The Latest ECW Show Preview:

Qualified for the extreme
November 7, 2006

On the last ECW on Sci Fi, Paul Heyman rocked the sports-entertainment world when he declared Rob Van Dam's shot at the ECW World Title at December to Dismember will take place in the first-ever Extreme Elimination Chamber Match. This week, Heyman will make yet another startling announcement regarding the final chamber spot on Dec. 3. What would Heyman declare that will effect not just ECW, but all WWE brands?

ECW's "Messiah" will also provide details regarding the main event of Tuesday's edition of ECW on Sci Fi - a program that is already jam-packed with extreme, hardcore action. What more could Heyman bring to ECW fans on Tuesday night?

As ECW fans learned in the latest entry of Punk's Blog, the straight-edge Extremist accepted Mike Knox's challenge to a one-on-one encounter. Not only will pride be on the line when these men face, but the winner will also earn a chance at winning the ECW World Title because the winner will become the fourth Extremist in the Extreme Elimination Chamber.

Yet another spot for December to Dismember's main event will be also filled on the next ECW on Sci Fi, as well, as Test is set to take on ECW Original Tommy Dreamer. The first of four qualifying matches for the other Extreme Elimination Chamber competitors has already taken place and Sabu proved to be victorious over Kevin Thorn on the vampire enthusiast's favorite holiday. Who will qualify this week?

The man who has been slated for an ECW World Title opportunity all along, RVD, had a rough night last week. Heyman was up to monkey business as usual as got the better of Van Dam in RVD's tag team match. How will RVD respond to Heyman's tactics? Following a tremendous display of size, strength and dominance at Cyber Sunday, what will Big Show's next steps be as he continues his reign?

Also on ECW on Sci Fi, Daivari and the Great Khali shook up the ECW roster when they made their presence felt. Will the Punjabi Warrior and his loud-mouthed associate take over their new brand?

Find out the answers to all of these questions and more on ECW on Sci Fi at 10/9 CT.

Looks like we are gonna get a cross promotional Elimination chamber then. Don't you just love the fact that the WWE has so much faith in the ECW brand

I think the new ECW is okay, nothing like the original but I expected that after watching the second 'One Night Stand' PPV.

Apparantly when Monty Brown was signed Heyman campaigned hard to get him on ECW.  I thin he'd have fit in there too.

Last nights results

ECW on Sci Fi Results - 11/28/06
Live From: Buffalo, New York
Commentators: Joey Styles & Tazz
Report By: Adam Martin of WrestleView.com

- The show opens with Paul Heyman in the ring with his security guards. Heyman talks about the Extreme Elimination Chamber this Sunday at December to Dismember. He explains the rules and reveals four weapons that will be involved in the Chamber this Sunday - a steel chair, crowbar, table and a bat covered in barbed wire.

- The ECW opening promo hits. We then get a shot of the crowd as Joey Styles and Tazz reveal the matches on tap tonight: CM Punk vs. Test, Rob Van Dam vs. Sabu and Big Show vs. Bobby Lashley.

- Rob Van Dam defeated Sabu. The finish saw RVD counter out of a tornado DDT attempt by Sabu, slam Sabu down, go up to the top and connect with a Five Star Frog Splash to get the victory.

- The Hardy Boyz defeated Sylvester Terkay & Elijah Burke. The finish saw Burke get tossed to the outside to allow Matt to hit the Twist of Fate on Terkay. Jeff followed that up with a Swanton Bomb and Matt covered Terkay to get the victory. Interesting to see Terkay take the pinfall instead. After the match, MNM hit the ring and attacked The Hardy Boyz.

- CM Punk vs. Test ended in a Double Count Out. The finish saw Punk take out Test with a suicide dive. Both stayed on the outside and the cameras focused on the referee starting the count. Punk jumped on Test in the entrance area in the crowd leading to the double count out finish.

- Backstage, Joey Mercury said MNM would prove their dominance at December to Dismember. Melina added they would prove why they are the best team in the modern era.

- Joey Styles & Tazz rundown the card for December to Dismember this Sunday...and we still only have two matches announced with the Extreme Elimination Chamber for the ECW Championship and The Hardy Boyz vs. MNM.

