Anyone else catch this surreal and funny comedy on ITV1 yesterday? Its a pretty odd story which tells about a young pie maker who when he was a boy,had amazing abilities of bringing dead people and animals back to life, with the catch being if he touched them again, they would die and never come back to life, and that another life has to be taken in return for the life he saved. It was a pretty good first episode with getting to know him as an adult and he gets to discover his long lost friend but only when she was found dead, of course he brang her back to life again and the 2 fell in love only to know they can never touch because of his ability ^-^.Anyone else see it and enjoyed it? Im looking forward to seeing more of it.
Usually when a heavily hyped US show comes to UK TV I ignore it as it is normally ends up being complete tosh but I watched this one for some reason and found it to be quite fun.
My only complaints where ITV's ridiculously placed ad breaks (5 minutes in?) and seeing a very skinny Anna Friel, who no doubt was told to lose weight because her already slender figure was considered fat by Hollywood standards!!
Other than that it looks like it could be a neat little show.
Yeah i found the ad breaks a right bother espicially right at the beginining when your trying to get into the story and it just cuts right to the ads.But it is a lot of fun as you said Mib.Its my kind of drama show actually, Surreal, funny, different,i tend to enjoy this kind of show rather then stuff like 24, Lost, and that stuff. Was surprised that the one and only Jim Dale was the narrator of the show to ;), Jim is my faverate Carry on star so its cool hes doing this show though he sounds so old now.
I watched this too. Fairly enjoyable, but I found the background music to be quite irritating, often it was far two loud and drowned out the speaking. Also, I like the idea of a narrator, but I thought it was over used. Hopefully, this was only for the first episode to set the scene, as it looks like it could be quite entertaining.
I'm sure it will be on ITV2 at some point during the week....
Besides, you could pick it up from episode 2 - all you need to know is that Ned, a pie maker, can bring dead people back to life but if they touch him a second time they die again. Ned has teamed up with a Private Investigator named Emerson Cod and he uses Ned's skill to help reap the rewards by asking the victims who killed them. Ned brings his first love Charlotte (aka Chuck) back to life and she helps out because everyone thinks she is already dead. But they cannot touch each other despite falling in love again.
That a few minor extras such as: the blonde waitress who fancies Ned but doesn't know why he keeps rejecting her; and Chuck's eccentric aunts with whom she lived with after her father's death (who were synchronised swimmers) and Ned's dog which is he afraid to touch as he was the first creature he brought back to life.
Watched it, rather liked it, American TV seems to be in a golden period...the show reminded me of Tim Burton Big Fish, odd, colourful, neat...
Hope it can find an audience on ITV, it could be hard. It feels like a show that would be more at home on Channel 4 or E4...its a bit too good and offbeat for ITV 1. Dont know what the Chav's will make of it. Oooo Im becoming a bloody snob, sorry!
Its strange though, I never quite have the patience to stick with these long running series...I was a LOST addict early on, but now only watch episodes where Sun features prominently, I kinda lost patience with the show.
According to some reports, the second episode of Pushing daisies will not be screened due to a tight schedule, meaning itll skip right to episode 3 this weekend which absoloutley sucks and its thanks to Euro 2008 which i wouldnt usually complain about but how on earth could ITV cock it up? There is 9 episodes of the series but they brodcasted it 8 weeks before Euro 2008 which means they will have to skip an episode.
I think they could have cut a later episode instead of the second episode at least, with it just starting up and getting to know about the characters, going from episode one to three will really ruin it i think. Is it that hard for ITV to plan the show 9 weeks in advance of Euro 2008? With england not in the competition as well so not many people will watch the euros so a week without it wouldnt be a miss.
Yes I am aware that there are numerous people with no taste in this country Totty, but my point is that if our country isn't represented in this particular tourney, there is no point broadcasting it on UK TV.
The ratings are always higher for England football games during these events which clearly validates my point that showing this event without them is just a waste of time.
Saying i have no taste eh? ;) I actually agree with you about that there is no point in showing the championships without our own country taking part in it but the tv rights are bought way before the qualifers so theres no way on avoiding them for non footie fans!
