So what do you predict for the wrestling world in 2008 guys? Lets hope its a better year for the mainstream promotions in the US because in my opinion its been quite a poor year for both WWE and TNA. Joshi on the other hand and womens wrestling in general has been awesome and im looking forward to more quality wrestling and new young stars coming up in Joshi.l My predicitions for 2008 are...
WWE John Cena and Batista will have a feud midyear leading to a summerslam match up between the 2.
Batista and Lashely will fued, with bobby turning heel, leading to a match at wrestlemania. Lashley will return and win the 2008 royal rumble.
Triple H will turn heel and have another series of matches against shawn micheals, over the WWE title possibley.
Kane will continue to Job and do nothing this year while Undertaker will retain his undefeated wrestlemania streak by beating edge.
More bimbos will be hired, then fired, then hired again, mostly blonds with no wrestling talent.Victoria will continue to be misused while Mickie, Candice, Beth and newcomer Nattie Neidheart will exchange the womens title over the year.
CM Punk will win the intercontinental title on raw after trading.
ECW wil cease to excist.
Expect the releases of Jimmy Wang Yang, Charlie Hass, Big daddy V, the Majors, Torrie wilson and the Great Khali.
TNA Kurt Angle will continue to dominate TNA, with Booker and him having several matches together.
The Big show will turn up in TNA.
The womens division will be turned into a joke with amazing kong jobbing to everyone or being released.
Sting will leave TNA, Bob Sapp will join along with a couple of WWE rejects. Samoa Joe will also leave.
Thats all for now, will do some more predicting later on the Joshi scene and japan ^^.l
Vince McMahon will continue to push himself all over TV despite his character being more stale than a month old loaf of bread.
Bionic H will continue to dominate RAW as usual
The steroids issue will slowly die down and guy will be back on the juice before you know it
Ric Flair will be inducted in the HOF and have his last match at WM 24
John Cena will come back yet the ratings will not jump as expected
Bobby Lashley will return and no-one will care.
Whoever holds the World Title on SD will end up injured again so it ends up being passed around like a hot potato
Maria's Playboy magazine will come out - surprise surprise - in time for WM 24.
Mick Foley and Stone Cold will be brought out for more appearances and still do sweet FA to the ratings
The last Diva Search winner will be released before she even gets into a WWE ring
Shitsky will STILL not be over
Matt Hardy finally wins the US title from MVP.
Rey Mysterio injures his knee again.
WWE creative will still suck and instead of firing the creative they'll fire more wrestlers
TNA
The company will continue to haemorrhage money yet they'll still shell out for ex-WWE stars and celebs in the news that no-one cares about
The booking will become more and more incomprehensible and the wrong people will continue to be pushed
More gimmick matches will be given away on free TV while PPVs will be loaded top to bottom with them thus devaluing them immensely
The lines between heels and faces will be blurred so much that even the wrestlers get confused as to what role there are supposed to portray
Jeff Jarrett will try another return to the ring and still not be over like last time.
Jim Cornette will leave TNA then do a huge shoot where he blames it on Russo (and will be right as well)
Samoa Joe will finally win the TNA World title but it wont mean jack so he'll drop the belt a soon after to Karen Angle.
The X-Division will be buried even more than it is now
VKM will still have a job despite not being over or being able to work
Japan
NOAH - Takeshi Morishima will finally beat Misawa for the GHC Title but his first defence at Budokan won't be a sell out so they'll hot shot back to Misawa or Akiyama.
NOAH - Kobashi vs Misawa will once again take place this year.
NOAH - No new stars will be made so the undercards will be the same old random tag and 6 man tag matches.
NOAH - KENTA and Naomichi Marufuji will continue to tread water in the tag ranks and upper card respectively and not pushed as the future aces of the company
AJPW - Muto's booking will be quite inventive and will give a lot of younger guys more of a chance to shine but attendances will still be low
AJPW - Hopefully Osamu Nishimura's big announcement on Jan 2nd will NOT be that his cancer has returned and that he has to leave the sport again, just a few months after joining AJPW.
AJPW - Katsuhiko Najakima will regain the Jr Heavyweight title after the controversial finish in his last match that saw the title being held up
AJPW - Kensuke Sasaki will drop the Triple Crown to either Muto or Kawada
NJPW - Nagata will defeat Kurt Angle at the Dome on Jan 4th to win the fake IWGP title then drop it to Shinsuke Nakamura - who will defeat Hiroshi Tanahashi for the real IWGP title - in a title unification bout
NJPW - Hirooki Goto and Nakamura will feud over the title despite being part of the same group RISE.
