Gotta love dreamworks films, and here is another example of what im hoping will be a good family movie. Its good they got Jack Black to play Po, and it seems to be quite a top cast overall. We will see when it comes out then how it pans out in the cinemas
Kung Fu Panda is a film about a panda who learns martial arts and then uses this new ability to fight his enemies. LMAO...this is gonna be great. It has to be up there with The Pick of Destiny, Snakes on a Plane, and Harold and Kumar as far as stoner films go. That being said, I probably won't like it. ;)

Stoner films are better described as dude comedies. Cheech & Chong are the purveyors of this genre. Iwouldn't put SoaP in the category but Pick of Destiny, Harold & Kumar, Dude, wheres my car? Jay & Silent Bob Strike back etc.
Basically the central characters spend most of the movie getting high or being stoned.
I think he means the movies are only watchable when stoned, Since i dont smoke the weed, i have drunk movies for the same reason, they are wayyyyyyyy better when drunk :)
Basically, a stoner movie is one that people either watch while stoned (Pick of Destiny, Kung Fu Panda) or one where the main characters smoke pot throughout (Cheech and Chong, Harold and Kumar).

I still don't see why a cartoon about a panda learning Kung Fu requires the viewer to be in a state of altered consciousness? It's just a kids cartoon!
From Cannes. The film is finally about to land.....
PANDA-MONIUM SWEEPS CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2008, WITH JACK BLACK KICK-OFF ON BEHALF OF DREAMWORKS ANIMATION'S "KUNG FU PANDA"

Black and the other "kung fu pandas" posed for a barrage of photojournalists and camera crews, signaling that the celebrity- and film-fueled glitter of the 2008 Festival had officially begun.

Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, Po (Golden Globe nominee Jack Black) is the biggest fan of kung fu around...which doesn't exactly come in handy while working every day in his family's noodle shop. When he's unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po's dreams become reality and he joins the world of kung fu to study alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five: Tigress (Academy Award® winner Angelina Jolie); Crane (Emmy winner David Cross); Mantis (Emmy nominee Seth Rogen); Viper (Emmy/SAG nominee Lucy Liu); and Monkey (international superstar Jackie Chan) under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu (two-time Oscar® winner Dustin Hoffman). But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung (Emmy/Golden Globe winner Ian McShane) is headed their way, and it's up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a kung fu master into reality? Po puts his heart into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths. The film opens nationwide in the US on June 6, 2008.

Kung Fu Panda has kicked Sex and the City from the top spot of the US box office, early figures have shown.
The animated film about Po, a panda who becomes a kung-fu master to save his jungle from leopard villains, took $60m (£30.4m) in its opening weekend.
Adam Sandler's comedy You Don't Mess With the Zohan opened in second place with $40m (£20.3m), while Indiana Jones's latest outing was in third.
Sex and the City slipped to the fourth spot in its second weekend in cinemas.
It took receipts of $21.3m (£10.8m) - a steep 63% decline from its $56.8m (£28.8m) debut weekend - bringing a total of $99.3m (£50.3m) after only 10 days.
Recent strong showings have helped Hollywood to chip away at its box office deficit compared with 2007, which was a record year for revenues.
"This month offers the marketplace the opportunity to catch up with last year," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers.
"Last year's June was not as strong as expected and this year's may be stronger, so we're definitely narrowing the gap in terms of revenue and attendance."
Horror film The Strangers took $9.3m (£4.7m), followed by Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr, which took another $7.5m (£3.8m) for a total of £289m (£146.4m).
Rounding out the top 10 were Narnia: Prince Caspian with $5.5m (£2.8m), rom-com What Happens in Las Vegas with $3.4m (£1.72m), Baby Mama with $0.78m (£0.4m) and Made of Honor $0.775 (£0.39m).

Well, finally got to a screening of the Panda today (Review online later) and attended the press conference.

I plan on geting fucking smashed then watching this.
Sounds a bit counterproductive to me. Perhaps you should try it the other way around - you know watch the film first while you still have some active brain cells to comprehend it then continue your campaign to ruin your liver afterwards?
Anyway, my sister and brother-in-law took my 5 year-old nephew to see this on Saturday and they enjoyed it. My nephew now thinks he is a Kung-Fu expert!
