She's in trouble again.....

Singer Britney Spears has been charged with hit-and-run and driving without a valid licence.

She is accused of hitting a parked car and driving away from a Los Angeles car park on 6 August, a spokesman for the city's attorney's office said.

The 25-year-old could face six months in jail and a $1,000 (£495) fine if convicted of the misdemeanour charges.

Ms Spears' representatives were not immediately available for comment, the Associated Press news agency said.

Drug tests

The owner of the car filed an accident report on 9 August at the North Hollywood Community Police Station.

The city attorney's office did not know whether Ms Spears' car had been damaged, nor did he know the extent of damage to the other car, spokesman Frank Mateljan said.

Ms Spears was notified of the charges by letter earlier this week.

A hearing, which Ms Spears does not have to attend because the charges are misdemeanours, has been set for 10 October.

The charges come just days after a judge ordered Ms Spears to undergo random drug and alcohol tests twice a week in her child custody dispute with former husband Kevin Federline.

Los Angeles Superior Court judge Scott M Gordon said Ms Spears, 25, showed "a habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol".

He also ordered Ms Spears and 29-year-old Mr Federline - who is seeking increased custody of their two young sons - to complete a parenting class.

Ms Spears, whose new album is set for release on 13 November, has also been dropped by her management firm, and her recent performance at this year's MTV Video Music Awards was widely panned.

Well it's finally happened...

Singer Britney Spears has been ordered to hand over her two young children to her former husband.

A judge in Los Angeles ruled that Kevin Federline be given custody of Sean Preston, two, and one-year-old Jayden James, until further notice.

Ms Spears has recently been charged over a motoring incident, and dropped by her management firm.

Representatives for Ms Spears and Mr Federline were not immediately available for comment.

The judge's order came 10 days after the 25-year-old singer was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after allegedly driving into a parked car, and driving without a valid licence.

If found guilty she could go to jail for six months.

Substance abuse

Her comeback appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month was also panned by critics.

Last month Judge Scott Gordon said Ms Spears showed "a habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol".

She was ordered to undergo random drug and alcohol tests twice a week as part of her child custody dispute with Mr Federline.

The judge also ordered Ms Spears and Mr Federline to complete a parenting class.

However, on Monday he ruled that Mr Federline "is to retain physical custody of the minor children on Wednesday October 3, 2007 at 12pm until further order of the court", the official court documents said.

Ms Spears married the backing dancer in October 2004, but the pair filed for divorce last November.

The divorce was finalised on 30 July and since then the estranged couple have shared an equal amount of time with the two boys.

However, Mr Federline has been fighting for greater time and more money.

Hopefully this will now kick her into gear about sorting her life out. Or else I'd expect to see a full on meltdown in the next few days... Very publically as well.

A court in the US state of California has refused to restore custody of her two children to singer Britney Spears.
Instead, Ms Spears was granted rights to visit the children. Her former husband, Kevin Federline, was awarded sole custody earlier this week.

Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner Scott Gordon extended that custody order until another hearing on 26 October to review the situation.

The couple previously shared custody, and no reason was given for the change.

However, a lawyer for Ms Spears, Sorrell Trope, told a US magazine that the judge had acted after the singer was unable to prove she had complied with several court orders.

Last month, Mr Gordon said Ms Spears, 25, showed "a habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol".

Hit-and-run

The singer, whose career has been hit by a year of frequent erratic behaviour, did not attend court on Wednesday, although Mr Federline did

"Kevin wants to maintain the custody that he has as long as he can," his lawyer, Mark Kaplan, said after the hearing.

The judge was later expected to confirm the details of Ms Spears' visitation rights.

Her time with her sons will be halted if her behaviour "endangers" the youngsters, according to the ruling.

The star's ex-husband, Kevin Federline, was awarded custody after Spears failed to produce her driving licence and missed a test for drugs and alcohol.

Spears is likely to see her children every other day but must also attend three counselling sessions this month.

Her son Sean Preston is two years old, while his younger brother, Jayden James, is one.

