For a company that is supposedly reverting their product back to kiddie friendly territory, their PPV posters are becoming darker and more esoteric with each passing month...
How can a product that is based around violence and crazy angles be kiddie friendly anyway? If i was a parent i certainly wouldnt let my kids watch this stuff until mid teens.Judging from the last few ppvs, its still as violent as it was a few years back, with only the blood being cut back.Anyway i like that poster and i would guess Jeff might be getting another big push in the future.
Because in the US they don't view violence - or wrestling violence - on the same scale that we do over here. All the stuff they cut from UK shows to protect the kids (chair shots, table bumps, weapon shots, blood, etc) are uncensored in the US even during the Saturday morning kiddies slots. Obviously the real extreme stuff like barbed wire, fire, thumbtacks etc. won't air but the "regular"wrestling violence seems to be acceptable in the US.
What they actually consider unsuitable for kids are bad language (even words like ass, bitch, etc), sexual references, suggestive content and the like.
I know - Candice gets the pin in a tag match and suddenly she's the No 1 contender?
I suppose it makes some sense since she was wrestling Beth when the injury first occurred last year and she was due to face off against Beth again in that Playboy tag match at WM 24 this year before getting injured again.
Candice improved remarkably before the injury Totty to the point that she was having competent to solid matches. However she needs more time to get over her ring rust before she is pushed into the title scene.
Unfortunately, with the Mickie James feud played out, Kelly Kelly nowhere near ready and Melina still out injured, Candice is the only fresh opponent for Beth.
HHH Vs. Jeff Hardy in the SD! main event after yesterdays SD! Taping. Also, its worth noting that Vladimir Koslov got involved after the main event of the programme which was fatal 4 way, which Jeff won. Could be a further development before No Mercy?
Metallica is helping the WWE Universe prepare for No Mercy with their new song “All Nightmare Long,” as it will serve as the theme for the Oct. 5 pay-per-view.
The song comes from Death Magnetic, the band’s first album of fresh material in five years. Metallica has already enjoyed enormous success with singles from their latest release, “The Day That Never Comes,” “My Apocalypse,” and “Cyanide.” Death Magnetic becomes available for sale and download on iTunes this Friday
Jbl vs batista and Hardy vs Henry is a big meh..The ladder match sounds intruiging though but saddened that CM Punk is already out of the title picture when he never lost the title fairly in the first place.
Would be pretty good if Rey lost, give Rey a frest start without the mask. The Majority of older fans of his knows what he looks like from his WCW days anyway so its no real biggie if he does lose it.Im just dreading if candice actually goes over Beth,Candie has looked terrible since returning from what iv seen on you tube and injury prone,if she can beat beth in one go while Mickie always had trouble with, then it sucks.
Considering the poor numbers WCW were doing toward the end it is a fair chance that the current WWE audience weren't watching WCW back then so the mystique of the man behind the mask remains. At the moment, it is one of the few things that keeps him unique in WWE; not to mention the huge amount of merchandise they sell based off it.
Also Rey's career suffered a lot when he lost the mask in WCW and it cost him dearly in Mexico where the mask is sacred. He didn't want to lose the mask in the first place but Bischoff persuaded him. Rey publicly bemoaned this as it didn't happen to end a big feud in a mask vs mask match, rather in a throwaway PPV tag match.
Babyfaces really shouldn't lose mask matches anyway but as Kane has no mask on the line, Rey has to win.
a thoroughly uninspiring pay per view. The two noteworthy matches are both spoiled for me as i have to root for Triple H in his match which i hate doing but i dislike the idea of Hardy as champion a lot more so there you go and also the ladder match between HBK and Y2J ..well...i'm probably alone in this but...i really don't like ladder matches anymore. I think having one at mania every year is enough and i think jericho and michaels can do so mch more that tedious ladder related stunt wrestling so why not give them an ironman match or a submission match or best two out three falls to emphasise the wrestling nature of their program? This looks like a rubbish show to me and it isn't helped by booking kane vs myserio and jbl against batista alongside the worthless mark henry and candice michelle. Rant over.
World Title Ladder Match - Chris Jericho (c) vs Shawn Michaels - Y2J will win so he can go on about it for the next few months
WWE Title Match - Triple H (c) vs. Jeff Hardy - I doubt this will happen but i want Hardy as champ. Maybe that big random russian who keeps beating everyone up will interfere and cost HHH the title. Or maybe he'll cost Hardy the title.
ECW Title Match - Matt Hardy (c) vs. Mark Henry - Because I hate Henry
WWE Women's Title Match - Beth Phoenix (c) vs Candice Michelle - Not really that fussed to be honest but i agree with Totoro that it'd be stupid if Candice won
DAVE vs. JBL - To keep him happy and to stop sulking
Big Show vs. The Undertaker - That russian will get involved here too
Rey Mysterio vs. Kane - Because i dont think he'll get unmasked
"That Russian's" name is Vladamir Koslov and he won't get involved in Big Show vs Taker because he has no reason to. He *might* get involved in HHH vs Hardy, although I suspect he'll more likely show up after HHH has won.
my predictions for this diabolical waste of air time are as follows
Beth Phoenix over Candice Michelle (waste of beths time and mine) Dave over JBL (JBL has the worst won lost record for an A lister ever) Hardy over Henry (has to be surely) Mysterio over Kane (not that i or anyone else cares) Triple H over Hardy (again, i can't see how they could put the belt on the human botch reel) Taker over Big Show (again, i am struggling to care) Jericho over Shawn (Jericho needs this one more and there shouldn't be any more world title changes till mania now. A little stability would go a long way i think)
I expect to enjoy HBK and Jericho despite the gimmick and Tripper and Jeff should be alright but everything else reeks of tedium
I haven't been so underwhelmed by a WWE PVV in a fair while. This is why I barely watch anything these days.
World Title Ladder Match - Chris Jericho (c) vs Shawn Michaels
WWE Title Match - Triple H (c) vs. Jeff Hardy (No contest/DQ/Count Out)
ECW Title Match - Matt Hardy (c) vs. Mark Henry
WWE Women's Title Match - Beth Phoenix (c) vs Candice Michelle I Hope not though.
DAVE vs. JBL - This potentially the leader forworst match of the year, all they would need would be Khali and Henry and make it a Fatal 4 Way and voila.
Matt Hardy def Mark Henry - ** Beth Phoenix def Candice Michelle - * 3/4 Rey Mysterio def Kane via DQ - **
MVP, Randy Orton, Priceless & Manu, CM Punk and Kofi Kingston were all involved in a time wasting promo/brawl segment
DAVE def JBL in under 5.00 - 1/2* Big Show def Undertaker via ref stoppage ** 3/4 HHH def Jeff Hardy - **** 1/4 Chris Jericho def Shawn Michaels - **** 1/4
The last two matches saved this from being another nondescript show.
spot on MIB, two stellar matches saved this from being a total waste of time all round. Loved Triple H vs Hardy but saddened that Jeff couldn't manage a side headlock takeover after three attempts, please get the easy stuff right Jeff. Other than that it was the ebst Jeff Hardy singles outing i have seen yet. Oh and quite enjoyed the ladder match despite my protestations earlier about the overused gimmick. Trust HBK to make me eat my words
