I thought there might be an anime link somewhere. Either that or it had something to do with matthew Reilley's Hover Car Racer, although thats been optioned by Disney.
and it was a pretty damn good series, well it was last time i watched it, but as i have seen recently, i did watch alot of crap when i was younger :). should be interesting, do we know who is playing speed racer?
To be fair it is aimed at kids and Im sure one of the anime crew will correct me if im wrong, but they've done it in a anime style if the cartoon was live action.
This would have been better off being an animated/GCI remake or at least kept the racing hi-tech but plausible. Aimed at kids or not, this looks awful.
So today I went to the Empire in Liecester Sq. (My favorite cinema.) and attended the Multimedia Press screening with my 6 year old. Visusally thi si amazing plot and character wise it sucks the big one, don't even get me started on the script. However the races and the general overall look of SR outweighs all of that. I had a proper adreneline rush in the last race. Overall better than I thought, plus it has the bonus of staying pretty faithful the the original source. If your a petrol head worth a look.
Aint It Cool is infamous film site Harry Knowles and his team are 'looked after' by the film studios because over the years Harry and his co-horts have been able to get spys into and onto film sets and screenigns and get the info out to the masses first. So much so that it has been said if Harry pans a film then it doesn't do very well.

Speed Racer flops at box-office; woe for live-ac anime films
On Friday last week, the latest Wachowski "Matrix trilogy" brothers action movie Speed Racer (based on the 1960s anime series Speed Racer (aka Mach GoGoGo)) opened in theaters worldwide, but has so far failed to achieve the kind of box-office sales required to be the big-budget Hollywood summer blockbuster many expected it to be. The film (now being classed as 'flop') took $20.2 million, far below the already scaled-down estimation of $30+ million.
With this news in mind, it brings into question the potential financial viability of the several other big-budget live action anime adaptations currently in-production; including the fast-approaching Dragonball movie, which has already been filmed, and the highly anticipated new Akira and Ghost in the Shell movie projects.
It wasn't helped by the fact that it was released the week AFTER Iron Man which has done huge box office either. They normally wait at least 2 weeks on major summer releases.
I actually cant wait to see this, its a film i know i would love being as im of child like mind ^_^.Im a big fan of Rain, the popular korean singer, who is a good actor so ill keep my eyes out for his role as well as Yu Nan.
