Big Show Vs. Floyd Mayweather Angle

Here is the place to chat about this latest 'coup' by the WWE.  You can talk about the impact/direction and updates of the angle here.

Some news to kick off proceedings:

- Negotiations to bring in boxer Floyd Mayweather lasted almost a year. Shane McMahon put the final deal together and pitched the idea to his good friend Paul White aka Big Show. White was training to be a boxer but realised that it just would not work out. When the idea was pitched to Show he jumped on it and signed a new deal with WWE asap. No word yet on where the angle will go but WWE is mulling over all their options. It may depend on if Mysterio can go at Mania or not. One idea is to do Show vs Mysterio with Mayweather in Rey's corner. However if Rey can't go we might just see Show vs Mayweather in a wrestler vs boxer match.

A number of news outlets have picked up the story but ESPN has yet to bite thus far.

- We see the footage from last night of the Mayweather-Big Show angle. Big Show makes his way to the ring. Show sounds sincere as he says he was asked to come out tonight and apologize for last night. He says he may have got a big over confident and over excited because of his return. He asks Mayweather to come to the ring. He says he has been a WWE fan for years and he is the best fighter in the world. Mayweather isnt getting a great response tonight. Show says he was just looking for publicity last night and apologizes. They shake hands and Mayweather starts to walk off. Show decides hes got something to say, fans cheer. Show says Mayweather couldnt touch him if he wasnt on his knees. Show says he could take Mayweather out in 2 seconds. Show proposes a match, Best Fighter in the World vs. Largest Athlete in the World. Mayweather runs back to the ring and accepts. Mayweather teases throwing a punch, Big Show steps back quickly, Show smiles, Mayweather leaves.

Mayweather vs Big show in a boxer vs wrestler match? man that would suck.Iv seen the Muhammid Ali vs Inoki Travesty and this one would be far worse then that.Wasent it going to be a tag match with Rey Rey and Mayweather vs Show and Shane? Oh well, good publicity whatever happens for vince.

The tag match is more likely to happen especially with Rey injured.

My Digibox flipped out last night so RAW taped with no audio so I don't know how well this angle got over last night

The idea for The Big Show-Floyd Mayweather Jr. match changed several times last week. As previously noted, a tag team match was the original idea, but today's Wrestlemania press conference implied the match will be a one on one encounter.

Also, some people are rporting that the WWE are paying $20 million for his services...

Some news coming from Monday nights RAW:


The Floyd Mayweather elbow injury that Jim Ross noted on Raw last night is a work. Apparently the angle did not go as planned and tension between the Big Show and Mayweather camps grew rapidly. The Pro Wrestling Insider that a brawl nearly ensued, as the Mayweather crew wanted to show the wrestlers just how "tough" they are. There was alot of tension backstage after the segment aired. You might have noticed last night that Shane McMahon was legitimately knocked down on the ramp.
