Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson returns to the cage to face legend David "Tank" Abbott in EliteXC: Kimbo vs. Tank on Saturday, February 16, 2008. Many people are saying that this will prove if Kimbo deserves to be in an MMA ring/cage, and I agree. If he can't knock the over-the-hill Tank out, then he should retire from MMA and go back to streetfighting clowns.

Yes, but beating Tank will prove more than beating Bo Cantrell did. And trust me, Tank isn't going to get KO'd from a shoulder punch. Tank isn't going to be afraid of Kimbo and he isn't going to go in there thinking that he is going to lose. So I guess that it will prove if Kimbo can beat somebody that isn't afraid of him, no matter what. It'll prove something, I'm sure.

So basically it played out like I said it would. This doesn't elevate him in my eyes, put him in with Ricco, that might go someway to proving he's a bit more than just a hitter.
I agree. Ricco will most likely be Kimbo's next opponent, followed by a possible fight with Antonio Silva if he wins that one. But don't forget that Bob Sapp is also signed to EliteXC...

Well news this morning is coming out that Paul Buentello is likely to be next on the slate for Kimbo. Now if Kimbo beats him I'll be impressed..
From MMA Weekly.
On Monday night, Paul The Headhunter Buentello made a special appearance on MMAWeekly Radio to issue a challenge to rising EliteXC star Kimbo Slice for a fight that already has mixed martial arts fans chattering about on the Internet.
People want to see it. I think everybody wants to see it. Me and Kimbo should lace up the gloves, said Buentello. Everybody wants to see it and I think its time. Hes fighting all the guys Ive already knocked out and Ive already exposed. He needs to get off that buffet line I put out there and come over to my Paul Buentello taco shop and see if we can get to work.
There were rumors of a fight between the two heavyweights after Buentello commented on a Kimbo street fight just a year ago and fans began to clamor and wonder if they would ever meet.
Everybody asks me when are you going to fight Kimbo? You should fight that Kimbo guy, said the American Kickboxing Academy fighter. Just give him much respect, hes been training and accomplished a lot in a year or so. Hes really putting his hands together, hes really putting his game plan together.
Buentello says he respects Kimbos growing MMA game and guarantees a slugfest would ensue.
I give him much respect. He stepped up. He went from street fighting to MMA and everybody thought he couldnt produce, but hes doing it, stated Buentello.
If I was a fan, I would definitely, I would want to see this fight. I would pay money to watch Paul Buentello fight Kimbo in a heartbeat.
He confirmed on the show that he would be competing on the upcoming March 29 Strikeforce card, although no opponent has been named yet.
After that fight, Buentello believes he should be the next match-up for the YouTube sensation known as Kimbo Slice.
Im just throwing the offer out there, he said. I know hed take the offer in a heartbeat, but he does have management.
For now Buentello will head back into training and prepare for his nest fight on March 29. Bob Sapp would kill Kimbo. That would not be pretty.
Buentello is utter crap. Kimbo will destroy him. They need to put him in with someone who's gonna challenge him.
Butr he's far more likely to give Kimbo a challenge than the far over the hill Tank. Maybe if Big Tim Sylvia leaves the UFC he would be a good test for Kimbo?
Sylvia is far too experienced, whilst I think he's boring to watch, I reckon he'd knock Kimbo's head off at the minute. Big Timmy is vastly underrated in my eyes.
