Filmstalker with news none of us want to hear:

Previously on Filmstalker I wrote about HBO's West Coast President Michael Lombardo previously said that there was enormous interest in doing a Sex and the City sequel. Now the writer/director Michael Patrick King is talking about it as well, and he sounds like he's very keen.

In fact he reveals that suddenly the story doesn't feel like it's completed, and that's not a surprise considering the box office takings. He even seems to have some ideas for the sequel.

Sex and the City did hugely well, amazingly so since it pretty much decided to cover similar ground, but not really surprisingly since there's such a huge fan base for the series.

Through Hollywood Insider Michael Patrick King says:

"When I finished [the first one], I didnt have a thought in my head about a sequel...It doesnt feel done to me at all. It feels like it generated a whole new burst of enthusiasm for these characters. I thought if I could come up with a really fun, worthy story it would certainly be a great chance to do it again."

Then he goes on to say that if he tipped his head over then the ideas would come pouring out. He even does a little revealing of what could be, and perhaps a release date, even though negotations are still ongoing:

"Its always nice to see the girls in the summer."
So it looks as though we're going to have a second Sex and the City film, whether we like it or not, and I suspect the majority will like it, whatever the story throws at us, perhaps more of the same.

Just what we don't need (Credit - Filmstalker):

It seems like there are going to be plenty more Carrie Bradshaw stories in the pipeline, not only is a film sequel seemingly in the works, well according to the writer of film and series Michael Patrick King and HBO's West Coast President Michael Lombardo, it's in the works.

Now it seems that the future is not the only direction for the main character, and the stories are going to turn to her past, and in particular her teenage years, in Snogging in the School...no I'm kidding, it's called The Carrie Diaries.

Oh you can just guarantee that this is going to be bought up and made into Sex and the City prequels, and no doubt it's going to be dreadful.

According to Yahoo News Candace Bushnell, the writer of the stories of Carrie Bradshaw that became Sex and the City, is writing a pair of teen novels called The Carrie Diaries, and the blurb from her publicist and the publisher makes me shake my head and groan in exasperation, because I can see Hollywood lapping this up and Carrie going back to school.

'...takes readers back to Carrie Bradshaw's formative years in high school, giving an inside look at Carrie's friendships, romances and how she realized her dream of becoming a writer...

Carrie in high school did not follow the crowd she led it. It was there that she began observing and commenting on the social scene.'

I wish I was wrong, I really do, but I can honestly see this being bought by Hollywood and coming to the big screen.

Carrie, the teenage years will just promise more of the same but at a younger age, and I can see parents up in arms about what this is teaching their kids.

What do you think? Sex and the City for teens?