It seems that Britney after turning up for 15 minutes after arriving 2 hours late for the hearing on her kids was carted away last night on a gurney to hospital for taking undisclosed substances. It's been all over CNN, but shes OK apprantley, she was refusing to hand over the kids to K-Fed.

Adnan Ghalib, the 35-year-old photographer that is currently holed up with Britney Spears, is arranging deals to sell exclusive photos of Britney. Adnan offered pictures to British tabloids yesterday with a price tag of $1 million, according to the Daily Mail:

The images were taken after Spears managed to check herself out of a secure unit at an LA hospital where she had been sensationally taken by police after taking her own children hostage in a custody row with her estranged husband Kevin Federline.
It is not known whether Miss Spears is aware that her new companion is now trying to turn a quick profit on their relationship.
Some sources suggested last night that she may even be in on the deal, in so doing making a profit for herself and also being able to control which pictures of her go out.

Jamie Lynn Spears Nickelodeon show Zoey 101 saw its ratings double when the season finale aired on Friday. Jamie Lynn already taped the fourth season before her pregnancy and Nickelodeon has been debating whether to air the new episodes. Obviously, now they will. In the meantime, Jamie Lynn is working on her GED, according to Us Magazine:

Britney Spears parents, particularly her father Jamie, have been trying to get Britney into a mental hospital for months. Her dad suspected last summer her problems were mental and not substance abuse. Britney refused back then to get tested for bipolar disorder and is still refusing, according to TMZ:

We're told both Jamie and Lynne Spears believe Sam Lutfi, the guy who was inseparable from Brit until last week, was a prime reason she was refusing treatment. They are so mad at Lutfi they threw him out of Cedars last week.

Photos have popped up today of Britney Spears and Adnan Ghalib looking at pregnancy tests at Rite Aid on Monday. OK! Magazine reports:

The duo shopped for the test at the pharmacy following the pop star's (dis) appearance at court on Monday, where they also filled out a prescription.
OK! is also claiming that Britney is anxious to have another baby since shes barred from her other children:

"Britney hates when things are taken from her," a family member of Kevin Federline tells OK!. "The court's taken Preston and Jayden away, so she'll just have another kid to take their place. That's the way she thinks."

Well Brit's back with more excerpts from her strange life. First shes split with the bloke who supposedly got her pregnant...

Britney Spears supposedly has a restraining order against Adnan Ghalib. The two were not seen together at all over the weekend and Sam Lufti has been telling paparazzi that Britney took legal action to get rid of Adnan for good. Adnan responded to the rumor on his agency Finalpixxs blog:

All I can say is that I have not been in contact with Britney since early Friday morning.
The reason being, that I have had to attend a family funeral in Santa Barbara. My phone has been off during this time out of respect for my family. I am only now becoming aware of what is being said. I hope to be back home in Los Angeles soon and to be in contact with Miss Spears.

Then in a brilliant twist....

In a bizarre twist to the rumors that Britney Spears and Adnan Ghalib are over, Britney Spears is now denying that she even knows who Adnan is. In the above footage, the paps catch Britney outside the Millennium Dance Studio in Burbank. When asked about Adnan, Britney says "I never met the man before." She does it all in a British accent and then takes off after saying "I love you, men." Hats off to the pap who asked Britney "What part of England are you from?"

Singer Britney Spears has been taken to hospital by ambulance from her home in Los Angeles, police have said.

A police officer told Associated Press that the pop star was being taken to hospital to "get help", but did not say which facility she was being taken to.

A UCLA medical centre spokesman refused to confirm she had been admitted there.

Earlier this year Spears, 26, was admitted to hospital after refusing to surrender custody of her two sons in a stand-off with the police.

'Mental issues'

The star was released from the Cedar-Sinai Medical Center after a day and a half. The details of her medical treatment were not revealed.

Sole custody of Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, who is one, was awarded to Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline after the incident.

The singer was also denied visitation rights to her children.

Earlier this week, US talk show host Barbara Walters claimed that Spears has been receiving treatment for "mental issues".

She said Spears' manager Sam Lutfi had told her the singer was suffering from psychiatric problems that are "treatable".

