Like a lot of Japanese words, Karaoke is a composite of two words.
"Kara" means "empty" and "oke" is short for the Japanese word for Orchestra "okesutora". The literal translation is "virtual orchestra" seeing as karaoke is to sing along to a pre-recorded backing track and not a live band or orchestra.
Number 3, really... I thought you might pick a different one.
Another Movie question and should be difficult to google
Eddie Murphy will always be remembered for Axel Foley from the Beverly Hills Cop movies, but which famous actor was originally signed up to play the role?
Correct. Bela Lugosi turned the role down because he didn't like the idea of his face being hidden by the make up. Ironically he donned the bolts and flat top for Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman in 1943.
Okay, who took over the role of the vampire from Bela Lugosi - who died during filming - in the all time "Worst Movie Ever" classic Plan Nine From Outer Space?
Hmmm...maybe it was a bit tricky. I figured the real film buffs here might have known this.
The answer is director Ed Wood's wife's chiropractor Tom Mason who doubled for Lugosi, despite being 30 years younger, a few inches taller and having lighter hair. His face was covered with his cape but it was blantantly obvious it was a different man.
Okay, an easier question:
Which actress pulled out the film Boxing Helena at the last minute to be replaced by Sherilyn Fenn?
