As any Anime fan worth their salt knows that the original hero of the genre and the series that kickstarted Anime for many is Astro Boy!

Coming in 2009 is a CGI film version of Osamu Tezuka's legendary hero to be directed by Danish director Jakob Jensen.

Here is a first look at the CGI Astro Boy:

I dont really fancy it even though im a fan of Astroboy.The original anime can never be beat, even if it is updated with modern day CGI.

Friend of CPC Movies Freddie Highmore has been cast as Astro Boy....

Imagi International has announced that Freddie Highmore--the kid from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Finding Neverland--will provide the voice for Astro Boy in the CGI adaptation of the manga. I guess the character will have an English accent now, instead of the Charlie Chan-style Engrish accent I was hoping for.