- Bobby Lashley defeated ECW Champion Big Show via DQ in a Non-Title Match. The finish saw Lashley take out Big Show with a huge Spear, which then saw Paul Heyman call out back-up. Heyman's security guards and Test hit the ring to cause the DQ finish. Big Show, Test and Heyman's security guards all beat down Lashley to end the show.

from wwe.com:

A distraught Paul Heyman was sent home by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon this afternoon at the North Charleston Coliseum hours before an ECW live event.

Distraught by the results of December to Dismember, ECW Representative Paul Heyman appeared to be distant and depressed this afternoon at the North Charleston Coliseum hours before an ECW live event.

This condition was further exasperated by Mr. McMahon, who decided to send Heyman home. The WWE Chairman cited slumping television ratings and a disgruntled talent roster as causes for Mr. Heyman’s dismissal.

From all looks of things, today's dismissal of Paul Heyman by WWE is not part of any storyline, and appears to be legit. According to Dave Scherer, Heyman is the fall guy from last night's terrible December to Dismember pay-per-view. Heyman was well aware that the show would bomb, and spoke up prior to and after the PPV. Following a meeting with Vince and Stephanie McMahon earlier this afternoon, Heyman gathered his things are left the building.

Pretty much covers it. Although it is starting to reek of a work....

I think if they used the ECW name as it was before then Heyman may still have a job.

From Gerweck (where else?)

WWE has announced that Bobby Lashley will face Rob Van Dam and Test in a three way ECW World title match on this week's ECW on Sci Fi episode.

Isn't that there main event at the rumble or mania?

I think what they will do is, it will be another DQ Finish, then Test/RVD will face off and the winner facing Lashley at Rumble(it will be Test).

So Test vs Lashley at Rumble and RVD is in the Rumble Match.

- Sabu arrived late to the ECW/Smackdown television tapings Tuesday night, claiming his luggage had been lost. According to reports, he didn't arrive until 7PM ET. As a result, Sabu was forced to wear Daiviri's tightsDoesn't look like he wants to keep his job does it?.

I dug the hell out of the ECW show until about the end of last year, I think it's just been on a downward spiral.

I mean they had Hardcore Holly turn face then heel again in a matter of weeks, what the hell was the point?

I still dig the Originals, but there isn't much in the New Breed that I dig.

But I'm still one hell of a Sandman, Sabu, RVD, Dreamer and CM Punk mark, so I'll still be watching.

The Nitro era begins
June 26, 2007
ecw.com

The Land of the Extreme was shocked and surprised when late substitute Johnny Nitro defeated CM Punk for the vacant ECW World Title at Vengeance: Night of Champions. Will Nitro - a recent ECW draftee - make his first appearance as champion on ECW on Sci Fi? And who will challenge Nitro first? Will Punk challenge Nitro to a rematch? Tune in to ECW on Sci Fi and find out.

Last week, the New Breeds Elijah Burke and Marcus Cor Von showed that they yearn for the ECW gold. Will they also show Nitro that they are serious about winning the ECW World Title? And could this cause dissension among the New Breed teammates?

ECW has been full of debuts lately. One new ECW Superstar who seems to be already making an impact and causing a potential rift among some smitten members of Extreme Exposé is The Miz. Will he make his debut in the Land of Extreme? And will the ladies of Extreme Exposé patch up their alleged differences?

Meanwhile, no one seems to be having sweet dreams about Boogeyman. The man from The Bottomless Pit has been causing ECW Superstars to toss and turn in their sleep. Who will he come to get next?

You will see all this and more on ECW on Sci Fi every Tuesday at 10/9 CT.

I don't know about you but I can't see Nitro as a credible Champion.  I'm kinda hoping his reign is a short one.  Once again Vince sticks it to the ECW faithful.  Put the Belt on Dreamer even if only for a month.  Could turn the brand around and get thefans intrested again.  just don't put it on Miz....

