They loved it, loved it enough to ask them to rewrite it, and now we hear that the another producer, Leonard Goldberg, wants the story to be set in modern day. Just how different can the script be from the one they bought?

There are various rumours floating about at the moment, one that suggests the Wachowski Brothers are being eyed as directors for Wonder Woman, but Leonard Goldberg puts that rumour to bed with his comments through MTV:

'Im old school. When we have a script to present to directors, well sit down with them and see who has a take that blows us away.'

No directors attached then, but he does address the Wachowski Brothers rumour and explains why it might have come about:

'At one time, Joel [Silver] said they might have an idea. But they got diverted to another project [and] never followed through...There may come a time when they will be focused on Wonder Woman and may come up with whatever their take on it was. Theyre certainly very talented guys. Their vision for movies whether theyre successful or not is always singular.'

So they aren't going to hire directors until they get a script, and that means no Wachowski Brothers on the script right now. What's happening with the script then?

'Were waiting for the script to come in'

Okay, so wait a minute, the story is that actually nothing has happened since last time, and there is no real story that the Wachowski Brothers are directing since the producer is waiting for a script before they chose a director.

As for Wonder Woman, well there is no script. However here's the bit that grabs me and gives me a big shock, Goldberg wants a modern script.

'I can only speak for myself. I would like it to be more current...I hope that we dont finally wind up doing the same story again: Steve Trevor flying, and his plane crashes onto the island [of Themyscira, Wonder Womans matriarchal homeland]. Hes supposed to be executed, and she saves his life. Perhaps well do that in a very abbreviated fashion up front, and then come up with a story that no one has seen yet.'

Something more current is most definitely not the World War II script that they bought from the two writers who displaced Joss Whedon's version.
