Dead Rising follows the harrowing tale of Frank West, an overly zealous freelance photojournalist on a hunt for the scoop of a lifetime. In pursuit of a juicy lead, he makes his way to a small suburban town only to find that it has become overrun by zombies. He escapes to the local shopping mall, thinking it will be a bastion of safety but it turns out to be anything but. It will be a true struggle to survive the endless stream of enemies, but players will have full reign of a realistic shopping center, utilizing anything they find to fight off the flesh-hungry mob and search for the truth behind the horrendous epidemic. Dead Rising features an open level of freedom and offers a vast array of gameplay possibilities. As part of a real time system, time is dynamic in Dead Rising, marching on whether Frank is actively engaged or if he is stationary. Time also plays a role as zombies become more powerful when the sun goes down. Though they move slowly during the day, the zombies become stronger and faster at night, making it even more dangerous for players to survive. The unprecedented numbers of enemies come in never-ending waves and consist of a diverse population of former humans that have retained some memory of their previous lives, which is reflected in their behavior and appearance. The variety of different stores in the mall offers players an endless supply of resources including vehicles, makeshift weapons and more. Players will also encounter other survivors along the way and by helping them can acquire valuable clues as to what has happened.

Well I've just started playing this on my new 360 :). The only word that comes to mind with this game is FUN.
I'm not overly far into it at the moment, only got 4 achievements, but my character is at level 8 at the moment so not bad there. This game is graphically fantastic, great rendering on the features in the FMV's and the gameplay graphics are quite good too. I would recommend this game to anyone who is in the mood for some mindless violence, as you can either do the missions, or you can just go kill zombies (ala GTA style, missions or just killin').
Love this game but it does get quite tedious after a while as it does run out of ways and items to use to slaughter down the enemies.Good thing is you have a variety of cool moves and unlockables if you do certain things well, i got the Megaman Blaster which is fantastic to slaughter down enemies with but to get it, you have to kill over 100,000 Zombies in one full game if i remember!! Bloody difficult..
I agree it is a cool game, but it will get boring after awhile, ive only just got it so it is stilll great fun. Ive also not had a sort or sickle yet so i only get the boring kills where the zombies get back up after awhile. I have had some fun with the lawn mower though, which has been the most destructive so far (flying limbs and what not).
The real fun is the Jackhammer which you should be able to find close to the supermarket! its brilliant to use but it breaks after a certain amount of time. The Chainsaw is always fun as well ^^.The annoying thing is trying to rescue certain characters yet they keep getting themselfs in trouble..
I've heard about the chainsaw (and mini chainsaw) but not the jackhammer. Sounds fun. I know about stupid people getting in trouble, i just saved the girl (who's kid was eaten by the zombies) and she just walked straight into a bunch of them and let them attack her, u just cant help some people can you.
First 360 I bought this, it's a decent game but I found the strory mode monged up. Basically you've got to run around a shopping mall saving people but they give you hardly any information! A quick message will blip on your screen and then you have to locate the poor sod's, thing is the map is pretty big and it's like finding a needle in a haystack.
The free roam option is fantastic, side busting fun.
Dead Rising is definitely one of, if not the best, games made so far for the 360. Good characters, a surprisingly deep storyline and a shopping mall full of zombies make this game absolutely immense. OK, maybe the save function is a bit wonky, but once you've levelled up a bit, the game is an absolute joy.
I've never let the save issue stop me, just keep killing as you go and then save and quit when you die, thats about the only time i save the game. its all about the leveling.