NJPW - The IWGP Jr title will be passed around like a hot potato again.
NJPW - NJPW will see another increase in popularity and attendance as the younger stars prove their worth in carrying the company forward.
IGF - Inoki's shows will continue to be bomb as he fails to put together interesting cards and his ridiculous idea of not announcing them until the day of the show continues to back fire.
HUSTLE - Will continue to be as barking mad as ever yet stil draw bigger houses that the other major promotions do.
Joshi - Will continue its subsistence on its current small scale.
The same old names will headline SENDAI and OZ Academy while NEO flounders with Haruka Matsuo as champ who will drop the belt because it was "too much too soon" for her.
Your right i guess david ^^ anyway i dont see any of your predicitions to far fetched apart from the Samoa joe one which will never happen i think. Anyway more predictions from me.
Joshi
Yoshiko Tamura, Azumi Hyoga, Makoto, the Shirai sisters,Kyoko Kimura and Ayumi Kurihara will be the stars of Joshi in 2008.More young girls will improve and make the Joshi world stronger.
Sendai will continue to get stronger and better, i believe itll be a big company one day espicially under the guidance of Meiko Satomura.
LLPW will keep being boring along with Oz Academy which i still enjoy but most of the older guard need to retire, perhaps Manami Toyota, Aja Kong and Mayumi Ozaki will finally quit.
Yuki Miyazaki will finally win a singles title and have a couple of matchs with tanny mouse which i would love to see ^^, i love her!
Kyoko Kimura will lose her afro and wrestle in her dreadlocks again (I love those)
You seem to have overlooked one tiny thing - DDP was already in TNA back in 2005 and only lasted a few months and didn't really get over that well. If they wanted him back don't you think he'd have been back by now?
And you didn't know he was 51? he didn't start wrestling until he was 36 and by the time he hit the main event in 1999 he was 42!!
Kane won't win the world title although he'll probably be a challenger down the line.
Carlito has been given a renewed contract and push in WWE so he's staying put.
TNA won't go near MMA because they don't need to (much like WWE don't) and they certainly won't touch Khali. WWE tried to cross over with Shamrock vs Severn in 1998 and it failed big time because it wasn't wrestling.
Antonio Inoki in Japan has prove that wrestling and MMA don't work either which is why NJPW started to crumble towards the end of his tenure there and why the IGF sucks.
You never know in the wrestling buisness Mib! Who would have thought one year or so ago, Kurt Angle would have joined TNA, Chris The Murderer would have sadly passed on, Big show retiring and training to become a boxer and a story line with Vince Mcmahon having an irish migit for a son.In one years time Kane may well be a world champion, Carlito being a top tna star ect..^^.
I don't know Im off sick and I miss a bunch of new threads...
Anyway:
WWE I expect Matt Hardy, MVP, Mr.Kennedy (Unfortunately) to get main event status by the summer with one of them winning a world title.
Ric Flair will go out on a high at WM in a retirement match against a world champ probably Orton winning by DQ or Countout.
HHH will get a world title by years end and have RAW once again revolving around him
Snitsky will be released.
TNA Kurt Angle will continue to be TNAs HHH although he will put together some good matches.
Samoa Joe will time and ime again be overlooked for the World Title. Robert Roode however won't and at some point will probably get a run with the belt.
TNA will continue to employ former WWE performers overlooking some of their own homegrown talent.
Team 3D, Abyss and Christian Cage will defect over to the WWE at some point in 2008 and realise what a mistake they have just made.
Goldust was a great gimmick when it started with the movie quotes and such, but they loused it up when they decided to make him sexually ambiguous. Then there was that stupid heel turn when he became TAFKA Goldust and the character was forever ruined.
In WCW they called him "Seven" for one appearance. For some reason they killed it off on it's debut by having Dustin cut a "shoot" promo ragging on the character!
Black Reign *could* have worked with a different (i.e younger and better worker) in the role and not having an out of shape 40 year old guy already known as Goldust doing it as an alter ego he can't control. That ruins it.
I agree Goldust was one of the best gimmicks in a very gimmick flooded time. But the WWE did thier usual error of trying to fix something that wasn't broken.
I want to see someone young and exciting to win a world title this year. Failing that (which the WWE will enevitably do) then atleast give it to someone who's earned it. Not people who have been put over for 2 months and the treated as a main eventer, just because the WWE has forgotten how to farm and develop talent.
I have watched WWF/WWE for 15years. I might not make it to 16.
