WWE.com has an article confirming the Melina suffered a broken ankle two weeks ago on Raw and will be out of action for around five months as a result.
[I]Last week, two-time WWE Womens Champion Melina broke her heel when she took a hard fall during an inter-promotional Divas tag team match, becoming the latest Raw Diva to have her career put on hold. Melina talked exclusively with WWE.com about her injury.
My spirits are good. I was upset I was unable to finish the match the way I wanted to. I felt like I let Mickie down and I let the fans down, said an contemplative Melina. Im sad that Im unable to do anything at the moment. Things happen for a reason, I suppose.
Melina and WWE Womens Champion Mickie James were in a heated contest with SmackDown Divas Victoria and Natalya when she landed awkwardly. The two-time champion quickly grabbed her ankle and grimaced in pain. Now, the Diva will be out of action for up to five months.
I didnt think I was going to get hurt. I thought I was going to get up from [the injury]. When youre wrestling you dont feel it, because your adrenaline is rushing. I tried to get up, but I couldnt, Melina recalled about the moment incident occurred.
Melina said that since being betrayed by her former friends Beth Phoenix, Jillian and Victoria shes being more cautious about who becomes part of her inner-circle. However, Melina feels Mickie James has proven to be a valuable addition to her life.
Ive always been someone who could fight and stand up for myself, but this was a time where I was vulnerable. She gave up her own body to protect me in my moment of weakness, Melina said about the current Womens Champion. Despite our differences in the past, we have learned to move forward and continue to build our friendship. I thank her for that.
An injury for any Superstar or Diva can present a difficult challenge in their career. Having a strong support system is vital to a speedy recovery. Melina understands this and has a special message for her fans.
Thank you all for all your support and all your well wishes. It really touches my heart. Throughout my years with WWE Ive really done my best to give them everything that Ive got. I appreciate them for respecting what I do.
And for those who doubt that the former WWE Womens Champion will return to Diva glory think again.
Ive been doing this for a few years and been going strong. Theres no way Im going to stop. When I come back, I dont want to be the same Melina I was before. I want to give Raw an even better and improved Melina a Melina whos more determined and focused.
I like melina and hope shell recover soon from this set back.Hopefully shell get a new entrance routine and all that since shes face now, it doesnt suit her charachter to well.
Well, TNA's Moose's fate has already been decided:
TNA star Mickie Knuckles aka Moose reportedly suffered a broken leg at the IWA Mid-South event last night in Joliet, IL.
During her main event bout with Sara del Rey, Knuckles did a dive off an elevated area near the announcing position, coming down with what one person described to me as a double axe handle. del Rey attempted to catch Knuckles, but for some reason, she came down with all her weight on her right leg, which locked and snapped.
IWA Mid-South immediately canceled the remainder of the main event, asked fans to leave the venue and called for an ambulance. EMTs on the scene advised Knuckles she was going to likely need immediate surgery. We haven't heard much beyond that, although some posters at www.czwfans.com were comparing the injury to Sid Vicious' broken ankle in WCW, which doesn't bode well.
Knuckles was hired as the muscle for the Beautiful People last month when former ECW star Jazz, who was originally tapped for the role, had to decline due to her pregnancy. Jeff Jarrett and Scott D'Amore are said to have pushed hard for Knuckles to get the shot.
Knuckles was expected to sign a TNA deal imminently, although I don't know if the contract had been executed.
Mickie "Moose" Knuckle's surgery to repair a broken femur in her right leg was said to have been a complete success and she is expected to be able to leave the hospital on crutches in a few days. The surgery took longer than doctors initially expected due to the muscle mass in her leg.
Knuckles was fitted with a titanium rod in order to hold the bones in place during the healing process. The early prognosis is that Knuckles will need six months recovery and rehabilitation time before she can return to the ring. She's said to be in good spirits but in a lot of pain.
As reported yesterday on PWInsider.com, TNA intends to sign Knuckles when she is able to return to the ring.
sad for melina as she is the best worker in that division from a quality standpoint but as someone else said, injuries have a habit of improving you as a worker so it could well be the making of her. The division should really be booked around her rather than James who i also like but can be alittle ropey on offense at times
Hi everybody! I just wanted to give you a little heads up...
