Big Willy Style likes these sort of movies doesnt he, and he acts well in them for the most part. The movie premise looks interesting, will have to wait and see what else comes out about it.
They ran an advert for it on TV last night. It appears to be Will Smith alone in a futuristic post war New York with a load of CGI animals and monsters.
It really looks a fun movie and im a fan of will smith, really cool guy and a very good actor. From the clips i saw, it does look quite an eery film with just smith the only human around a completley deserted New York.
I was thinking abaout going to see this DM, but I've heard mixed reviews. As a fountain of all movie knowledge and expertise, do you reckon its worth the £6.50 plus popcorn etc to go and see it?
Depends. If your a fan of Will SMith then yes. If your looking for a decent night out then probably. If your looking for Oscar winning groundbreaking effects and a really scary movie then no.
I thought the movie was good. Not amazing, but good.the first half an hour I thought was awesome, but it slowly went down hill, and the ending was rather rushed.
Seen this, wasnt anywhere near as good as hoped. Will did act well, but it was slow to start, nice bit of action in the middle, then crap ending. not what i was hoping for. Oh well. was worth seeing though
I Am Legend DVD Announcement Source: Warner Bros. Home EntertainmentFebruary 1, 2008
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has issued DVD release plans for the smash-hit I Am Legend starring Will Smith.

The Special Edition (two-discs) touts a new "controversial ending" affixed to an alternate cut of the film along with four animated comics (Death as a Gift, Isolation, Sacrificing the Few for the Many and Shelter) and DVD-ROM special features go behind-the-scenes of the production.
The standard edition comes with the comics and DVD-ROM goodies.
I watched it and really enjoyed it, but you could have warned me it would have me crying!
I thought the theatrical ending was good, but didn't much like the alternative ending.
I'll wrap my next comments in a spoiler as they are my thoughts about the story that would ruin bits for people not seen it yet.
Spoiler
The scene with sam getting infected and having to be killed had me crying so much.
I also had a read on the original book that I am Legend is based on. In that the disease caused symptoms similar to vampirism, so don't like light or garlic and feed on the uneffected. So they keep the aversion to UV light and a kind of feeding as effects of the disease in the film.
In the book he is trying to cure the disease too, but at the end of the novel, he has a glimpse of a future society in which infection is the norm and Neville is a murderous deviant. As this happens, he realizes that, just as vampires used to be legends in times before the infection, he is now a legend to the new "Human race" after the infection.
After reading this it makes the alternative ending as that is what they were trying to show, the infected were not the rabit crazy people they thought and had some understanding and that Will Smiths character was seen as someone killing them and not trying to save them.
