With all these problems on TV at the moment.  Phone in scandals, BBC losing money hand over fist, threats of strike action, more repeats less new shows, cost of TV Licensing etc.

What do you think?  Too many repeats, too expensive?  Should the phone in frauds be pursued as a criminal act of fraud.  Are Ant & Dec responsible for the latest one on their show as they are Exec. Producers and therefore should know exactly what goes on?  Should the Beeb be getting rid of Rossy who reportedly gets £6 Mill, or get rid of BBC's 3 and 4 as some people are asking for?  Or should they proceed with cutting back on journalists and current affairs type of stuff?

Let's discuss...

The BBC is in trouble because the licence fee is ridiculously high and people are not willing to pay for it and with the rise of digital TV where viewers now have a choice of hundreds of channels to suit their tastes the Beeb no longer have the control over the audience that they once had back in 1952!

As much as I'd like to say get rid of Wossy he is unfortunately popular with the masses. That said, not only is he undeserving of the ridiculous salary he's been given, he is also ubiquitous to the point of saturation with his chat show, radio show, Film show and the numerous awards shows he hosts. I believe he also has a newspaper or magazine column elsewhere too.

Perhaps if they cut down on the number of gigs they give him as well as his salary he wouldn't be such a target and thus his output would be more appreciated. Give him two series of his chat show a year instead of five, a run of Japanorama and the Film series and drop his radio show.

The other problem with TV is that we live in an "instant celebrity" culture where just being on TV nowadays makes you a "celeb" thanks to reality shows which has also reached saturation point and begat the "celeb" reality show featuring those people who first found fame on reality shows! It's easy TV to make and simple enough for the masses to indulge in and it draws ratings so as long as it does that it's here to stay. Also it has proven that in order to appeal to younger and current audiences, they'll give anyone a job (Chris Evans, Davina McCall, Vernon Kay, Kate Thornton, Dermott O'Dreary etc) without them being any good at what they do. If this is the standard of TV presenter then no wonder the British public are so dim to accept whatever rubbish is on TV!

Reality shows also lead to the phone in scandals along with those rip off quiz shows. With the age of internet and interactive TV it is remarkable that the simple telephone is still a prized tool for vote casting yet that would presumably be down to how easy it is to manipulate the outcome as we have seen. Simple answer really: get rid if these reality shows and half the problem is solved. With the likes of Blue Peter ripping off viewers - how difficult can it be to lose a little bit of face by saying there is a technical problem and run the comp for an extra week? Or if they really didn't want the viewer's input why the hell ask for it? Ripping off the viewers is hardly going to help the flagging ratings is it?

Ant and Dec should be shot. Not because of the phone in scandal - just because they get on my breasts!

I don't agree with shutting down BBC 3 or BBC 4 because they have some of the best shows and films on TV. I'd suggest merging the two and drop the pointless repeats of Eastenders and Two Pints of Lager...and concentrate on the original programmes they show that cater for all tastes.

Bottom line - TV has become the entertainment equivalent of the convenience store: a quick fix solution and not a place to do your weekly shopping in.
