The Daleks will be back. Remember, the show is based around travelling through time and dimensions, so the Doctor just has to land in another period of time and in another dimension where the Daleks happen to be. Sorted!
As for new adversaries, they've brought the Slitheen back a couple of times and they've appeared in the Sarah Jane Adventures too. Not really scary but they are established nonetheless.I'm sure in time they'll be able to come up with a new monster to stand alongside the classics.
Thousands of fans apparently tried to call Doctor Who after his number was shown on the screen during the season finale of the hit show.
Reports suggest that some 2,500 fans tried to phone the Time Lord after his personal number was dialled on screen.
The digits 07700 900461 were shown as mankind attempted to contact the Doctor to scupper the invasion plans of Dalek leader Davros.
According to the Daily Mail, more than 2,500 people tried the number before TV industry watchdog Ofcom revealed it to be a fake.
One disappointed fan wrote on a message board: "Grrr - I phoned the Doctor's phone number but there was just an annoying network message. What's the point in showing a phone number if you're not gonna use it?!"
The BBC confirmed the number was not real and is one of a range reserved by Ofcom for the purposes of television.
The broadcaster said: "The BBC complied with Ofcom who supplied the programme with a safe number which was inactive and reserved specifically for the use of TV programmes."
Ofcom confirmed that they regularly give non-active numbers to production companies for use in film and television programmes
You really have to question the sanity of some people, trying to call a number of a fictious character is pretty dumb ^-^.
Sometimes curiosity does the better of you. I'm sure the question of whether that was a genuine number crossed your mind as much as it did everyone's else, eh Totty?
And loads of TV shows and films set up websites or answering machines for when addresses or phone numbers of popular characters are displayed on screen for that eventuality. It's all good publicity and no doubt they make a few quid in the process.
At this point I would point you towards the Dark Knight campaign, they have used this tactic, with the phone numbers haveing answer messages and anyone leaving details not only ends up on a mailing list but so far has been in reciept of some very collectable items such as Gotham Times, Batman key Rings, Joker playing cards. All part of the experience.
The BBC must have known that people would ring the number so why not have a recorded message from the good Doctor sayin Im in another Dimension now but for my latest updates goto www.... or buy the latest Doctor Who adventures magazine and here is a discount code for subscription.
new assistant could be - river song for the library episodes as they have already alluded to it,
but you know the beb they will keep it dark right up until they start filming then it will leak.
I don't think it will be, because when she saw him she said he looked so young. Which to me signifies that shes for a later regenerated Doctor. I think they should go for Miranda Raison who plays Jo in Spooks. She would be agreat fit for the show. How about having a second companion too. It's about time.
I think they should get the doctors "daughter" to be his side-kick. Especially if there is only going to be a few episodes next year, they could use her as a temporary assistant until a full season starts again.

David Tennant plays the Danish prince in Shakespeare's' Hamlet
Doctor Who and Star Trek fans have been banned from having sci-fi merchandise signed by David Tennant and Patrick Stewart while they star in Hamlet.
The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) says only programmes and other Hamlet merchandise can be autographed at the stage door.
Tennant and Stewart are starring in the RSC production at the Courtyard Theatre, in Stratford.
The first preview begins later, and the play opens on 5 August.
Hamlet director, Gregory Doran, recently said fans arrive at the stage door with "bags" of Doctor Who merchandise for Tennant to autograph.
Disappointment
In a statement, the RSC said the level of interest in Tennant and Stewart meant "limits" had to be imposed.
Patrick Stewart has two roles in the production
"Due to the huge amount of interest in the RSC's current production of Hamlet, only Royal Shakespeare Company or production related memorabilia will be signed by members of the company," the RSC said.
"It is very flattering that there is so much interest in this production, but the sheer volume of requests means that we need to set some limits which will be as fair as possible for everyone.
"We apologise if this causes any disappointment."
Signs outlining the no autographs policy have reportedly been erected in the window at the stage door.
Tennant's performance in Hamlet has been hotly anticipated, with tickets exchanging hands on the internet auction site eBay for up to £215 each.
David Tennant talked to Andrew Marr in June about his new role as Hamlet
The 37-year-old Scottish actor, who takes on the lead role of Hamlet, made his debut as the Time Lord in Doctor Who in 2005.
His previous RSC credits include Antipholus of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors.
Stewart is best known for playing Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek, but has a string of critically acclaimed stage performances to his name.
He plays two roles in the RSC production of Hamlet - Claudius and the Ghost.
Oh and by the way I have read that David Tennant is about to put pen to paper for in the region of 1.5 mill to sign on for season 4 of Dr.Who and possibly beyond.
Not quite braxious but a couple of long ones nonetheless:
An Unearthly Child (4) The Rescue (2) The Romans (4) The War Machines (4) The Tenth Planet (4) The Daleks (7) The Aztecs (4) The Dalek Invasion Of Earth (6) The Web Planet (6) The Chase (6)
[ anorak mode ] The longest ever was Trial Of A Time Lord which was 14 episodes (although technically it was 4 stories broken down into one overall story-arc) followed by The Dalek Masterplan which was 12.then The War games with 10 and The Invasion with 8 (the only one with that number of episodes. [ /anorak mode ]
I know that a lot of the 60's episodes are missing but I was referring to the complete stories and thus they are included in the numbers I posted.
Out of the Hartnell stories I shall be watching, only the Tenth Planet has one episode missing (ep 4) but on this video release they've recreated it with the rediscovered audio and stills from the archives from that episode.
