WWE has quietly removed the Cruiserweight Championship from the SmackDown superstars page on the official WWE web site. It is unknown whether or not WWE dropped the title altogether or just took it off of WWE.com because there is no current Cruiserweight Championship with Hornswoggle moving to RAW. Wrestlezone.com
Lets hope so and lets hope Jimmy Yang Yang, Noble, Funaki, and the rest of the cruiserweights get their release from the land of the giants because they are far to talented to be left to Rot away Jobbing for all eternity.Im a little angry about this because the company could do so much with them.Best thing all round if the title is dropped.
what tag team division? ;) I didnt know there was one in the company! But yep,it sucks but thats the way it is.Now we can look forward to the likes of Wang Yang and Noble being squashed regulary each week (if indeed they are lucky to get on tv..) in short matches with midcard upwards wrestlers.I just wish Vince would do the right thing and cull every cruiserweight on the Roster right now, theyll never be given any time to show what they can do so why waste money on talent they wont use and obviously dont need?
What ruins the tag division is this...sometimes they make an effort to build up a specialist tag team, make an effort to get them over. But then either...
a) They get beaten by a couple of guys feuding for a singles title
b) They lose a handicap match against someone like Triple H...if one of the WWE's best tag teams cant beat one guy, how does this make them look?
The treatment of the Cruiserweight is spiteful...I reckon they keep them under contract merely so the opposition cant sign them up.
There are some big men with no talent in the WWE, mentioning no names...
To be fair the Cruiserweight title died over a year ago. It's never been taken seriously so they are better off without it. It's an opportunity missed as they could have moved the cruisers to ECW and made that one of the focal points of the show... Ahh well.
The title died over a year ago? Try three years ago when Chavo Sr and Jacqueline were feuding over it!
WWE has always been about big guys and have followed suit where WCW top tier guys would have the cruisers tone their matches down for fear of making the slower older heavyweights look bad.
The Cruiserweight title is like the Women's title - it had 5 minutes of credibility then went back to being a comedy prop. I'd say this was a mercy killing.
I think that the WWE realized that they can't compete with TNA's X Division. They have probably the best crusiers in wrestling right now, and WWE is tired of hearing about it. They should stick to the HW title and IC title.
