I actually imagined it might have been a lenthier film but 100 mins isnt so bad.On the back of the dvd of it, it says a running lenth of 140 mins, either its a mistake or the extras are added together with it,since its a foreign import dvd of the film.I just havent the patience to watch any long movies these days :(.
Just checked my R2 DVD and it's 1hr 50 minutes with 34 minutes of extras = 2hr 24 minutes in total. I assume that is where your 140 minutes comes from.
most probably ;).Looking forward to going over there in a month now, going to scour the bargain shops to pick up some good bargain asian films.I got a 2 disc, boxed set edition of the returner for only 5 pounds before, a tin 3 disc set of Cashern for 7 pounds and other Korean, Japanese films ect all for a superb price and most of them almost impossible to get in this country.
BBC1 has Jet Li's Fist Of Legend on Saturday night (sadly dubbed but still an excellent Martial arts film) while Ch 4 are showing Battle Royale again on Monday night.
The often violent but intelligent Hong Kong film One Nite In Mongkok airs on Film 4 on Sunday night at 1.30am. It stars Daniel Wu and Edison Chen's bang buddy Cecelia Cheung back when she was hot.
Also when scouring the Asian DVD import sites, be on the look out for this just released DVD of the Korean comedy Miss Gold Digger:
Actress Han Ye-seul offers advice on how to "shop" for men in her screen debut. In her polygamous romantic relationships, she adopts different personas for each boyfriend, from being a prim and proper lady for her JFK-like boyfriend to a sexy party girl for a young rapper. But when her shopping spree starts to get tangled, the men show their true side when they discover that they have been manipulated.
And from Japan from a few years ago Kamikaze Girls:
Momoko (pop idol Kyoko Fukada) yearns to live in 18-century Versailles than in her back-country hometown of Shimotsuma, heartland of the yakuza. To escape, she loses herself in the dreamy, doll-like fashions of the "Lolita scene. Her idol is Akinori Isobe, chief designer of Baby, the Stars Shine Brighther favorite Lolita design hose. She travels all the way to Tokyo to shop at their store.
One languid summer, to help fund her expensive hobby, Momoko runs a classified ad of brand-name knock-off clothes (produced by her dad) for sale. She encounters a buyer named Ichiko (the real name is Ichigo), who happens to live in her neighborhood.
Super-rebel Ichiko (model and J-rock icon Anna Tsuchiya), is a Yankee-style member of the Ponytails motorbike gang, one of Ibaraki's "Wild speed tribes, whose teeth-rattling customized bikes are decked out with fiberglass shields and bannered backrests.
Somewhat against Momokos will, she and Ichigo slowly develop a strong friendship as they share their feelings on the odd goings-ons around them.
