The sport of professional wrestling has captivated audiences for years, gaining millions upon millions of fans worldwide, and whilst there have been many colourful characters, various gimmicks, great athletes and fantastic all-round wrestlers, very few can claim the same greatness that others can, or replicate their successes inside and outside the ring. Pioneers who came before the wrestlers you see today, they set the standards that performers in the business, and those who will enter it, can only dream to achieve. The heroes of yesterday, were the idols and inspiration behind the heroes of today, who will fuel the heroes of tomorrow and continue to mold professional wrestling and build upon the foundations left by the superstars of yesterday, for they are the legends of professional wrestling, the classic superstars who achieved that status that so few ever get to reach.
Wrestling fans throughout the years have enjoyed meeting the wrestlers they watch, an experience that is etched in their memories forever, an experience that they never forget and something that only a handful of wrestling fans from the millions around the world get the opportunity to do. Even fewer of these fans get to meet the wrestlers they watched growing up, that they idolised when they were younger, that got them interested in the world of wrestling they still love to this day. Many people never get the chance to meet those they aspire to meet in life, and in the world of wrestling this is no exception. Fans from the UK and around the world that are fortunate enough to be able to do so, take it upon themselves to travel thousands of miles to the US and other countries to meet their wrestling heroes, taking the only chance they may have to do so. For those not fortunate enough, the option to meet the legends of professional wrestling is not available... until now.
WrestleSlam UK aims to provide the fans in the UK and around Europe with the basis to meet the wrestlers they watched growing up, that captivated them for all those years, that gave to the business what cannot be replaced, whose careers fans still look back on and talk about as fondly as the days they watched them. We at WrestleSlam realise that many stars from the world of wrestling have made the trip over to meet fans at various independant shows, instore signings and sci fi, film or comic conventions... However, there has never been a convention dedicated solely to wrestling and meeting the legends and the classic superstars of it, and so we present WrestleSlam... the original and first ever wrestling convention in the UK.
Without having to pay for international flights, hotels and every other additional expense a trip to a wrestling convention would normally cost, WrestleSlam UK brings some of the biggest superstars, most loved characters and figures from the world of wrestling, and some of the greatest gimmicks of all time to you, saving you the big expense of going to them... with our prices based on those in the US wrestling conventions, despite the greater cost of putting on a convention over here (and US conventions usually cost ALOT to take place as it is), we encourage all fans from around the UK and Europe to take, what is for some, a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the wrestling legends they have wanted to meet for all these years, that they may never have had the opportunity to otherwise.
WrestleSlam, as with anything else in the world of wrestling, cannot exist without the fans... and we invite you all to come and be a part of the first ever UK wrestling convention , on Saturday 9th February 2008, when some of the biggest names ever to grace the squared-circle and the world of professional wrestling come to meet some of the most passionate fans in the world for just one day. So come and enjoy the day, talking, sharing and reminiscing about your memories from the world of wrestling, and meeting the legends that helped to create them. An opportunity that no fan should miss.
We hope to see you there.