I assumed that if the Benoit situation wasn't what it was, then Nitro would be a makeshift champ and drop the belt to Benoit. Guess not now.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that WWE will be expanding the ECW roster by calling up some developmental talent.that they can misuse and ruin beofre they even get to one of the bigger programmes.

It also worries me that this is where the NEW Hart Foundation will appear first too.

The New Hart Foundation are scheduled to appear on SD.

I have no problem with new talent being brought up to the ECW show. It was what the show was being going to be used for anyway. Benoit was going to act as the veteran to help the new talent before his death.

It will certainly liven up the show as opposed to the same five or six people wrestling each week.

- Don't believe the CM Punk doghouse rumors. The person that disliked Punk the most has recently been fired -- that person being writer Dave Lagana, who was responsible for Chavo Guerrero's push to the ECW title. Lagana was also the one person pushing for John Morrison to go over on Punk. Dusty Rhodes is a big fan of Punk and Michael Hayes has been trying toget him on Smackdown.

- Michael Hayes has taken on a lot more responsibility as of late andhas become one of the most powerful agents in the WWE. He can always befound at the local hotel's bar or at HQ. Hayes is now on-call 24/7 and has a lot of influence over plans & pushes. In addition, with Lagana out, Ed Koskey is doing the writing on the ECW side, with Rhodes continuing to offer ideas. However, with ECW and Smackdown working together, Hayes will be deciding the main direction of both shows.

Last nights ECW results, does this show get any worse?

-They start with a flashback to a few weeks ago when Guerrero pinned Punk for the title with help from Edge. From there they go to Punks mariachi sneak attack and the Gulf of Mexico match. They end the video package with Punk winning the #1 contenders triple threat match last week.

-After the promo package they roll the usual opening credits.

-They hit play on Morrisons music and he makes his way to the ring for the WWE tag title match.

-Miz gets his own entrance as usual. Joey and Tazz hype Chavo vs. Punk for the title later.

-Dreamer and Delaney make their way out together. Maybe in a few minutes Colin will be able get his own entrance music?

MIZ & MORRISON VS. TOMMY DREAMER & COLIN DELANEY- WWE TAG TITLE MATCH

-Morrison and Dreamer start it off. Morrison gets Dreamer backed into their corner and tags in Miz. Dreamer goes off on both and slams Miz. He tags in Delaney who Tommy slams on The Miz. Delaney goes for a backslide, but Miz slides out and hits a clothesline. He drives some elbows into Colins shoulder then puts on an armbar variation. He gets to his feet, but Miz drives him into the turnbuckle and hits a jawbreaker. Morrison gets a tag and comes off with a springboard spin kick.

-Morrison hits a running boot to Delaney who was down on his knees and he rolls to the apron. Miz gets in a couple cheap shots and Morrison moves in on him. He slips away from John and makes the tag to Tommy. Dreamer hits a back body drop and a catapult sending Morrison into the turnbuckle. He gets him in the tree of woe and Dreamer ends up hitting a neckbreaker from the top. Morrison goes for a kick, but Dreamer catches the leg and works him into a texas cloverleaf. Morrison gets out of it and tags in Miz.

-Morrison quickly tags back in and they hit a double team gutbuster. Miz hits Delaney off the apron. Delaney on the outside grabs a chair and runs in swinging on Morrison and Miz! The ref calls for the bell and their DQd in 5:00.

***Morrison & Miz win by DQ in 5:00. (*).

-After the match Dreamer raises Delaneys hand up, but then has a talk with him. Dreamer doesnt seem to mind that Colin just cost them the chance to win the tag titles. Joey says Colin just snapped and decided he had enough of being pushed around.

-The Gold Standard makes his way to the ring. Joey talks about the MITB match at Mania.

-His opponent is Stevie Richards.

SHELTON BENJAMIN VS. STEVIE RICHARDS

-Stevie hits some chops in the corner and an irish whip that gets reversed. Richards leapfrogs Shelton in the corner and gets caught on his shoulder and Benjamin slams him down. Shelton goes to work on the arm driving his knee into it. He throws some fists for good measure before putting in a hammerlock, figure four style. Shelton gets on his feet and puts his weight over the top of him for leverage. Richards works it enough that Shelton decides to break it, but he goes right back to work. Richards with some fists to the gut that loosens the hold then he drives Benjamin into the turnbuckle. Shelton jumps to the top turnbuckle in a single bound, backwards! He dives off the top and Richards moves.