As Dennis Spencer speculated, at our recent house show in Georgia, I did indeed dislocate my right shoulder after taking Shelton's finisher. I basically landed with my arm stretched across my body. My body weight, his body weight, and the force that he applied in delivering the maneuver caused my shoulder to pop right out of the socket. I'm going to tell you right now, it was honestly the most painful thing that I have ever endured in my life up to this point. (Aside from watching a Great Khali promo.) I was able to get some relief in the locker room after being held down by two people while a doctor pulled, twisted, and popped it back into place. The pain immediately went from a 10 to 1, and I was so relieved that I actually started laughing.
Over the course of the past few days I have had four different MRI's in four different places...absolutely AWESOME when you're extremely claustrophobic. Yesterday, I visited an orthopedic surgeon in GB who specializes in shoulder surgeries. He did a "Great Swami" routine on me by twisting and feeling around my shoulder, and then attempted to schedule a shoulder surgery that would keep me out of action for 6 months BEFORE even looking at the MRI. I was obviously a bit skeptical and decided to get a second opinion.
Today, I traveled to the Andrews Institute in Pensacola, Florida to see Dr. James Andrews - a renowned orthopedic surgeon. I spent the day undergoing different tests, including an MRI, range of motion, etc. Dr. Andrews offered me great advice and a different approach towards rehabilitation.
Here's the deal: I have a torn labrum, which basically is a muscle in the shoulder joint that holds everything in place. I also have some damage in the rotator cuff muscles, but it's from the accumulative effects of being in the ring for ten years. I'm going to spend the next two weeks in Pensacola doing two-a-day rehab sessions. I will also be working out the other parts of my body that aren't hurt by swimming, sprinting, cycling, leg training, and eating 6 nutritious high protein meals a day. After two weeks, Doc Andrews will assess my progress and determine if I have to have surgery or not. If not, I'll have an additional 2 to 4 weeks before I can return to the ring. If surgery is required, I'll be out for 4-6 months. Obviously, I'm hoping for the first option. Regardless of the severity of my injury, I will be working as hard as I can to return to the ring and continue to do what I love. I have the unbelievable support of my wonderful wife, family, extended family within the WWE, and my loyal fan base. I ask for your continued support! As this situation unravels I will keep you updated!
Just days after announcing he was medically cleared to wrestle, former WWE champ Randy Orton crashed his motorcycle and was injured. His return to the ring is expected to be delayed 3-4 months, which puts him out until at least Survivor Series.
Possibly. They even announced it on RAW last night. Perhaps the WWE were peeved that Orton announced his return at Summerslam on SKY Sports News and as soon as it hit the Net they concocted this story to swerve us.
Dave Meltzer is reporting that Umaga's injury from last weekend was diagnosed as a torn PCL. He doesn't need surgery but will be out 4-6 weeks.
Also, some insiders were saying Hardy (Jeff) had broken his neck. This apparently is unfounded and is actually a busted elbow. He was pulled off TV this week to keep him so he can be at Summerslam tonight..
WWE's John Cena has been dealing with a neck issue for several weeks and was sent by the company for tests prior to the NYC house show this weekend to determine the severity of the injury.
Cena underwent an MRI and a CT scan as he's been having some issues with numbness. At the house shows over the weekend, Cena's scheduled singles bouts with Chris Jericho were turned into tag bouts featuring Cena & Batista vs. Jericho & Kane. In the bouts, Batista carried most of the work for the babyface team, with Cena taking no bumps. Cena did execute a bulldog on Jericho and an FU on Kane, but nothing beyond that physically.
The early word is that Cena will be booked into situations similar to the tag bouts over the weekend to protect himself from physically exerting himself and causing further issues. Cena missed several months last year due to a pectoral tear, returning months ahead of the initial diagnosis at the 2008 Royal Rumble PPV.
They've just announced this on RAW and Cena is out of the Unforgiven PPV.
I'm glad he's not in the WWE because they'd only give him a stupid stereotype gimmick, make him change his style and body shape, making him just another generic WWE wrestler...
