It was inevitable really.... ANyway all Transformers related chat here please. The release date is currently 26th June 2009 and here is the synopsis...
Starscream returns to Cybertron, declared leader of the Decepticons, while a separate faction of Decepticons, lead by Soundwave, escapes to Earth to revive Megatron. Meanwhile, Sam and Makaela, now in college, are under careful watch by the US Military. When it is revealed that there is a secret source of energy hidden under Las Vegas' surface, the humans quickly realize the possibility of an imminent attack. With a warning from Hotrod, the Autobots rally with the humans to defend the city from attack as Bumblebee and Sam speed to join the fight. The war continues.
Finally Hotrod is in the movie. They seem to be sort of following original series a bit (starcream becoming leader of the decepticons, etc). The first movie was left so open for many sequels so it was inevitable, but lets hope they keep it as action packed as the first one, as that was what made the movie. anyways, we await more info on this one :)
Are you kidding me? I thought that the first one was horrible. I had such high expectations becuase that's really the only animation that I liked as a kid. They are really the only action firgures that I ever played with. I was so disappointed when I went to see the movie. Luckily, I was there with my girl, and we didn't have to watch the movie. :)
That being said, I'll probably still check out the sequel.

This now is well underway and has a full title. Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.
I assume by the fallen they are taliking about the Decepticons most likely Megatron. Apparantly there are going to be 20 Transofrmers in this one. That'll be intresting because I don't think I could name that many. Id like to see Shockwave, Ironhide and the Dinobots in this one though, that would be cool.
Could this be the storyline for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen? Well there's not that much to it, but we are starting to hear glimmers of what the film could be about, mainly through the comics that are bridging the gap between the first and the second films, because there will be a gap, a big gap.
It seems that between the first and second films something like twenty years could have passed, and no wonder, there needs to be a lot of regrouping, and...spoiler coming up if you haven't seen the first film...
There needs to be a new lead villain. I wonder if the ending of Transformers was the right move and they should have really kept Megatron going in some way. Oh I'm sure he'll come back, and he could well be back in the second film since the title hints at that as much as it does the revenge of the Decepticons in general.
Whatever the focus of that title we know it's going to be dark and end none too positively for the Autobots, after all this is the second and it's liable to get worse before it gets better.
Anyway, over at MTV through Rope of Silicon they have a story about how the series of five comics are going to bridge the gap between the first and second films, and that the enemy in the second film is The Fallen. Chris Mowry and Alex Milne are going to create the comics and Mowry talks about the story.
'[We're going to] explore the background of The Fallen the main villain of the movie as well as expand on the Reign of Starscream story that were doing and tie everything in to what this next movie is going to be...The next movie starts out with just tons of action and theres obviously going to be a lot of questions, so were hoping to answer some of those beforehand.'
Straight into the action with a lot of questions? Well we're not typically going to get those answered in a Michael Bay film as we race forward with the action and adventure.
Mowry has already written Reign of Starscream, which sees the robot head off into space from the first film and return to Cybertron to try and recreate the All Spark cube.
' Reign of Starscream starts right at the very end of that big last action sequence in Mission City. Starscream realizes that Frenzy, the little portable jump drive had accessed all the information the humans had about the All Spark, so he gets this idea of, If I could get all the information thats stored within Frenzys body, I might be able to rebuild the All Spark back on Cybertron and therefore everyone will think Im this great leader. His motivations are more for the species. Hes definitely at odds with what Prime and Megatron have been doing. He thinks that theyve both been consumed with greed, for their own selfish reasons, but as he finds out, his plans start to fall through as hes kind of becoming overwhelmed with the same greed that they had.'
So we understand what his motivations are, and he steps up to be the new bad guy leader.
However Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen does sound like it's going to be a little difficult to follow to begin with and that it's going to feature a ton of new robots and the new five part comic series Destiny will try to explain all that.
'Were definitely taking every character that we can from the sequel...So youll see some Sector 7 involvement and how they developed into a new group that will be introduced. The same thing with some of the new characters, well explain how they get to Earth. Because like I said, [the sequel] starts out with this giant battle so people will be wondering Hey, where did that guy come from? '
Sounds like it will be a bit of mayhem to begin with, and that there'll be a lot to take in, especially if you haven't read the comics beforehand.