-Richards hits an enziguiri for 2. Richards goes for a tornado DDT from the top and Benjamin throws him off. Stevie comes running back at Shelton, but he catches him with the inverted bulldog and gets the 3.

***Benjamin ends Stevies undefeated return streak in 5:00. (*1/4).

-After the match Shelton says that at Wrestlemania their aint no stoppin him now.

-26 Days to Mania.

-Joey and Tazz talk about Bunny Mania and that Snoop will be the guest MC for the match.

-They head back to Raw to show us Marias playboy cover.

-Kofi is backstage hitting on Kelly Kelly. He says she could be a Playboy cover model too. She thinks hes sweet. Layla approaches as Kofi leaves. She doesnt appreciate how Kelly tried to disfigure her face last week. The girls end up throwing forearms! Its a pull apart brawl!

-They keep the heat hot as flames arise and Kanes ring bound.

-His opponent is James Curtis who is already in the ring.

-Palumbo comes to ringside. Tazz wonders why hes here. Joey says their scheduled to go one-on-one on Smackdown this Friday.

KANE VS. JAMES CURTIS

-As the match starts Palumbo keeps revving his engine. It doesnt matter to Kane who pounds the crap out of Curtis and hits him with a chokeslam about 30 seconds in that gets the win.

***Kane wins a squash in :30.

-The Raw Rebound greets us after the commercial break. Its the MMA battle between Hill and Big Show. Even in highlight package form they couldnt fix this terrible, awkward segment. Ill give them some credit and say they made it look a little more interesting.

-Tazz thinks Floyds boxing career may be in jeopardy. Joey says Estrada made a tag title match for next week between Delaney/Dreamer and Miz/Morrison. With extreme rules!

-They send it backstage to an interview with CM Punk. What, a backstage interview on ECW? Punk thinks Chavo is scared and hiding behind Vickie. He says he woke Chavo up by throwing him in the Gulf. He says you have to earn being champion and Chavo didnt earn it. Tonight hell earn it for a 2nd time.

-Chavo is on his way out after the break.

-Punk comes out next and its time for the main event.

CHAVO GUERRERO JR. VS. CM PUNK- ECW TITLE MATCH

-Punk gets in a side headlock and Chavo pushes him off. Punk hits a shoulder block and goes for the pin, but gets a 2 count. They now lock up and Punk gets him in the corner. They break it up and Chavo pushes Punk. He comes back with a kick and body slam then drops an elbow for 2. Chavo comes back and rings the arm, but Punk comes back and puts on an arm bar. Chavo gets out of it and bounces off the ropes running at Punk. Punk catches him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker.

-Punk puts in a hammerlock and drives his knee into Chavos back. Chavo slips out and sweeps Punk down and puts in a side headlock. He takes him to the mat and wrenches on it as Punk fights to his feet. He lifts him up for what looked like would be a back suplex, but instead he hits a backbreaker out of it. Chavo comes back with european uppercuts. He gets Punk in the corner and throws some fists, but Punk brings them right back at him. Punk goes for the springboard clothesline and Chavo throws him off the top. Punk falls to the floor landing awkwardly on the apron. They head to commercial 6:00 in with Joey wondering if Punk can continue.

-Back from the break their back in the ring and Chavo is working on that leg. Punk kicks out of the leg hold and then hits a spin wheel kick while selling the leg injury. Chavo hangs the knee over the ropes and pulls on it from the outside. He hops back in and Punk catches him with some chops and a big forearm. Chavo pulls him down and drags him to the corner and goes outside again. He slams his leg into the ring post and gets back inside.

-Chavo kicks at Punks knee and he collapses on the mat. He works on the knee some more and CM Punk chants spread around the arena. Punk hits a headscissors out of the hold and kicks Chavo to the outside. Punk gets off the mat and hits a suicide dive on Chavo! Tazz says thats what the ECW title is all about. Chavo gets back inside and Punk goes up top hitting a clothesline on Chavo, but he cant get to the cover. Both guys back to their feet and Punk now hits a powerslam.

