I hope i get my joshi dvds by tomorrow, i really want to watch Hyoga vs Tamura before i leave! Going to pick quite a bit of Joshi mechandise on my trip so hopefully i can get somethings different from the usual dvds and magazines.Hopefully ill find a show in the next week or so and go there ^^.

Eagle Sawaii is a legend,but im glad finally shes giving it up.She wrestled on the superladies Showdown card for LPWA in 1992 so is somewhat famous.Shes a good wrestler,very underrated when you talk about a lot of Joshi legends,not so famous as many but will be missed,mind you shes been past her best a loooong time now.

I have every one of those matches on dvd and i love every one of them.Toyota was easily in the top 5 wrestlers in the world during her prime years,a wonderful talent.

Watched a neo show recently in tokyo and it was great, i enjoyed myself higley and seeing some of my faves up so close is a real joy.I cant remember the card because im terrible with some of the names, but i saw yoskio tamura, tanny and of course my fave yuki miyazaki! Got to meet a couple in the back after the show to, bought some magazines and dvds and shook their hand with yuki and yoshiko giving me beautiful smiles! They were sooooo cute..going to see them again and a noah show in future. Will download pics when im back in the uk, cant do it from here sadly.

Two early Meiko Satomura matches from WCW circa 1997 in one You Tube clip.

The first match is from WCW Pro Wrestling and is Meiko vs Malia Hosaka and the second is from Nitro and is meiko vs Toshie Uematsu.

It is really weird watching Meiko as a young smiley happy go lucky girl instead of the serious ass kicker we all know and love.

And this is the infamous dropkick to Saika Takeuhci from the GAEA Girls film

Sadly i cant afford to go to a Noah show so im sticking with my joshi. There is a big show from neo in a far away place i hope to see which is a summer show, cant wait,hopefully yuki and yoshiko remember me, ah..i love them! Saw quite a funny commercial today with Misawa and Taue and i think marafuji all dressed in Young guys clothes, and something upset misawa and animated anime crying was added to him pretending to cry over something,funny! I never imagine Misawa being funny, he always seems so serious!

Nice clips there but i have every Womens match from WCW in the 1997 period when Gaea Invaded, sadly the match with meiko and Toshie was quite short but it was fun, meiko always played the cute, adoreable face when she wrestlred there, but this was the only time toshie was a face as well.Sanoko Kato, Akira hokuto, Karou, Sugar Sato and Malia hosaka all competed for the ill fated WCW womens cruiserweight title at that time.There was some good matches with the girls on WCW Worldwide mainly, some tag matches, usually karou and Hokuto were the heels and often destroyed a young Meiko and Kato.

Hiroka i met at a joshi show and she is lovely! She wrestles usually for CMLL in mexico but has wrestled in japan recently. Im a big fan of hers and enjoy her work so it was nice to get to meet her.Im really looking forward to the last joshi show on the 8th ill be seeing!
How is the womens division in the WWE going by the way guys? I dont bother checking WWE news anymore because for the first time in my life,iv actually given up on the product (iv been a wwe fan for over 16 years!)

What about this news?

Michiko Ohmukai announced she will retire on Dec. 9. She will marry a musician named Mr. M the day before her retirement. She says he's the first man she's ever loved more than wrestling. Ohmukai had her 15th anniversary show last January. There were rumours of her retirement a couple of years ago. Ohmukai trained in LLPW but is probably best remembered for her days in ARSION. In recent years she almost seemed like she was sleepwalking through matches but she was a very good performer in her better days.

I don't know who Mr.M is but I hate him!

Im sure your going to enjoy that Big Egg universe show Mib, great great wrestling event.Thanks for the info on the WWEs women to, nice to hear Beth is doing well! Hopefully shell get a run with the title in the near future.Iv read about Michiko Ohmukai and indeed very sad news, but as long as noone takes my Yuki Miyazaki, yoshiko tamura or Kyoko Kimura away then i dont mind ^^! Great talent and will be missed in joshi of course.

Sorry to double post, just recieved 25 dvds of various joshi shows from Neo, Oz, Ibuki, Sendai, JWP ect ect. Watched the brilliant Azumi Hyoga vs Yoshiko Tamura match up, excellent stuff and both the girls put their all into this match.Also watched Kyoko Kimura in a Big Japan tag match which was quite funny and a Yuki Miyazaki vs Chikayo Nagashima match (Nagashima putting my girl away with her double stomp from the top rope, BOOOO!). Have a few pics to post when im bothered but im utterly depressed and tired to do anything like that right now, i hugged Yuki!! I Love her...Im going to ask her to marry me next year hehe..maybe! The girls are so friendly and lovely,you wouldnt think that but man id love to be married to one of them!

Haruka Matsuo is a babe, saw her in action, a real beaut.Seen so much joshi that i dont need to watch but nice finds anyway Mib! Yuki is a comedy wrestler really these days with her tag partner Tanny mouse, known as the Neo Machine Gunz, very funny, cute and talented in ring wrestler she is,she actually doesnt lose often and won a triple threat match featuring Toshiee Ueematsu and another girl who i cant remember so she seems to do alright in singles competition.She loves playing around and its why i love her, she has an adoreable look,very huggable and pretty girl,has a mean streak when she needs it,can wrestle well, and is utterly cute,man i am in love with her!
But yep shes pretty cool.Watched some recent JD and it was awful,so that promotion i cant really watch much of now.

