Jeff Monson announced he will be fighting Fedor sometime in 2008.He even went as far to claim Fedor backed out of the fight previously.Should be interesting if this turns out to be true.
MMA could be getting its first sanctioning body by next week! This could be big news that would have tremendous ramifications throughout the world of mixed martial arts.We would finaly get to see "official rankings" and cross fights happening between organizations.I can't wait to see how this unfolds.
For it to be official though doesn't it have to have Goverment backing or something. Plus all the orgs based in the US would have to agree terms. The UFC probably carry the most power, so if they were to say no it would weaken the power base.
Unless the goverment turned around and said if your not part of it then you don't get licences or something...
M-1 is planning a late December card. There are rumors going around that Fedor Emelianenko will fight Pedro Rizzo. Other M-1 signings Josh Barnett and Jeff Monson could also fight...

"Q: Do you think there's any chance we would get to see a rematch between Diaz and Gomi inside of an EliteXC cage?
TA: Yeah, I think anything is possible, for sure. We've talked about it on the EliteXC side. I think it's something that Gomi would want. I don't think he'd want to continue his career without having the opportunity to do it (avenge the loss to Diaz). We're very open to doing it and I think I should leave it at that."
*TA refers to Turi Altavilla, former Pride exec and current VP of EliteXC
I would love to see Diaz-Gomi 2, especially since the last fight was so great but was ruled a no contest after Diaz tested positive for marijuana after the match. It would be interesting to see this fight in a cage rather than in a ring as well. For some reason, Pride guys just don't do great in a cage.
Also, Altavilla mentioned in that interview that Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson will most likely fight again sometime in February. He didn't mention any possible opponenets.

Well, I wouldn't call some of those guys main eventers, but they do have a lot of ex-UFC talent on that card.
Vernon White Babalu Sobral Ricco Rodriguez Mike Kyle Joe Riggs Mark Kerr Cabbage Correira Tiki
That's half the guys on that card!
Honestly, though, none of the matchups on that card really interest me much. I may look for the Kerr/Roufos fight on the Net after the fact, but I'm definitely not watching a bunch of old guys that couldn't make it in the UFC.
