There are certian films you can happily watch again and again and not tire of, Pleasantville is one for me. Just watched it on Sky again. Visually it as beautiful as can be, but more than that, its a movie with something to say.
Maybe its just because the movie chimes with my generally liberal outlook, but I think uplifting, thought provoking. Its a liberal feegood film!
Yes. I remember being impressed with it when I first saw it years ago. it was also the first time I saw Reese Witherspoon and Tobey Maquire.
I remember thinking it was a neat satire on those parts of the US that refuse to join the rest of us in the 21st century and I loved the the whole concept of the black & white Pleasantville turning to colour with each step of "progress" in breaking out of the monotony. That scene where the judge turned colour in mid rant was just great. A very clever and underrated film.