"She has been having mood swings. She's been having trouble sleeping," Walters said on her show The View.

TV therapist Dr Phil McGraw, who visited Spears during her hospital stay last month, said at the time that he thought she was "in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention".

McGraw, who cancelled a planned TV show on the singer's predicament, was later criticised by Spears' family for speaking publicly about the matter.

She has been committed to a psychiatric ward for a 72-hour stay, according the the Reuters and AP news agencies.

A UCLA spokeswomen refused to confirm if Spears was at the hospital.

Her manager Sam Lutfi told reporters that the star was being held for a three-day mental evaluation on the orders of her psychiatrist, Reuters said.

US law allows for a patient to be placed on "involuntary psychiatric hold" for 72 hours if it is thought they could pose a danger to themselves or others.

Last month, Spears was admitted to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center after refusing to surrender custody of her two sons in a police stand-off.

Following the incident, sole custody of Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, who is one, was awarded to ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Britney Spears' father will continue to look after her financial and personal affairs until a doctor has made a psychiatric report, a court has ruled.
Court commissioner Reva Goetz has appointed a doctor to judge if Spears - admitted to a Los Angeles hospital last week - is capable of making decisions.

James Spears will keep control of his daughter's assets until the report is considered at a 14 February hearing.

They were placed under her father's "conservatorship" at the weekend.

US courts take such measures when it is deemed someone is incapable of caring for him or herself or cannot handle their own affairs.

Custody award

As conservator, Spears' father has powers over her liquid assets and can also bar people from contacting her.

Such a restraining order - sought by James Spears - was granted at the weekend against Spears' manager Sam Lutfi.

The order - now extended by the court - bans Lutfi from any contact with the 26-year-old singer, including phone calls and text messages.

The court rejected a bid by lawyer Adam Streisand - acting for Britney Spears - to take control of her assets instead of her father.

Spears' spell in the UCLA Medical Center is her second time in hospital in less than a month.

She was admitted to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in January after refusing to surrender custody of her two sons in a police stand-off.

Sole custody of her two young children was subsequently awarded to ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Details of the restraining order against Sam Lutmcgyver have surfaced and it paints a pretty ugly picture of what's been going down with Britney. Lynne Spears provided most of the information in the document and it contains allegations that Sam was drugging Britney. TMZ reports:

At one point Britney "picked up a bottle of pills and read part of the label and asked us, 'What does insomnia mean?' Sam told her that the pills will help her stay awake." Lynne continues, "Sam told Jackie and me that he grinds up Britney's pills, which were on the counter and included Risperdal (an anti-psychotic drug for schizophrenia and bipolarity) and Seroquel." The docs continue, "He told us that the doctor who is treating her now is trying to get her into a sleep-induced coma so that they could then give her drugs to heal her brain."
After downing the pills, Sam then tried to get Britney to do shots of tequila. He also told Britney that Adnan is gay and later threatened Lynne:

Lynne claims before leaving for the drug store that night, Sam gave her drugs upstairs "to make her more light-hearted, happy, and fun."
During a dispute later that night, Sam allegedly said, "If you try to get rid of me, she'll be dead and I'll piss on her grave."
Brit said, "Can I see another psychiatrist so I can see my babies?" Sam responded, "If I told you to take 10 pills a day, you should do what I tell you to see your babies."

Spamalot creator Eric Idle has removed a song lyric making reference to pop star Britney Spears from the musical.

Explaining the change, Idle said: "We don't laugh at sad people. Britney is being tortured to death and we don't want to be on that side."

Spears's name has been replaced in the song by "Posh Spice" Victoria Beckham.

The alteration follows Brian May's announcement last week that a Britney reference had been removed from his Queen musical We Will Rock You.

"She is going through such a hard time," May wrote on his blog last week. "We didn't want there to be any risk of our show adding to her pain."
It also follows the decision by gossip site Holy Moly to censor paparazzi shots of celebrities being chased or in distress.

The Spamalot lyrics were changed last week in shows running in London, New York, Las Vegas and on tour.

In the original version, the Lady of the Lake character had bemoaned that she was being "constantly replaced by Britney Spears".

