Hey everyone. My name is David McKinney, and I'm the new MMA columnist for CPC. I'm a huge MMA fan, and I'm excited to be working on this site. I'll try to have my first edition of McKinney on MMA up by the end of the week. Please don't hesitate to argue with me, as that is what I love to do. It's good to be here. I look forward to talking to each and every one of you in the future.

Trust me, I'm trying. I hope that we can at least get some interest in my column, then we'll try to build forum contributions from there. I'm excited about the future, and I think we can grow this thing fast.

MMA, or Mixed Martial Arts, is a combat sport that involves various fighting techniques, including, striking and grappling. Some common forms of martial arts used are Western boxing, various forms of jiu-jitsu (Brazillian or Japanese), judo, sambo, karate, and many, many more. Here's what wikipedia says about MMA:
"Modern mixed martial arts tournaments as a popular phenomenon emerged in 1993 with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, based on the concept of pitting different fighting styles against each other in competition with minimal rules in place, in an attempt to determine which system would be more effective in a real, unregulated combat situation. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, mixed martial arts events implemented additional rules for the safety of the athletes and to promote acceptance of the sport, while maintaining as much of the original no-holds-barred concept as possible. Since these changes, the sport has grown rapidly, to the point of setting pay-per-view records."

I figured I would introduce myself here as well, since I will be writing along side McKinney with my own MMA column as well.i will have a banner up soon and the first column should be up by the end of the week.Hope to hear from you guys!
LOL.Well here's hoping anyway. Basicly I was brought on to add a different perspective to MMA coverage on this forum. Were McKinney will be doing more play by play coverage of different upcoming MMA events, mine will focus more on things such as top ten list, fighters bios,MMA history, etc.I think it will be very interesting writing along side him and seeing what we both bring to the table in terms of coverage.Where he might write a column with full coverage for UFC 79,I might be writing something along the lines of: "The Couture/White debate rages on."
About myself?
Well i'm 22 and have been watching MMA since UFC 1.I belive I was in the 3rd grade at the time.I was in a full time band for about year until i left just a few months ago so I could get back into the gym and for other reasons. The bands website is swurvrocks.com if anyone wants to check it out.I'm no longer with them, but incase you want to see what their like.In my spar time I enjoy playing laser tag (I have a team record of 40-6) and reading.I like the website and I see it becoming just as big as a place like killermoviescommunity. I'm going to check out more of the forums and see what everyone is talking about very soon.
Sorry to say late but welcome to the forums David and MrSmiley, nice to have you on board, will have to read your MMA work as id like to try get into it more in the future ^^.
