Here's the thread to place your nominations for people and films you would like to see in the CPC Movies Hall of Fame. Please note which section you would like your nominee placed in for example - Arnold Schwarzenegger Action/Adventure.
If you could place a short reason for nomnation then the CPC Movies Admin team will decide wether to take the voting process further
Bruce Lee - Action/adventure,A true movie icon,he only made a couple of films but with them,he made a significant impact in film history, plus his work in the green hornet was excellent, for me he deserves to be in the hall of fame on these forums for sure,so i nominate bruce.
Bruce Lee is a consideration, but he didn't really have a long enough career in movies to garner a HoF, although if others disagree (And I bet I know who will be first) maybe we will get to Bruce a bit quicker.
Actors/Actresses - Sly Stallone, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Obviously Jessica Alba, Nicole Kidman, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Jackie Chan and Kate Winslet.
Bruce Lee is a Bona fide HOF candidate just for his influence alone. As for his film output, it's quality not quantity. In fact, he started out as a child star in China so he already had a number of films to his credit before moving to the US in the late 1950's. Plus it cannot be dismissed that his classic films of the 70's not only redifined martial arts cinema but action cinema in the West too.
Not only did he bring martial arts to the West via cinema but also on it's biggest scale to the everyman via his schools. His films stands the test of time and continue to influence martial artists and martial arts filmakers to this day, and his own fighting style of Jeet Kun Do is an accepted martial arts practice. His philosophical works are also still being taught and adopted by martial arts schools the world over. It was only his untimely death that stop him from going to fulfilling his potential and sustaing international success.
If James Dean is considered a cinematic icon with just 3 films to his name then what Bruce achieved in his 5 films of the 70's makes him an even more deserving candidate.
I was going to place Enter the Dragon in the film section as an inagural. But Bruce in the actors... hmmm I'll have to think about it. Although what you've sited MiB is about his martial arts not his film career. Also, James Dean is not on my radar for this HoF the idea for it is to be a bit more modern. I don't want one of these poncy ones where people widely considered because some cheap hack reckons there good gets the nod.
Some good picks there Lava. Godafther is an Inagural pick for sure potentially Star Wars too. I'm assuming Miss Alba is a joke though.
Bruce Lee's impact of the film industry is just as great as his impact on martial arts. Not only was he an action director and choreographer for all of his 70's films (inc Enter... and his scenes in Marlowe) as well as others, he also wrote and directed Way Of The Dragon and the original footage/screenplay/script for Game Of Death. The TV series that was Kung Fu was also orignally a Bruce created project called The Golden Flute, so his skills ranged beynd his on-camera work.
Martial arts movies chaged after Bruce's movies as did the importance of the stars in the business. Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and the others would have the same clout in the buisness if Bruce hadn't opened the doors for them. And the martial arts film explosion in the US wouldn't have happened if it were no for Bruce. Simple maths - No Bruce Lee = No Van Damme, No Seagal.
And if you need futher convincing, when Bruce died film makers in both Hong Kong and Hollywood were looking for "the next Bruce Lee". If someone is that well know and that influential that their passing leaves a whole in the industry that creates that much interest in filing (or in this case trying to) then surely their importance, their contribution and icnonic status cannot be argued.
The fact that we are still talking about the guy almost 35 years after his death speaks volumes.
Sorry to double post but how exactly is this going to work? Are we to base it purely on personal taste and opinion or will it be more objective and based on undisputed fact and credentials. Other this will be just one huge argument after another.
I think the criteria and objective for this project need to made clearer.
Just a thought I've seen on other sites where the person who runs the site chooses who they want and then the site memebers vote yes or no is this not the most simpe way of doing it? Id vote for Bill Murray in the HoF

