Now people we have the opportunity to move to a hosted VBulletin board which has certain implications.

1.  The board will be better publicised.
2. More functionality and ease of use
3. Your postcopunts and threads etc will all have to be restarted.
4. Another new domain name/URL to remember....


So should I move the board?  If we do it its going to cost me some money so If we do it want your full support.  Please post your comments below.

By "post counts being restarted" you mean we lose all of our current posts? Ie. Everything - a total restart from fresh?

I am not bothered about losing the post counts, but losing all the existing threads will be a pain. We have lots of good threads which are on going and many which are useful to refer back to for info such as some of the anime ones.

If it means starting the forum from scratch again I don't think it is a good idea, if there was some way of copying over all the existing threads, even if we lose our individual post counts I think it will be OK but that may not be possible.

I see the point about getting more publicity, but will it lose more by restarting than it will gain by staying as it is?

I don't really understand these things either, but I have to say I agree with Totty and Eve. Re-starting the threads would be an almighty pain, and may cause 'occasional' posters to lose interest completely. Plus, I reckon you guys with the mega-high post counts would be more than a little peeved!

I think my opinion counts for little here as a relative newcomer but I would agree that losing the current threads would suck. But if they stay I'm all for it.

That was my big issue. I contacted VBulletin about porting over threads but they said they don't support Activeboard so they wouldn't go.

Fair enough we shall stay put then. To be honest I prefer Activeboards now. Just wish they ahd a little more user functions for both User and Mods.
