There's a whole world of cool music out there this year now post yours (As specially you Mattitude I wanna hear about the Thunder gig)
Thunder was truly awesome, it probably helped by the fact I was in there as press and got in to the press photography area down the front y'know where the Security are so I had the perfect view. The still rock, although Danny dances like your dad at a wedding...

I saw Skindred at the Carling Academy 2 Last night.
My Review? This band were complete wank, Imagine Bob Marley crossed with Limp Bizkit even that can't describe the weirdness of this band. They play Drop tuned simple riffs with Rapping and reggae noises (Kinda like P.O.D but at least Sonny Sandoval does it justice) Basically it sounds like stoned black men trying to be metal lol.
With a poor undercard (the highlight of the night was a weird Trance Rock instrumental band) I'm Glad I was given the ticket as a gift because I would have demanded my money back.
Well I saw Dragonforce Tuesday...... OH MY GOD!!! it was the BEST-GIG-EVER
it kicked off with Firewind, Power Metal from Greece. I personally went weak at the knees for this band Gus G was on fire! I almost caught a guitar pick but was litterally rugby tackled out of the way lol. a cracking set they played some of the best songs in their arsenal. I am the Anger made me scream like a 13 year old girl lol. Better than all that I'm at the bar and who do I see? none other than Gus G himself. I tried to speak to him but I was dumbfounded. I shook his hand and got a picture with him and I (He must have thought I was slow all I could get out was "Dude you're Gus G, I ****ing Love you man!!" my friends thought I was on drugs lol) Shortly after this I was getting a beer and saw 2 members of Dragonforce Sam Totman and vladimir (The Keyboardist) I asked for a pic and Sam Told me to **** off but Vlad was Happy to whore himself out lol.
I missed "All That Remains" because I'm not a big fan (plus I was trying to pull this bird at the bar..... lol
Dragonforce, Smoke filled the stage and a countdown clock appeared with "3.00" on it. Suddenly Slayer "Raining Blood" played over the tannoy and the Croud were almost deafining with their chants "DRAG-ON-FORCE!!! DRA-GO-FORCE!!!!" the countdown stopped at one and suddenly WHAM the opening bars of "Through the Fire and The Flames" They played for between 90 and 120 minutes. playing most of their best songs.
it was an epic gig, my Rating 9/10 (My neck still hurts and I'm wearing a tubigrip on my elbow, it was intence)
I saw Soil last night, They wern't bad. I missed most of the precard (because we were too busy drinking in the pub next door). We caught the last 2 songs of Brand New Sin's set, They wern't bad, Nothing special, generic Metalcore, it surved it's purpous to whet the crowd's appitite for soil.
Soil were good, The band were into it, The Crowd were into it. The Bierkeller is always an easy Crowd to please for established bands. They played the whole new album "True Self" Played the new single much to the crowd's delight. The Pit was pretty quiet, but it was still a good vibe, we were right at the front, the band were interacting well with the audience. Everyone was there for one song though. (Me included, I paid £11 to hear "Halo" if I'm honest). Halo came on and the Audience erupted, there was a huge mosh pit like 5 or 6 shoes got thrown into the air. For 3 minutes 36 the place turned ****ing Crazy lol.
After the Gig 3 members of soil (The 2 Guitarists and The Lead singer) came out to sign autographs so I got my ticket signed, then outside the lead singer of the support band tried to hit on my female friend. So I took the opportunity to take the piss (I had to it was just too funny) so after ripping the **** out of him we went home. It was a Quality Gig Symphony's rating :- 7/10 Good gig but I've seen better
Went and saw Switchfoot and Verra Cruz last night at Sheperds Bush Empire. I have never seen such a dead crowd. The bands were excellent but the crowd were naff.
Metallica are playing Wembley Stadium. It is going to be announced Sunday evening/Monday morning and tickets will be available mainly through livenation.
I have no idea about support, but the message on metallica.com is an announcement to be made tonight. Most people are led to believe this is the Sunday 8th July Wembley Stadium gig. I expect someone like Trivium or Bullet for my Valentine will be in support. They seem to like them.
sorry to double post, but as i broke the news i htought i should give you all the confirmation!
W IS FOR LONDON 3/19/2007 [ back ]
OK OK, it's actually Wembley Stadium on July 8th, but they both have a letter 'L' and they're both in London so there you have it - the rumors are true!!! This is the newly rebuilt Wembley Stadium we're talking about, freshly delivered in time for us to test it's barely dry foundations with a little live 'Tallica...remember, we've only played the stadium once before, at the Freddie Mercury benefit gig back in Spring of '92, so to play it now as headliners, especially the brand spankin' new one, is very, very cool... we'll also be bringing a few of our friends along to add to the festivities ...and between you and us, there's still another fun time or two on our European escape to announce...and as ever, when they get OFFICIALLY confirmed, you'll see them posted here...until then...
The last gig I went to was the Get Happy Tour which was stopped in Glasgow on 12 Feb. The bands on it were Army of Freshmen (I LOVE THEM!), Wheatus, Son of Dork and Bowling For Soup (who headlined). Oh it was fabulous. Son of Dork were dire live. I like them on their singles and albums. Just not live. If I see them again live, it'll be too soon. Wheatus I can take or leave. I was never big on them. Bowling For Soup have really grown on me. I liked a couple of their songs but they're awesome live and their new album's great. Army of Freshmen. These guys I LOVE! They're the only reason I went to the Get Happy Tour in the first place. They're fab. If you like bands like Bowling For Soup then I imagine you'll like AOF as well.
Next gigs:
02/04/07 - Kelly Jones at the Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow 15/05/07 - Good To Go Tour (Wheatus, MC Lars, ARMY OF FRESHMEN and Punchline) at The eXchange, Edinburgh.
If anyone's thinking of going to Infest, you're in luck, Apoptygma Berzerk are making their UK debut there. It's up in Bradford, so i'm ****ed for it, but still.
I hate arranging trips to gigs, I have 6 tickets to DT in Newcastle with 2 already researved for myself and another and I have 5 people wanting to go and it's basically sold out and I can't find another to go and I can't just say one of them isn't going.
Genesis tickets are sold out, I can't afford the £100+to go, but its probably the only time I'll ever get to see them.
Steve Vai tickets go on sale soon, I really want to get the package deal, can't afford it either.
Can't afford Rush if they come later on in the year/early next year.
Can't get a job, can't earn money, nothing to sell.

Went to Hyde Park Yesterday for Aerosmith and Chris Cornell. Superb my entire body aches..
The Answer rocked too, Jet were crap and the only disappiontment was not geting to see Joe Satriani on the second stage as we wereat the front of the main stage and wouldn't have been able to reclaimt he space....
Well if this is for gloating... IRON MAIDEN + AVENGED SEVENFOLD + TWICKENHAM = SWEEEEET! Be warned, I will not shut up about this for the next week....
I am also going to be at Twickenham for that gig. I am also off there this weekend because my gf is dragging me kicking and screaming, to see I am ashamed to admit Bon Jovi.
I have to say they WERE a great live act, now they are al;most a parody of themselves, all the rump shaking for the girls in the audience and the same set list just with the new songs added. Used to be a fan, not anymore.
I only have one gig to goto this year and thats the almighty Alter Bridge at Brixton in November. Can't wait!!!
