I see from the posts in the overrated TV thread that there some people here who don't like this show.
I quite like this show, I think there are some very interesting characters and no I am not just talking about the cheerleader!
Its very well done how they give each person their ability and how they are running so many different stories which link up and then split, then link up again and so on. It really does keep you guessing throughout.
I taped this for my dad when it was on the Sci-Fi channel earlier this year and I couldn't be bothered with it then either. I usually find when something gets so over hyped it usually ends up being a disappointment.
I think it has been really hyped a lot, but don't let this put you off if you haven't seen it.
Give it a chance as I think you might like it, if you then don't like it then that's fair. But don't write it off just because it has been hyped so much.
Im not saying I don't like it I probably would much alike 24. But I never get around to watching them much alike 24 & Rome. The Cheerleader would be a reason to watch though...
I have the first season of this, not had a chance to watch it, from the shorts it looks just like a more violent version of The 4400, which im all for. So when i have some time, im sure to watch this. It may be overhyped but still looks good
This show is absolutely frickin awesome! I watched the first season on Sci-Fi earlier on this year and couldn't get enough of it! Currently watching Season 2 on-line and it is pretty good too! The storylines are well costructed, with plenty well-placed cliffhangers to keep you gagging for more, and most of the characters are interesting, with pretty cool powers! I definately recommend watching Heroes to every sci-fi fan out there!
I've just read that the creator/writer of the show has apologised for the second series being a bit duff as the ratings have taken a hit.
I'm not surprised when something hits big time first time around and the pressure is on to repeat the success. That's what I like about UK TV when it (used to) allow show time to grow instead of relying on the instant ratings.
The creator of hit TV show Heroes has apologised to fans in the US for a slow start to the second series.
Tim Kring admitted to Entertainment Weekly that mistakes had been made on the choice of storylines, but promised to get the show back on track.
The second series has seen falling ratings in the US, where the programme is now eight episodes in.
Viewers in the UK can see the conclusion of the first series on BBC Two on 5 December.
'Mistake'
The superhero show, starring Hayden Panettiere and Masi Oka, was the top-rated new drama in the US last year.
But recent programmes have seen audiences slip away - with one recent episode placing 30th in the overall ratings.
The drop-off has been attributed to an influx of new characters and sluggish story-telling. Kring admitted the pace had been too slow.
"We assumed the audience wanted season one - a build up of intrigue about these characters and the discovery of their powers. They wanted adrenaline.
"We made a mistake - we took too long to get to the big-picture story," he added.
Cast of Heroes Heroes won favourite new TV drama at the 2007 People's Choice Awards
The 50-year-old writer also told Entertainment Weekly he regretted introducing a number of romantic storylines saying: "In retrospect, I don't think romance is a natural fit for us."
The show has been hit by the current writer's strike in Hollywood and there are only three more shows left to screen in the US before the episodes run out.
Kring said he hoped to begin with a "clean slate" when production resumes.
'"The message is that we've heard the complaints and we're doing something about it."
In the UK, BBC Two struck a deal with NBC to screen future series of the science-fiction drama, including series two.
The station's terrestrial premiere of the programme attracted an audience of 4.3 million viewers earlier this year.
Just watched the last episode of Season 2 before the mid-season break, and the second half looks excellent. Unfortunately, because of the damn writers strike, it is unknown exactly when it will continue! Grrr!
I have finally found time to watch the last two episodes of series 1. It didn't end quite how I expected it to go, but it was still a good ending to the first series. I am looking forward to the second series appearing here in the UK regardless of the reviews it has got so far in the USA.
Brea Grant Joins Heroes Source: TV Guide May 5, 2008
TV Guide reports that Brea Grant, who played Landry's short-lived rebound girl on "Friday Night Lights," is joining the cast of "Heroes" next season as The Speedster.
She is expected to play Joy, who is "quick on her feet and adept at getting herself into and out of trouble."
Thought I'd talk about something decent on TV rather than that Big Brother/Apprentice/X Factor/etc crap!
Just watched last weeks episode of heroes and wow what a twist at the end finidng out who Adam is, I cannot wait to see hwo ti develops. I can't see how people were saying series 2 was bad, I am loving it.
It is keeping me guessing at who is good and who is bad, maybe that is what most Americans don't like it, because it makes them think for a change?
I did hear they rushed the last few episodes due to the writers strike and I think the espisodes are approaching those ones now, but I'll just wait and see how it goes.
Well almost there with series 2, one more episode to go. I have enjoyed this series, although it has been short I think the story has been good, following the first series was never going to be easy but they did a good job.
Final episode of series 2 has now been shown and I am so dissapointed!
Right up to episode 10 of 11 I was enjoying it, but this final episode seemed such a mixture of a few individual storys that don't really reach any sort of conclusions. It seemed like it was so rushed and unfinished. It was more like a midway break in a series rather than the end of a series.
Yes I knew about the writers strike effecting the series, I just didn't notice any impact on the story for any of the other episodes, just the last one.
For all you Heroes fans, from Comic Con the upcoming season 3....
At the San Diego Comic-Con today, NBC previewed nearly all of the first episode of the third season for "Heroes." SPOILER highlights follow:
Turn back now if you don't want to know! Still here? Here we go...
Spoiler
- The shooter of Nathan Petrelli from last season was revealed - Peter Petrelli from the future.
- Nathan is revived... and has a vision from God. Believing he's an angel on God's mission, he is set up to be some sort of religious zealot in subsequent episodes.
- Sylar corners Claire in her house. Despite hitting Sylar over the head and stabbing him, she's caught. In a scene that drew gasps and revulsion from the audience, we see Sylar probing her brain as she twitches on a table. Claire, who is conscious, asks, "Are you going to eat it?" Sylar responds, "Eat your brain? Claire, that's disgusting." He then steals her invulnerability, then puts her skull cap with the hair back on her head (to more groans). I think someone in the audience got sick after seeing the scene.
- Suresh develops a serum to give humans powers and injects himself, thus giving him super strength.
- Hiro takes over his father's company and discovers a secret formula in his father's safe... which is promptly stolen by a new speedster character. When Hiro travels to the future to see the results, he sees his future self confronting Ando over the formula... then Ando shocking him with a red bolt of electricity.
- HRG is shown in a prison cell while Nikki is shown as the mistress of a Governor.
- Parkman discovers Peter shot his brother, but Peter then zaps him into a far away desert.
There were a few more details and surprises, but I want to leave something for you to see in the episode! The cast came back out for a short Q&A. A couple of fans dressed as Samurai Hiro and a Sylar victim brought some good laughs to the enthusiastic crowd.
Final verdict? "Heroes" Season 3 puts the show back on track and sets up a lot of fantastic storylines for the season.
What did you think Eve? I was quite impressed, looks like its going to be a free-for-all from next week, with the 'secret prisoners' breaking loose! I'm quite excited!
I didn't actually see it in the end as have lots going on right now, but I did manage to record it on Sky Plus so will watch it when I am in the right mood.
I have now seen the first two episodes and it is looking very promising.
Really hard to know right now who the heroes and who the villans are, some are very obvious who are villans but some of the Heroes might be a bit misguided and turn out to do bad things and some who look kinda bad may actually turn out to be good.
