'83 will be coming from London woo! So another trip to see the UF of C. My mate Houston Alexander has annoounced he is signed to fight James Irvin on the card, so should be another banging affair. I suppose the Count will be there too for his first Middleweight bout as well.

Wonder what the main event will be? Possibly a Title fight?  I suppose it would be too early for Rampage Vs. Griffin

Some news filtering through on '83 now.

Rumors of the bout have popped up for weeks, but we can now confirm that former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin (22-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) and The Ultimate Fighter 4 winner Travis Lutter (9-4 MMA, 2-3 UFC) will meet at UFC 83, which takes place April 19 at Montreals Bell Centre.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) confirmed the fight with Franklins camp over the weekend, and the UFC made it official in todays UFC 83 press conference and on UFC.com.

The Franklin-Lutter fight will complement UFC 83s main event, which is a title unification bout between UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra and interim champ (and French Canadian) Georges St. Pierre.

As MMAjunkie.com was the first to report, the Franklin-Lutter was originally targeted for next months UFC 82 event in Columbus, Ohio. However, Franklin, who fights out of Cincinnati as part of Team Jorge Gurgel, recently underwent surgery for a torn meniscus he suffered in his right knee. He was originally expected to be sidelined until June.

The 33-year-old Franklin hasnt fought since a second-round TKO to Anderson Silva at Cincinnatis UFC 77 event in October. Franklin initially lost his belt to Silva at UFC 64 in October 2006 but rebounded for victories over Jason MacDonald and Yushin Okami to earn the rematch. Prior to that fight at UFC 77, Franklin signed a new six-fight deal with the UFC that goes into effect for his fight with Lutter.

Lutter hasnt fought since a UFC 67 main-event loss to UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Lutter, who earned the title shot by winning the middleweight division of The Ultimate Fighter 4s comeback season, stunned fans and UFC officials when he was unable to get under the 185-pound threshold during weigh-ins. He later admitted that his body simply quit sweating in the final hours of weight cutting. The fight was changed to a three-round non-title bout, and despite a competitive first round, Lutter suffered a submission loss via triangle choke in the second.

Lutter was then supposed to fight Ryan Jensen at UFC 74 in August, but he had to pull out of the bout with a neck injury.

In less than a day, the UFC has sold more than 13,000 tickets for its April 19 event in Montreal.

UFC President Dana White released the sales figures during todays UFC 83 press conference in Montreal, which was carried by Yahoo! Sports, a content-partner site of MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). White was joined at the media event by UFC welterweight champ Matt Serra and interim champ Georges St. Pierre, who meet in UFC 83s main event.

Tickets for the event, which takes place at Montreals Bell Centre, went on sale yesterday afternoon to members of the UFCs fan club. Despite the clubs $74.99 annual membership fee, White said more than 13,000 tickets were sold to members during the pre-sale.

It was 13,375 tickets in that ballpark, White said of the pre-sale. There are only a couple thousand left for sale right now.

The Bell Centre can accommodate approximately 21,500 spectators.

Tickets dont go on sale to the general public until Thursday.

I dont think anyone realizes how many Canadian fans are here, White said. I dont care where we go, theres always a ton of Canadian fans there so well keep bringing events (to Canada).

UFC 83 will be the first-ever event in Canada for the Las Vegas-based fight organization, despite a huge MMA following in the country. The UFC announced its intentions of holding two previous events in the country, but plans for the shows were eventually scrapped due to scheduling conflicts.

The UKs own Mike Bisping (who has added me on his facebook recently) is also on the card in his first fight since he has dropped to Middleweight, facing Charles McCarthy.

The main event as well should be excellent, but on current form Serra better bring his best game otherwise St.Pierre will eat him live.

I don't know Serra is very very good, especially if he gets it to the ground.. On current form though you wouldn't bet against George.

THe final line up for this event is sorted. here is a report from MMAJunkie

The UFC recently posted the final televised card for "UFC 83: Serra vs. St. Pierre 2," an event that takes place April 19 at Montreal's Bell Centre.

It's the first-ever UFC event held in Canada and is scheduled to air via pay-per-view.

UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra meets interim champ (and French-Canadian) Georges St. Pierre in the night's headline bout. The interim title was created after Serra was forced to pull out of a UFC 79 main event with Matt Hughes due to injury; St. Pierre fought -- and defeated -- Hughes in his place.

The full card can be found at UFC.com.

Serra and St. Pierre first fought in April 2007. Serra won the welterweight division of "The Ultimate Fighter 4" and was granted an automatic title shot with then-champ St. Pierre. In one of the sport's biggest upsets, Serra scored a first-round TKO to claim the 170-lb. title.

One noteworthy omission from the televised card is a Jason MacDonald vs. Joe Doerksen fight. MacDonald is a middleweight mainstay in the UFC who fights of Edmonton, and Doerksen hails from Manitoba. The two fighters first met at an October 2005 Ultimate Cage Wars event. MacDonald won via fourth-round submission.

The full card includes:

MAIN CARD

Champ Matt Serra vs. Georges St. Pierre (title-unification bout)
Rich Franklin vs. Travis Lutter
Nate Quarry vs. Kalib Starnes
Michael Bisping vs. Charles McCarthy
Marc Bocek vs. Mac Danzig
PRELIMINARY CARD

Joe Doerksen vs. Jason MacDonald
Rich Clementi vs. Sam Stout
Alan Belcher vs. Jason Day
Jonathan Goulet vs. Kuniyoshi Hironaka
Ed Herman vs. Demian Maia*
* -- Fight not confirmed by UFC

Cannont wait to see this... Im still not convinced St.Pierre will pull it off. Serra is still a great fighter. Hopefully Bisping will KO McCarthy as soon as Bisping gets in his face he will back off. Bocek/Danzig could be an intresting bout too although I expect Danzig to win comfortably.

I read in The Star that McCarthy was chatting shit about Bisping saying that he was "Very very average" and that Bisping feels like this fight is personal now.

I hope Bisping tears McCarthy a new one and I hope that Serra beats JSP.

Finally watched the event last night and what a cracker it was. Bisping looked incredible against McCarthy. Granted McCarthy isn't a top contender but on that display if Bisping can sort out getting caught in submissions he could be giving Franklin a run for his money in a few months time...

And what was Starnes thinking of? Well he got what was coming to him...

In Other News Recent Running Man Failure, Kalib Starnes was released from UFC Today.
"He just doesn't belong in the UFC and after his performance the other night, he should consider a new line of work," the UFC President Dana White told Yahoo.
