Fimstalker with some interesting news:

Earlier this year, Louis Leterrier said he saw The Incredible Hulk as a villain in The Avengers. And now the writers of Iron Man have pitched in and agreed.

I'm all for it. One of the few comic books I've read had Hulk as a villain and it worked.

Back in June The Incredible Hulk director, Louis Leterrier, said he thought Hulk would make a good villain for The Avengers film. I remember writing about it back then, but can't find the post for the life of me. Iron Man writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, agree and hope that's how it works out. They spoke to MTV Splashpage:

'I hope The Avengers embraces that. You dont want like 10 super-badass good guys fighting together. Wheres the fun in that? Lets break it off a little. Friends or colleagues who become enemies is always an interesting thing because you know its based on love and friendship and thats always the worst thing to have turn bad is someone you actually care about and someone you actually believe in.'

Sounds like juicy stuff. And Leterrier says that he deliberately left the door open for it:

'I left the door open for whoevers going to direct The Avengers with our last shot. Edward [Norton] and I, we consciously decided to make the last shot of the movie when he opens his eyes and he smirks at the camera. Is he enjoying it? Is he malicious? Thats whats great about Edward. You dont know if hes a good guy or bad guy. Hes always on this edge and weve been sort of surfing that edge, that very thin edge during the entire movie.'

With Tony Stark meeting General Ross in The Incredible Hulk, Fergus says they should keep it going.

'I personally like when good-guy characters have to fight each other. Good guys going against good guys who both believe in an issue is way more interesting than a villain clearly into evil and I like when former friends become committed enemies'

Of the few comic books I've read, one is The Ultimates. Which has The Incredible Hulk as a villain, I liked the dimension it gave it. Not just a cut and dry villain, that everyone knows is plain bad. I'd quite like The Avengers v The Incredible Hulk. What about you, should The Hulk be the bad guy? Or is there someone else you'd rather The Avengers came up against?
