If someone offered you Millions of pounds to reunite for a quick tour then Im sure you'd all turn it down..
Any money though it won't just be this tour, it'll be a new album and then at some point a co-tour with Take That. licence to print money.
First off, footballers get paid WAY to much to the point that their "salaries" are offensive. As for Hollywood "stars" again the salaries are ridiculous.
To the Spices and I certainly don't think it will be a credible success, let's put it that way. The fact is that they were never really credible in the first palce and they fizzled out rather than left in blaze of glory, and people lost interest by the time they announced their "split" (which was more of a dissolving than anything) whereas Take That quit while they were still on top, leaving their fans wanting more.
I've no doubts that the current media hype will ensure a sell out tour but I can't see it being good enough to lead to a new album and renewed interest like it has with TT. It reeks too much of bandwagon jumping just like when East 17 tried it last year and bombed miserably.
I'm not just saying this because I hate the Spices with a passion but because I am being realistic. It is does take off them good luck to them but I have a feeling this is just another PR gimmick to put more money into Simon Fuller's pocket which is exactly what the group were in the first place.
Wow, if thats true that's impressive. I was one of the 'lucky ones' to get a chance tog et tickets got sent the code and everything. Wouldn't pay £75 to watch them though. I might have to try and get in on a press pass.
London's Spice Girls reunion concert has sold out in 38 seconds after fans were notified tickets had gone on sale, the show's promoters have claimed.
More than one million people in the UK registered for the concert, which takes place on 15 December at the O2 arena.
"It was a dramatic moment - the sales went live and there was a huge surge as fans bombarded the lines," said Ticketmaster's boss Chris Edmonds.
Three more London dates have been added to the tour. Tickets cost £55-75.
The shows will take place on 16 and 18 December 2007, and 2 January 2008.
Tickets for the additional dates are currently being sold to fans, who were alerted to the sales by text and e-mail.
And tickets for the 15 December gig are already appearing on eBay - with one pair advertised at £900.
The band's world tour kicks off in Canada on 2 December, and will visit San Jose, Shanghai and Cape Town.

The full line-up has not performed on stage since Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell quit in May 1998.
The reunion concerts have been put together by Simon Fuller, whose 19 company masterminded the group's global success more than a decade ago.
Under his guidance, the five-piece notched up a string of hits - including Wannabe and 2 Become 1 - while also capitalising on their fame with a stream of sponsorship deals.
Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Victoria Adams and Geri Halliwell quickly became household names - although they were better known as Baby, Scary, Sporty, Posh and Ginger.
They sold more than 55 million records around the world, and even starred in a film, Spice World.
Halliwell quit in 1998 citing "differences", leaving the band to complete a sold-out world tour as a foursome.
Since 2001 each member has since pursued solo careers with varying degrees of success, while Posh Spice has become better known as fashion icon Victoria Beckham.
There OK I always had a soft spot of Emma Bunton. Although I do feel it's a money making scheme after they saw how well Take That have done. Although TT have one major difference over TSG.... Talent.
The Spice Girls will not tour again after their current set of concerts, "Ginger Spice" Geri Halliwell has told the website of US magazine Billboard.
"It probably won't ever happen again," she said. "This is the last time you will ever get to see this Girl Power, the five Spices on the stage as one."
The Return of the Spice Girls world tour opened in December and closes in Toronto, Canada on 26 February.
The group have already cut the tour short, cancelling four shows.
But Halliwell denied this was owing to in-fighting, saying: "Actually it's gone on longer than planned because we thought we were only going to go to the end of January.
"After February everybody had commitments; kids had to go back to school and that."
Halliwell went on: "What this reunion taught me is you can never say never.
"If you had asked me 10 years ago whether there'd ever be a Spice Girls reunion concert, I'd have gone, 'No way!'"
In May the star plans to publish the first in a new series of children's books.
I wont miss them. They're not bothering after their single sucked so bad. Everyone has their time and the Spice's time was 1997, along with Tamogotchi's, Gladiators and Leo DiCaprio. All three of those deserved their recent ressurgence more than the "Spoilt" Girls.
