I'm shocked we don't have a thread on this.  Well now we do.  All transfer related chat in this thread please...

Seriously Darren Bent worth .5 mill more than Henry?  and is Torres really worth a 6 contract which nets himsomethjing like 60million?  I don't think so.  Also where will Owen and Nugent end up?

Pleased with Uniteds transfer dealings this Summer, Owen Hargreaves adds steel to the team plust 2 fantastic young talents in Anderson and Nani who will take time to settle but i really believe they will make a big success at the club. The Tevez stuff thats going on is really bugging me right now though,i would love him at my team and he for me,is a manchester united player,i really hope all the stuff going on with west ham,the third party and the premier league will be sorted out ASAP.What a team of attacking talent we will have with Rooney,Ronaldo,Tevez,Giggs,Scholes,Nani,Anderson,Saha,Rossi...Amazing!

So Ronaldo off to Real Madrid in the summer then?

Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster appears to have accepted it would be futile trying to lure Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United this summer.

Schuster's side have been continually linked to the 23-year-old winger, who fuelled speculation last week by saying he wants to play in Spain one day.

"I would like to have a lot of players," said Schuster, whose side won La Liga this season.

"But I don't think it is possible that Cristiano Ronaldo will be with us."

Ronaldo has scored 41 goals on his way to helping United win the Premier League title this month and his side also face Chelsea in Wednesday's Champions League final.

He has a contract with the Old Trafford club until 2012 after extending his deal last year.

United have insisted they have no intention of selling their prize asset but his recent comments to a Spanish TV station hinted he may be thinking otherwise.

"I'm very happy here but let's see after the Champions League final what happens," said Ronaldo last week.

But, despite the player's remarks and the continual rumours about the two parties joining up, Schuster calmed talk of a potential bid after his side's final game of the season against Levante on Sunday.

"I don't waste time on these things," he added. "I think about who could come and not on speculation.

"We are going to look at what we need and then see."

I love the way these big clubs tap up players and then play it down knowing full well they've been found out.  Then when it happens to them they all kick off.  I reckon Real would be looking at best part of £100 mill to get him thought.  Althought the Glaziers might see this as good business and sell....

No chance.Ronaldos staying put.If the Glazers do sell him then they will have to contend with a fan backlash and a furious fergie.Hopefully United sign a striker this year,Huntelaar,Podolski,Klose or Defoe, would do a good job for us since we only have Tevez,Rooney and an injury plagued Saha..

Coupleof bits of transfer news...

Tottenham have completed the signing of Mexico international Giovani Dos Santos from Barcelona for an initial £4.7m.

That fee could rise to £8.6m depending on appearances and Giovani, 19, who has signed a five-year deal, said: "It's a dream to come to a big club like Spurs.

Aaron Ramsey is to join Arsenal from FA Cup finalists Cardiff City in a £5m cash deal, BBC Sport understands.

Champions League winners Manchester United and Premier League giants Everton were also fighting to sign the 17-year-old Welsh wonderkid.

But Ramsey has signed a three-year deal at Arsenal after they flew him out to Switzerland for face-to-face talks with boss Arsene Wenger at Euro 2008.

I think Arsenal have scored big with that one. For Tottenham it's just another Meh signing...

I really don't get this Spurs is a big club stuff, it's like Newcastle, they ahve both been punching abovce their weight for years...

Well all this Scolari (Which I think is the best piece of business in years) news has brought forth news of 3 apparent nearly done deals. Scolari will get Deco (No brainer), Kaka and David Villa to Chelsea and also Carvalho will also stay on now... If true Chelsea will be a force to be reckoned with from here on in.

Liverpool need to try a bit harder...

Aston Villa have confirmed that they have rejected an improved offer from Liverpool for midfielder Gareth Barry.

Liverpool have been chasing the Villa captain for some time and were thought to be close to agreeing a deal for the 27-year-old England international.

"The offer we received was a slight improvement on a previous bid," said an Aston Villa spokesman.

"But our position on the issue remains unchanged and Liverpool have been informed."

Barry's agent Alex Black told BBC Radio 5 Live that the player has told Villa manager Martin O'Neill of his desire to play Champions League football next season.

However, O'Neill has been critical of Liverpool's pursuit of Barry, who captained England for the first time and scored his first international goal during the recent friendly against Trinidad and Tobago.

Liverpool are keen to partner Barry in midfield with his England colleague Steven Gerrard and have declared their interest publicly, much to O'Neill's fury.

Last month Barry said he was putting off all talks over his club future as he concentrated on his international duties with England.

The Reds are reported to have had an initial bid of £12m rejected for the player, who has been at the club for more than 10 years.

The latest bid is thought to be at least £15m, but Villa are said to be holding out for £18m, which could pose a problem for Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.

The Anfield boss has admitted he is expecting to have a reduced transfer budget as a result of the feud between American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

"If we had a lot of money to spend it would obviously be better," Benitez said on the club website. "But if we don't, it doesn't matter.

"It is not about buying the most expensive players, it is about buying the right players and we can sell some players to get the others we need. We have the spine of the team and we just need others in other positions."

Evra signs four-year Man Utd deal

Patrice Evra
Evra is part of the France squad at Euro 2008

Defender Patrice Evra has signed a contract extension with Manchester United which will keep him at Old Trafford until 2012.

The France international signed from Monaco in 2006 and has been a key figure in United's success this season.

He follows Rio Ferdinand, Wes Brown, Nemanja Vidic and Michael Carrick, who have all signed new deals.

"Patrice has been a key part of the club's success in the last two seasons," said boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

"He has developed into one of the best full-backs in world football and his infectious personality has helped to build the incredible team spirit that exists at Old Trafford."

