Some more casting notes for you:

The IESB has gotten word on the casting of Storm Shadow in Paramounts upcoming live-action GI Joe film.

IESB buddy Ray Park was announced previously as Snake Eyes. But the role of Storm Shadow was still, well, in the shadows.

So who is going to be bringing this nifty ninja to life? How about Byung-hun Lee. I know, I knowwho? Well, heres the stats. Hes 27 years old and from Korea originally. He is currently shooting The Good, The Bad and The Weird starring as The Bad.

Check out his image below and expect an official announcement from Paramount Pictures very soon.

We have also heard Rachel Nichols as Scarlett but have had no confirmation on that one, we will let you know asap.

UPDATE!! Paramount Pictures has sent over official studio confirmation, read below -

Asian movie star, Byung-Hun Lee, has been cast as Storm Shadow in Paramount Pictures GI JOE. He will be playing a character with a dark and complex history who is one of the most popular and enigmatic characters of the GI JOE universe. According to GI JOE lore, Storm Shadow was trained by the same Ninja master as Snake Eyes, a member of the elite GI JOE team, but now fights against him.

Stephen Somers will direct the live-action feature based on Hasbro's line of action figures. Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce with Hasbro chief operating officer Brian Goldner along with Sommers and his partner Bob Ducsay serving as producers as well. Hasbro's Goldner said that the mythology of G.I Joe was fleshed out during the 1980s through 155 issues of Marvel Comics, as well as an animated TV series. There are about 30 core characters, good and evil, that can be exploited in films.
Lee Byung-hun made his debut in 1991 starring in TV drama Asphalt My Hometown and has since become a widely known actor in Korea and many Asian countries.

He made his movie debut in 1995 with "Who Drives Me Mad?" Though quite popular already from his television work, his real breakthrough came in 2000 with movie "Joint Security Area." The movie, at that time, was the highest grossing film in Korean history. He then starred in "Bungee Jumping of Their Own" in early 2001. These 2 movies had won him multiple awards, including the prestigious Blue Dragon Award and Dae-jong Award. Other tv credits include Happy Together (1999) and Beautiful Life (2001), which were popular in Korea; and later on built his international fame when the dramas were shown in other Asian countries. He became one of the most talked about stars in Asia when he dated popular Korean actress Song Hye-kyo, his co-star in highly rated TV drama All In (2003). Their relationship ended in 2004. Lees later movie like Everybody Has Secrets (2004) and A Bittersweet Life (2005) were quite well received as well.

Having recently attended the Tokyo International Film Festival to promote his new romantic comedy, Everybody Has Secrets, Lee and his co-star Choi Ji-woo were swarmed by 300 photographers and 800 reporters at the press conference.

"Rachel Nichols has been cast as Scarlett in the big screen live-action adaptation of GI JOE. Scarlett is one of the original members of the GI JOE team, she is skilled in martial arts and hand-to-hand combat and specializes in counter-intelligence."

Some more casting news...

The cast for G.I. Joe is now almost complete, actors Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Said Taghmaoui have joined the spec-ops team.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje will play ordnance expert Heavy Duty and Taghmaoui (Kite Runner) will play the team's communications specialist code name Breaker.
Heavy Dutys real name in the comics and cartoons was Lamont A. Morris and was from Chicago, Illinois. Breakers real name was Alvin R. Kibbey and was from Gatlinburg, Tennessee but all appearances are that some of the Joes origins may not stay canon and instead give us the global team that has been mentioned before.

Adewale and Said will join Ray Park (Snake Eyes), Sienna Miller (The Baroness), Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow) and Rachel Nichols (Scarlet). Sam Worthington might be playing Duke but the last we heard from the studio is that they are still waiting to hear if his schedule on Avatar will allow him a start date in February.

Another casting decision... News from AICN.

Hey folks, Harry here - I heard today that tomorrow afternoon a press release will be going out to the trades and various outlets that a certain young actor had been cast as DUKE - leader of our beloved G.I. JOE crew. Now - I'm not entirely sure about this actor - mainly because he hasn't really been given this sort of exposure - and this sort of character responsibility before - at least in a movie we've seen yet.

DUKE will be played by Channing Tatum, a 27 year old actor from Alabama. He was an uncredited "Boy in church scene" in Spielberg's WAR OF THE WORLDS - you might remember him from SHE'S THE MAN or STEP UP. His best work to date was in A GUIDE TO RECOGNIZING YOUR SAINTS.

Coming up - I've heard really strong word on his performance in Kimberly Peirce's STOP LOSS, coming up this March 28th. He's also headling a film with Terrence Howard and Luis Guzman for ROGUE PICTURES called FIGHTING. He's a young actor that is on the rise. Now I figure the biggest complaint that's coming is that he's just 27 - and that Duke should be played by a more battle-tested aged badass.

Well, we'll see him get battle-tested in STOP LOSS - but whether you love it or hate it - he's going to be DUKE for Stephen Sommer's G.I.JOE!!!