Now, though, she complains that "they're trying to replace me with Posh Spice".

Idle said the change was requested by the show's director Mike Nichols.

"And he's right," the former Monty Python star added. "We think that it's now too sad."

Britney Spears' father can retain temporary control of the singer's assets and affairs until March, a Los Angeles court has ruled.

James Spears was granted "temporary conservatorship" over his 26-year-old daughter's life two weeks ago when she was admitted to a psychiatric ward.

In addition, Spears' brother Bryan, 30, has been named co-trustee, along with a legal firm.

A court creates a conservatorship when a person cannot care for themselves.

James Spears' lawyer Jeryll Cohen also told the hearing investigators had been struggling to find the singer's sometime manager, Sam Lutfi, to serve a restraining order against him.

Last week a court banned Mr Lutfi from going near the singer, after her mother claimed he had taken virtually over the star's life and had even been drugging her.

"We have made great effort to have Mr Lutfi served," said Mr Cohen.

"We staked out his residence at the hospital. We did many things we do not want to discuss right now. We have information he is intentionally avoiding service," he added.

The restraining order means Mr Lutfi must not contact Spears in any way and must stay away from the homes of her parents and her siblings.

Court documents have also revealed Mr Spears has been granted permission to sack his daughter's business manager, Howard Grossman.

More problems for Britney regarding getting custody of her sons...

Pop star Britney Spears has failed in a court bid to regain visitation rights to her two children.
A spokesman for Los Angeles Superior Court confirmed that no change had been made to an existing order denying Ms Spears visits to her sons.

The pop star was banned from monitored visits last month after refusing to hand the children back, resulting in a stand-off with police at her house.

Ms Spears was taken to hospital in an ambulance following the incident.

She spent another six days in a psychiatric unit earlier this month.

Paparazzi presence

The singer's ex-husband Kevin Federline was awarded primary custody of two-year-old Sean Preston and Jayden James, aged one, in October.

At Tuesday's hearing, the singer's lawyer Anne Kiley was denied a request for an order to gag other lawyers in the case from discussing it with the media.

She had argued that the coverage was "emotionally and physically" a strain on the star, and requested that times of hearings could not be disclosed to the press.

Mr Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said the two children were not being put at risk and that Ms Spears was more concerned about the constant presence of paparazzi.

He added that he hoped there would no longer be "pre-leaking of information to favoured media outlets as to where they [Ms Spears and companions] are going and how they will get there."

Mr Kaplan was referring to the development that the singer's father James has taken charge of her affairs by order of the courts.

Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon, who has been presiding over the lengthy child custody dispute, granted Ms Spears' request to replace Ms Kiley with another lawyer.

Outside the hearing, Mr Kaplan told reporters that Mr Federline would like his former wife to see their children.

"Both sides want to see the day that visitation can resume. It's a question of working out the details of how that can happen," he said.

"Mr. Federline looks forward to his children having their mom in their life."

Britney Spears is to guest star in a forthcoming episode of US sitcom How I Met Your Mother.
The 26-year-old pop star will play a doctor's receptionist named Abby who becomes smitten with the main character, Ted.

The show's creator Craig Thomas told US Magazine the singer attended a script reading with the cast and would film her scenes this week.

Spears will be seen on the show in the US on 24 March.

Thomas said representatives for the singer approached the CBS network about the appearance because "she was looking for a small part on a funny show".

Neil Patrick Harris, who plays serial bachelor Barney Stinson in the show, told Entertainment Tonight he was surprised Spears approached them for the role.

'Interesting role'

"I was shocked that Madame Spears was willing to come and do some acting, she hasn't acted in a while," he said.

"This is a very interesting role - it will be very unlike any Britney we have seen before, and we have seen a lot of Britney recently."

Spears first showed off her acting skills in the widely panned 2002 movie Crossroads and was a guest star in sitcom Will and Grace in 2006.

The first series of How I Met Your Mother was shown on BBC Two in the UK last year.

Has everyone seen her latest music video? I am not talking about the song which was so memorable I don't even remember how it goes, but the video did catch my attention and is quite good.
