For the last few days I've been looking for something to do, so I figured I'd give anime a shot. As of now, I have only seen Spirited Away, but I thought that it was pretty good. I was wondering where I can watch an anime series, and what would be a good one to start with.
Im sure Mib or Nymvette know a bit more about anime then i do but if you have sky there is an anime channel somewhere, but i tent to usually watch dvds for my anime needs.Firstly i recommend the Ghibili series of anime films which Spirited away is a part of.Theres many great movies such as My Neighbour Totoro,Pom Poko and Princess Mononoke you have to check out, those 3 being my faverates. For Anime Series,a good one to start with would probably be something like Naruto or Bleach,i would say Death Note but its quite a complex series, but it depends what you really.Theres tons out there though so i find it hard to really know when to start on a new anime! But for sure you have to check out more Ghibili films, some of the finest anime in the world comes from that collection.
It really depends on what you like. Anime covers the whole spectrum of genres and themes so simple recommendations aren't always easy to make.
Without wishing to sound like a shameless shill have a look at these columns of mine for a brief introduction of some of the top titles out there in both film and series:
Jetix (SKY Digital 607) show the dubbed version every night at 8.00pm-9.00pm but you can get the 3-disc box sets of the first few seasons for about £10 now!
Look around but usually both. Check out YouTube for samples - there are bound to be some there.
Also, you should be able to get some of the film titles listed in my column for under £10 too like Akira, Ghost In The Shell, Ninja Scroll, Perfect Blue, etc.