Reading up about the Fallen, he is one of the original Transformers created by Primus who betrayed him by siding with his dark twin Unicron. When Primus and Unicron battled for the final time, Unicron and the Fallen went through a black hole, Unicron to another dimension and Fallen trapped between them.
The storyline that saw him retrieved from there, according to Wikipedia, was Transformers: The War Within. He was rescued and began recruiting Transformers with unusual qualities who would rescue Unicron from the other dimension, however the Autobot and Decepticon forces joined together and battled him to defeat him.
Are we going to begin to hear more of the original Transformers and their creators then? Is this the way the new film is going to go, or is this all smoke and mirrors?
Sounds like we could see Fallen and Starscream in the story, they both make sense, and looking to the creation of the robots would be logical if they are working with Sector 7 now, after all humans would want to know all about how they came to be.
What do you think? Would you take time to read the comics before the film, or will you leap into Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and catch up as the film goes on?
news from chud.com around Megatron's involvement in the new movie...
Megatron May Return as a... Source: CHUD August 4, 2008
CHUD has posted an interesting story on how Megatron might return in Michael Bay's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, opening in theaters on June 26, 2009. Here's a clip:
OK, I don't think there's a soul out there who will be surprised when Megatron returns in Transformers 2. If the current incarnation of the script follows the beats of a previous incarnation (which did not feature The Fallen), Megatron may be getting brought back by the Autobots, who need him to conquer the new menace. But I've learned that this time he won't be that weird alien jet.
Transformers screenwriter Robert Orci has been talking about the sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. He is answering questions on a fan forum, and has covered topics such as Shia LaBeouf's injury and the difference between the two films.
I never used to watch Transformers when I was younger, but I did enjoy the first film. From what Robert Orci says it was only the beginning.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is currently filming, and Robert Orci is answering questions on TFW 2005, through First Showing.net. He talked about the slight change they have had to make to the script, to explain Shia LaBeouf's hand injury. He then talked about the difference in budget between the first and second films:
'there were a a couple things we couldn't do [in Transformers due to] budget, but also because they seemed too 'out there' to the studio. Some of those things we get to do in the second movie. After we see it, I'll point out which...Yes we do get a bit more dough. Expect an upgrade. And we also know better what we can do this time to maximize the mighty buck. And we have the secret weapon that is [producer] Ian Bryce.'
Sounds they are upping the ante in the sequel, and are being given the money to do so. As for themes, it is partly about Sam dealing with life away from home at college.
'...one of the themes is about the responsibilities you face when being away from home - reflected by Sam going to college and by the fact that the Transformers themselves, are of course, far from Cybertron....We were emulating the style of movie from the old Amblin days, like Back to the Future and Gremlins, which if you watch today are still very funny. Also, the cartoon itself was quite funny. Also, comedy makes things more accessible to a larger audience.'
I don't really have the cartoons to refer back to, but I did like the humour of the first so more of that works for me. Orci also talked about the pressure of making the second one, and what it is that makes it so difficult.
'The first movie is all about the mystery and reveal of the Transformers as a concept and a species, which means we had to hide them a lot in the first hour. In the second movie, now that everyone believes in the universe, we can jump right into the world of the Transformers The hardest aspect is that you lose the element of surprise. We got away with a lot in the first movies because for a long time, no one thought it would work, or that it was just a silly cartoon, and simply proving that wrong is all we had to do. The first movie was meant to be somewhat of a mystery. For the sequel, we need an entirely different structure and paradigm for the movie, and we can't rely on it being the first.'
So it doesn't sound like they are resting on their laurels. Not having a long vested interest in Transformers I pretty much watched the first film with fresh eyes. Apart from some parts which were aimed at kids a bit too much, I enjoyed it. And it sounds like they are taking it further in the sequel.
Are you a die-hard Transformers fan? Is Robert Orci saying all the right things? Or did the first one disappoint?
It looks like the Constructicon Devastator will be featured in the upcoming movie. Here's an image to jog your memories...
From TWF2005: Seven construction vehicles merge to form Devastator - Devastator has lots of upper body strength, like a gorilla - Not just green, some of the vehicles are red and yellow