-Punk puts in an armbar and Chavo rolls though and into the ropes. Chavo trying to turn Punk over for a boston crab and Punk rolls him up for a 2 count. Chavo comes back with a series of kicks to Punks leg . Punk comes back and whips Chavo into the ropes and hits the running knee and bulldog combo for a near fall. Chavo comes back with a single legged boston crab and Punks trying to reach the rope. He got it.

-Chavo stalking Punk waiting for him to get up. Punk catches him in position for the GTS, but Punks knee gives out and Chavo goes for 3 amigos. On the 3rd attempt Punk turns it into a small package and gets a close fall! Chavo heads up top and Punk catches him. He hits a couple chops then goes for a superplex. Chavo crotches Punk and pushes him off. Chavo flies off the top and hits the frog splash and gets the win.

***Chavo retains the belt in 16:00. (**1/2).

Overall: The main event saved this show from being awful, and brought it up to mediocre.

I mentioned in my coverage as the show was moving along that I thought that with the way the show was moving Punk was going to win the belt. I edited it for time purposes to those who want to just read a recap, but wanted to mention it again here, because I didn't want to get called out by anyone thinking i'm trying to cover my ass.

It made little sense for Punk to win the belt tonight as I mentioned, but the way the show was moving made it seemed like it could happen, with Mania being Chavos rematch. They were putting what appeared to be a throw away show, which led me to the thought of them banking on Punk winning the belt as the only thing that mattered. Plus they were going to get 15+ minutes, which would seem to lead away from a screw job finish.

Once Punks leg got hurt when he was thrown to the outside though it became clear it wasnt to be. Now Punk has his out and reason for a rematch is how theyll move with it Id imagine. The saga continues.

Im not sure why theyd have Benjamin go over on Richards so soon, but Benji needs the boost and Im guessing thats the reason why. It hurts Richards though who could be a serviceable guy in the title picture. It doesnt make a ton of sense to me. I guess when your roster is thin enough, you only have so many choices. Hopefully this isnt a one time match and the beginning of a feud.

It was relatively obvious that Dreamer & Delaney wouldnt be winning the tag titles tonight so the way they went with it was fine. Now itll be an extreme rules title match next week, which heightens the level of the feuds intensity.

Its a real waste of time to bring the making of a Smackdown feud to ECW. Especially one with Palumbo.

Whose review is that? Must be a real smark because the reviews on WO.com and PWInsider are much more positive - going as far to say that this was the best Punk vs Chavo match so far.

I want Punk to be in the M.I.T.B match this year. I think he's progressed about as much as he can in ECW. They should throw him into the Smackdown mix. Give him a nice U.S title reign then see about having him in the main event picture by this time next year.

Former TNA star Wildcat Chris Harris debuted on ECW last night as Braden Walker. A couple of interesting blunders from the smarks who review the ECW show on F4Wonline:

No 1:

Teddy Long is backstage with Tiffany. Tiffany says she has an idea for next week, but Armando Estrada interrupts. He wants his job back, but first, he has to beat ECW's newest acquisition: Braden Walker. I have no idea who this guy is (he's not on FCW's website), but he looks like the fat love child of Chuck Palumbo and Chris Harris.

Maybe because he is Chris Harris? evileye.gif

No 2:

Backstage, Armando Estrada asked for his job back. I must have dreamt that horrible match between him and Atlas Ortiz last week then. Long gave Estrada another chance to get an ECW contract if he defeated Braden Walker. Walkers first promo on WWE television came in the form of a knock-knock joke. You may know Walker better as TNAs James Storm.

Braden Walker v. Armando Estrada

I do not watch TNA because of the horrible reviews their product gets, so this is my first chance to ever see Storm/Walker wrestle. Hes reputed to be pretty good in spite of whatever absurd booking obstacles he had to overcome in TNA.

Keep up the good work fellas.... evileye.gif