No offence to DM but it could get messy if there are mass disagreements over who he chooses which is why, like the Miss Undergound, i agree that we get to particpate.
However, my concern is that this has a danger of ending up like those "Greatest Albums" polls where people vote for the current darlings of hype like Arctic Monkeys at no 1. So may I suggest we set some kind of criteria for the nomination?
If I may, I would like to proffer the following suggestions:
1) Nominees for actors or actress must have 10 or more active years in the business or for deceased actors or short lived careers, a legacy extending 20 years or over
2) Nominees for directors must have 5 or more films to their credit
3) Nominess for actor or actress can't be based on how hot he or she looks
4) Nominees for Films must be over 5 years old. All languages and country or origin welcome
5) All film nominees must have been cinema releases at least in thier country of origin to qualify. Straight to DVD films are not accepted.
Yes I agree with that. But I also think there is a niche for DVD proffesionals for example Steven Seagal, Chuck Norris, JC Van Damme if they were to get nominated. Although SS has had a glittering movie career.
But yes I am with that MiB anyone else care to comment or add stuff.
I also forgot to add a comedy wing which I shall rectify today.
Here below is the Inagural entrees list (this is not open to debate, although if anyone has a problem with them PM and we will discuss there). Reasons and descriptions will be poste in the HoF on CPC Movies.
There are two additions to this list in the Other Category
Other
Walt Disney, Jim Henson.
The inagural event will happen at the beginning of September. Then the others nominated can be considered. There will be considerations once a quarter so the first new admissions will Happen end of December beginning of Jan 08.
love the godfarther. got the trilogy for £1, he wanted £1-50 but i haggeled. an amzing film, more than the plot, the story its self, its how its done that amazes me.
id like to put forward falling down. a great film that puts forward 2 mans struggle and the different ways in which they deal with it. douglas is the bad guy thats not, the view can simperthis (sp) with him but at the same time see the error in it, while the finnish further blurs the line between good guy/bad guy. i just real enjoy that film
this film not only helped the careers of many established actors but also the style was very unique and I feel pushed many new film makers to try new things that they wouldn't have done before this film showed them the way.
Quentin Tarantino - Director
I just think he really pushes the boundaries or the established film industry and is willing to try new things and new styles and take influences from anyway.
Morgan Freeman - Drama and Comedy
Just look at his list of films, he is an amazing actor who has been in some of my favourite films, Unforgiven, The Shawshank Redemption, Outbreak, Se7en, Chain Reaction, Kiss the Girls, Bruce Almighty, Along Came a Spider, Batman Begins to name just a few.
Bruce Willis - Action/Adventure and Drama.
Not only is he one of the ultimate action heros but also think of his films like Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense which we excellent films and he did an outstanding job.
The Jim Henson Company have formally accepted the award on behalf of Jim to the hall of fame. Cool, they will be sending a statement and piccy too. I'm well chuffed the first of many I hope...
Sorry, I didn't read the entire thread, and I don't know how popular these movies were in the UK, but I have some nominations for the Movies category:
Rocky series-In the States, these are the end all, be all of sports movies. Just ask any American their top 5 sports movies, and at least one of these will fall somewhere in there.
Field of Dreams-This is my favorite movie of all time. I know Brits aren't too hot on baseball, but it's a really great movie. If you have a dad, you'll love this movie.
Here's a few for the actors category:
Tom Hanks-He's never made a bad move. Just look at his resume: Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Philadelphia, Cast Away, and it goes on and on.
Will Ferrell-He's the top of the food chain when it comes to comedy. While a lot of his movies haven't gotten high quality reviews, he's a master of comedy. Some examples of his work: Elf, Talladega Nights, Blades of Glory, etc.

I would like to nominate the following films for inclusion in the 'Best Film' catagory:
The Lord of The Rings trilogy
In my mind, the most complete set of films ever made. Ground-breaking special effects, great acting performances all round, and brilliantly directed. A fantastic adaptation from a fantastic book!
The Shawshank Redemption
I'm not one for watching movies over and over again, but The Shawshank Redemption is one I would happily watch on repeat! One of the most moving films ever made, with outstanding performances from Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. A definate candidate for Best Movie!
The Green Mile
The second film on my list directed by Frank Darabont (with Shawshank). I'm not particularly a Tom Hanks fan, but The Green Mile is, in my mind, a modern day classic. One of the only films that has made me cry every time I watch it!
The Crow
Great piece of cinema, good fun, good acting, well directed. And to top it off, a great soundtrack!
What about Vince Vaughn? I know it may be too early in his career to think about him for any type of Hall of Fame, but he has been in some solid movies.
Swingers is one of my top 5 movies of all time. That's a realy guy movie. He was also in Rudy. Jurassic Park, Psycho, and Zoolander are other flicks he was in. But, aside from Swingers, some of his really great performances have come recently in movies like Dodgeball, Old School, Starsky and Hutch, Anchorman, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Break Up, and, of course, Wedding Crashers is destined to become a classic.
Any thoughts on him??

The break Up quite possibly on the list of worst films ever. Most of those films you mention he's not the leading man although Id agree with Swingers and Dodgeball.
Way too early for any kind of HOF nomination even a tiny little site like this one for Vince Vaughan.
Maybe in 50 years time if he makes some decent movies and plays some decent roles and doesn't just play the same role over and over then who knows but right now he is just a "current star" to me.
True HOF names need to be the classic names of cinema: Chaplin, Keaton, Gish, Griffith, Capra, Hitchcock, Olivier, Garbo, Gable, Cagney, Brando, Kelly, Astaire, Welles, Spielberg, Scorcese, DeNiro, etc.
ok gr8 actress a true diva Laurn Bacall for best actress, actor Sir Alex Gunniess (watch him in action, even if he is not speaking in a sceene he is reacting)
oh...i thought it was the opposite. jennifer anniston is the only reason that i stayed in the theater the entire time for this movie. but my girl didn't know that...

No Sorry. She's not that great and besides, I have a pathological hatred for the cast of Friends for being in that unfunny, overrated pile of crap and because it is ALWAYS on TV over here in the UK.
I'd like to nominate a further film to the 'Best Film' catagory;
Memento
A brilliant piece of film making. Ground-breaking idea, brilliantly filmed and with strong acting performances. It's a 'Marmite' film; you either love it or hate it. Obviously I love it!
As for the 'Friends' thing, I have nothing against the series, its fairly harmless fun. But I'm struggling to think of any decent film any of the main cast has made since. There was..........or maybe...........or what about.......... erm..........nope, can't think of any!
yeah...i hate friends too. its always on here as well. i dont watch, but my ex does/did. at like 11 oclock...wtf? u know what 11 oclock is time for! watch the news and then bam!...lmao.

Well some great news. Stallone's 'people' have been in touch and they are going to have him do me an acceptance for the HoF. Also, when the Rambo junket happens they are happy for me to present him with the certificate...
