I feel we need a thread for what is sure to become a 'classic' show. The redux now has hulk Hogan and Lilani Ali as the hosts and the Gladiators are being announced and Im sure we can post on who they are as the thread carries on. (We don't want to blow our load in the forst post). So all related chat in here please.
I got a signed pic of Jet. My sister used be a local in the pub where Jet & Hunter frequented to. He tried to put moves on her too. She told him to get lost.
I loved Gladiators and i loved the monster Heel that was wolf the best, he was awesome. It was fun saturday night entertainment that is sorely lacking these days (i dislike x factor..far to many Music talent shows on tv now).I always thought Rio was the most lovely gladiator myself!
Yup it was WCW Worldwide they aired not Saturday Night. but sometimes they would run matches from Saturday Night to replace some of the US only material like PPV promos and stuff.
No it is doomed to fail because it is an outdated gimmick (look how small the crowds are - the UK version used to fill the Birmingham NIA arena), Hulk Hogan is hosting and nothing has changed since last time.
It's got a cult feel about it already. I actually think it will work now what with combat sports at an alltime high for popularity. Ialways thought that the US version was far better because it was more... rough.
Honestly, I don't even know if I'll watch this. For some reason, it just doesn't interest me. I may be too young to fully appreciate the original show, but I've seen it before (and liked it), as we STILL have reruns on over here on ESPN Classic.

Gladiators averaged a 5.9 adults 18-49 rating from 9 to 11 p.m., according to Nielsen overnights, becoming the highest-rated new show on any network this year and generating NBC's best non-sports numbers in the timeslot in more than three years.
The NBC show, which moves to its regular timeslot tonight, peaked with a 6.1 during its final half hour at 10:30 after averaging a 5.5 in its first half hour. That helped NBC finish within a tenth of a point of leaders ABC and CBS for the night.
- The "American Gladiators" scored a 3.2 broadcast rating for the final episode of the season on 2/17.
- They are doing more casting in search of new gladiators. The word is that they aren't happy with the personalities of some of the male gladiators, and are looking for more "over the top" type personalities.

I also felt we needed som more Crush action in this thread....
Just a minor thing, I never understood why American Gladiators never had uniforms representing their name, the way the British one's did? I just remember that really puzzling me as an 8 year old when they came over here. My Dad seemed to think the girls names were irrelevant for some reason...
Well as pointed out in chat the re start to the new UK version of Gladiators have picked their new hosts... Ian Wright is hardly Hulk Hogan is he....?
Kirsty Gallacher and Ian Wright are to present the return of 1990s Saturday night action game show Gladiators. The programme, which sees members of the public pitched against "gladiators" in physical games and tasks, will be screened on Sky One.
Original referee John Anderson will also return, with contestants competing for a £50,000 prize.
Sky said the new programme, due to begin in May, would be given a "21st Century makeover".
Wright said: "Gladiators is a great show and I am thrilled to be involved.
"Since people first heard it was coming back, the response has been phenomenal and I am so excited that a new generation get to experience it."
Gallacher added: "I grew up with Gladiators so I couldn't be more excited to be involved in the new series.
"It promises to be great entertainment on a major scale and I can't wait to get started."
A brand new line-up of gladiators will be unveiled later this month.
The programme, which ran from 1992 to 2000 on ITV, was originally presented by former weather presenter Ulrika Jonsson and ex-footballer John Fashanu.
Sky's remake follows the recent successful resurrection of the US version, American Gladiators, now hosted by former wrestler Hulk Hogan and Muhammad Ali's daughter, Laila.
I used to like Kirsty Gallacher until I saw her on a reality type sports programme where she behaved like a total foul mouthed slag. Went right off her after that.
So your all for it then. I take it the show you mean is The Games? I thought she came across very well on that, a bit over competitive but good none the less. When you think about it Kirsty is the new Ulrika to Wrighty's Fash. makes perfect sense.
Not for me,Kirsty has little personality to me,just a pretty face, nothing intresting about her i think but im sure both she and Wrighty will do an ok job of presenting the show.I heard a few rumours on Gladiator Zone that Wolf may come back as a commentator,or at least he attempted to..if so that would be so cool.
In addition to Matt Morgan, wrestlers Matt Wiese (Luther Reigns) and Daniel Rodimer are under consideration to become new gladiators. Rodimer is from "Tough Enough." Dave Meltzer is under the impression that Wiese has been offered a contract for the show, but still no word regarding Rodimer.
Thank you for helping to make American Gladiators on NBC a big success.

Thank you!!! The American Gladiators Production Team
r.e.: OBLIVION (worst PR pic ever); he looks like a guy the WWE would use for a HEAT/VELOCITY squash match! He's probably fantastic at the arial type events though
To me Oblivion looks like Wayne Rooney! and theres not enough flesh shown in the leg area for me dammit on some of the cute girls outfits! But apart from that, pretty cool, Atlas looks like Hunter..
American Gladiators update. Matt Morgan is off the season 2 roster for American Gladiators. WO provides with the reason why....
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that TNA star Matt Morgan is off of this season of "American Gladiators." NBC wanted Morgan to sign for two seasons, which he agreed to, but they wanted an option for up to six years. The network also insisted that 'Gladiators' be his first priority. Due to Morgan's TNA push and the house show schedule, Morgan is dedicated to professional wrestling.
If you mean the recent documentaries like the A to Z and the history of the show then those are the retro shows I was referring to.
They brought back some memories (Jet....drool...) and now I'm slightly interested. but I don't like the two hosts so that may put me off. Then again I hated Ulrika and Fash too so...
