What I find intresting is that movies like Charlie Wilson's War, Sweeny Todd and Walk Hard haven't even been released yet still they get nominated!!!!
Lust, Caution is Ang Lee's latest film and it scored a Rated R-17 certificate in the US cos Tony Leung does a nude scene and Americans' think Asian men don't have genitalia.
The Simpsons Movie is also the only film I have seen on that list.
Haha...most films with casual nudity are rated R in the US. It doesn't usually get a tougher rating unless it's hardcore porn. We are not very stringent with the ratings of R movies. You sometimes have to do some research yourself if you want to know the real story about movies.

Yeah...most casual nudity is given an R-rating (you must be 17 years old to buy or watch without an accompanying adult). There is actually some talk about generating a new rating in between R (17 years old) and X (or "Not Rated" officially) ratings, to be used for movies with casual nudity. But the Motion Picture Rating Association of America (MPRAA) is a bunch of idiots and that probably won't happen for a long time. If you ask me, however, we already have enough censorship and bans on our stuff.

I find it ironic that nudity on TV and films is a big deal in the US when you have a legal sex film industry that makes billions of dollars a year for the country.
Anyway, if you didn't know our ratings system is different over here:
E = Exempt from classification
U = Universal
PG = Parental Guidance
12 = 12 and over (mild swearing and mild action acceptable)
12A = 12 accompanied by an adult (see above with a bit more leniency)
15 = 15 and over (nudity, swearing and violence allowed)
18 = 18 and over (pretty much anything goes except hardcore sex)
A lot of the comedies that are Rated R in the US (like American Pie) make 15 ratings over here.
Yeah, our ratings association is really a piece of turd. There is a big stink made every few years about a certain movie (like Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ), and it makes them look stringent and all that jazz, but they are really just a bunch of idiots.
I knew a little about your ratings, and they aren't all that different from ours.
NR-Not Rated (porn and stuff like docs and UFC DVDs and such...really anything that's not a movie).
G-General. Mostly kids movies (same as your U rating).
PG-Same as yours
PG-13-Must be accompanied by an adult if under 13. "Parents are strongly cautioned."
R-Nobody under 17 admitted without an adult.
NC-17-Nobody under 17 admitted at all.

So porn is "unrated" in the US yet virtually illegal over here! Brilliant!
Also, TV, music and sports releases are subject to certificates too. WWE DVDs are pretty much 15 or 18 ratings now and UFC are the same. If there is bad language or sexual content in music videos they get similar ratings. Whilst TV shows are rated on TV their DVD releases are and of course they vary with the content.
Porn is "not rated" (which is actually not an official rating, as the MPAA doesn't even rate porn), but you still have to be 18 to buy it. I actually had no idea that porn was virtually illegal in the UK. I guess that explains why all of the British girls I see in pornos are usually with American men. :D

I'm not sure of the specifics but I believe that porn is only available through specialist and licensed sex shops although I think that stuff is still somewhat censored.
Of course, thanks to the internet you can get around that and buy hardcore from anywhere in the world now!