Evra is part of France's squad at Euro 2008, although he did not feature in the 0-0 draw with Romania, Barcelona's Eric Abidal being preferred at left-back.

The 27-year-old initially struggled to make an impression at Old Trafford when he arrived for £4m from the south of France, with Gabriel Heinze first choice in his position.

But he has since become an integral part of United's defence, making 49 appearances as Manchester United won the Premier League and Champions League last season.

"The last two-and-a-half seasons have been the start of a dream for me," said Evra.

"It is a pleasure and an honour to be part of this fantastic side and to be coached by Sir Alex Ferguson and his staff.

o.gif
It is a privilege to play in front of our fantastic fans

Patrice Evra

"I declared when arrived that I was coming here not just to play but to win and United is the ideal place to realise such a dream.

"It is a privilege to play in front of our fantastic fans and I am sure that the success we have earned in the last two seasons confirms the history of this club and will be the start of something even more special."

Evra is a quality player... good business by United there.

Scolari has impressed domestically in South America and Internationally. Domestic European football is very different to both. I think Chelsea fans should reserve judgement...

Barry is a proven player and who can blame Villa for milking it for all its worth?!

As for David Villa, I'd hate to see him at Chelsea. I'm an avid Valencia follower at he joined us to try and break the Barca/Real grip in Spain. Its inevitable he'll leave soon, but I would hate to see him follow the money to Chelski and go and affirm another money bought grip on a division.

United I could live with. They earned their money.

Y'know, its funny. A few years ago if you asked any neutral fan (like me) who they would like to win the Premiership they would have replied "Anyone but Man Utd". Ask them now and they say "Anyone but Chelsea", and thats really down to the belief that they have bought their success. But a few years ago, Blackburn had a large cash injection from thier chairman, bought some good players who they previously couldn't afford, and won the Premiership, yet everyone hailed that as a victory for the underdogs!

The fact is evey successful team has 'bought' their success. How much did Man Utd spend on Cristiano Ronaldo? Wayne Rooney? Carlos Tevez?

Personally I hope that David Villa does come to England, and if it's to join Chelsea then so be it. I love watching Premiership football cos its the best in the world and all the best players aspire to play here.

Ask me who I'd like to see winning the Premiership and I'd say Portsmouth, Villa, Blackburn, Spurs, Man City......basically anyone but Chelsea! wink

BUT... I wasn't someone who agreed with the Blackburn thing. Plus they couldn't have their pick so the manager still had to find players who were prepared to play for relative underdogs and use tactical nous to win. Chelsea simply seem to go on Footbal Manager, order player search by value, and go throwing money at the top 5...

Man United on the other hand have their (buckets of) money through flogging their own horse, as it were. Chelsea on the other hand have simply been given a (russian) horse and are free to ride it.

Thats a poor metaphor but you get my meaning, I hope.

Real escape Fifa rap over Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opening goal in the final
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with Ronaldo

Fifa will take no formal action against Real Madrid over Manchester United's complaint about their public pursuit of Portugal winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

United lodged a protest to world football's governing body in May over what they believed was a deliberate attempt by Real to unsettle the player.

But Real president Ramon Calderon said United "had no evidence" for the claim.

"From the documentation received, no breach of contract appears to have occurred yet," said Fifa in statement.

"Therefore, in accordance with the applicable practice, no kind of formal procedure has been opened by Fifa regarding this matter," the statement continued.

However Fifa did ask the Spanish Football Federation to "remind Real Madrid about the potential legal consequences of a breach of contract without just cause".

The news will come as a disappointment to United who objected to a number of public statements by the Spanish club.

Real have made clear their admiration of 23-year-old Ronaldo but they have been careful to acknowledge that he is still under contract in Manchester.

Article 18 of Fifa's regulations states one club has to inform another in writing if they are to start negotiations.

o.gif
606: DEBATE

However, the rules do not specifically state that the club that owns the player has to give consent.

United's initial complaint said: "On 27 May, United made clear its intention to report Real Madrid if it continued to involve itself in the future of Ronaldo.

"Unfortunately, Real Madrid has not kept its own counsel."

Real coach Bernd Schuster claimed Ronaldo was their main summer transfer target, triggering United's initial threat of a complaint, while United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has accused the Spanish club of a "lack of morals" for allegedly unsettling the player.

At the start of June, Ronaldo reported told Brazilia website Terra he wanted to play at Madrid, "but only if it's true they are ready to pay what Manchester United ask of them".

In response Calderon told Spanish newspaper AS: "For Madrid it is an honour to know that a player like him thinks that playing at Real would be good. We are proud to know that he would like to be with us."

Ronaldo, currently with Portugal at Euro 2008, has said he will not speak about the subject again before the end of the tournament but he did say he had yet to decide about his future.

Despite being under contract at Old Trafford until 2012, Ronaldo has refused to state publicly and unequivocally his future lies with United.

Latest rumour on the Cristiano Ronaldo situation; Real Madris are ready to table a bid of £45m plus Wesley Sneijder. Not a bad deal I don't think.

It needs to be a pure cash offer for him. Fergie wont want a player who will feel shuned as a paltry makeweight for Ronaldo.

United, need to hold on for at least 70-80 million for Ronaldo, Real would be willing to pay it. otherwise make the untrustworthy Get root in the reserves for the next 4 years.

80 mill would get you a ream of decent players.

Astonishing events, with the proposed purchase of Man City by Arab investors, weve outbid United for Berbatov, though rumours say he will still dign for United.

United could be in trouble, as Tottenham say they did not give United permission to talk to Berbatov!

Thrilled with Robinho...but worried that it will be the owners dictating transfers...they have earmarked Henry (YES!) and the fatter, older Ronaldo (NO!) for the January transfer window.