Sorry to double post, just watched a good joshi show wrestle expo 2006 i think and it featured several decent matches,one being Kyoko Kimura vs Mischif,surprised that Mischif Pinned Kimura so easily and soon though! Im currently watching all my Yuki Miyazaki matches,shes soooooo cute (just look at her in my sig!! She seems to hardly job out,only to the bigger names so she is a pretty decent worker.

Bought the Ladys Gong Magazine and dvd show, good fun, and i love the spreads in the middle,
this months was every joshi girls auotgraphs and at the end of the magazine it always has a few of the girls sharing a smile which is adoreable!

Damn, id love to have seen that show..Never mind though as i saw a couple of neo shows before including the summer bash show in august which was cool.I love the Machine guns team with yuki and Tanny! Ah...i love them and hope they won that match! Neo is a good promotion i think, a lot of joshi fans i talk to often criticize it for a lot of its comedy matches but they are a very fun promotion to watch which produces lots of good stuff.Hopefully itll be around for a while yet!

Been watching a couple of classi Jd shows from 1997, and an excellent ladies 6 woman battle royal.None of the girls in it actually made it in Joshi as none of them are names we know or hear about now but they were pretty impressive in the match.Im going to go through some of my collection and review some stuff on here when i have time ^^.Also i still want to post the pics as mentioned but my pc is completey ballsed up right now so i cant yet, hopefully my family will get a new laptop soon ^-^.

We've been discussing on SSS that it was recently the 10th anniversary of Plum Mariko's tragic passing.

The Tragic Death of Plum Mariko

It was well known that the weekend of August 15th-17th would be a sad one for womens wrestling fans, as one of the most promising young stars, JWPs Candy Okutsu, was retiring way before her time due to a bad back. However, the weekend turned into a catastrophe when long-time JWP star Plum Mariko tragically died after her match on the 15th. Plum, real name Mariko Umeda, teamed with Bolshoi Kid against Mayumi Ozaki & Rieko Amano at Hiroshima Sun Plaza. Ozaki used one of her regular spots, the Ligerbomb, to pin Plum. The move was not blown, rather it was executed no differently than normal, but it appears that have triggered a pre-existing problem, an abscess on Marikos brain. Since other wrestlers had faked not being able to get up after the finish (sold the finish) that night, the fans in the arena didnt immediately realize there was a problem. It seems that this spot may not have been the planned finish of the match. In any case, Plum was knocked out from the Ligerbomb and didnt kick out. After the match, Ozaki and the other wrestlers saw Plum, who still hadn't budged, snoring, which is a sign that her brain was bleeding.

Plum, who went into a coma that she would never come out of after the Ligerbomb, was rushed to a local hospital. The doctors urgently performed brain surgery, but sadly it was to no avail. Plum, just 29-years-old, was pronounced dead on the 16th at 5:30 JST. The death makes Plum the first fatality stemming from a professional wrestling match in Japan. The cause of her death was brain damage. Doctors believe that the abscess on Plums brain, a condition they are fairly certain she went into the ring on the 15th with, was caused by taking bumps and blows to the head during her matches. This has lead to a lot of thought about the toll the advances in wrestling in the 1990's, mainly the increased amount of high spots and dangerous moves being performed on a nightly basis, is taking on the performers.

Doctors believe it was a cumulative group of injuries, resulting in brain trauma, rather than the singular injury on the 15th that caused Plums untimely death. The significance of that belief is Plums accidental death most likely could have been prevented if she had been examined by a doctor, as a doctor probably wouldnt have allowed Plum to wrestle in this condition.

Very Sad, i have plenty of dvds with her matches and she was a really talented wrestler with a long career ahead of her.I believe one of the shows i have is a tribute show to her with matches and a video package with the girls she worked with around the ring in tribute to her.Its so sad.
Also another josh girl passed on 10 years agao next year from the Arsion promotion (sadly i forger her name now),she only had 2 years of wrestling under her belt and only a couple of matches,she was only 19 or 20..i think,but she also died from a brain injury to...Its remarkable how tough these girls really are and i really admire each and everyone of them.

Cheers Mib ^^.Well Last night i watched a good show from 1998,NEO 7 Choclates.The opener was Chikako Shiatori vs Sayo Endo.A nice fast paced bout until a bucket load of interference ruined it,by i believe a group of JWP girls! Second match Yuki Shiina vs Tomoko Kozomi was a more slow,submision match,nice match, with Tomoko pinning shiina with a superplex.Tanny mouse and Kanako Motoya had a forgettable match (tanny looking exactly the same as she does now,a little chubbier but still cute!) while Genki Masae and Tomoko Miyaguchi (who i believe is ran Yu Yu) had a nice power match up.

The real disapointment was the 6th match on the card, Jaguar Yokoto vs
Chappirita Asari, Asari was a good wrestler but far relied on her acrobatic stuff and she hardly did any of that in this one, it ended far to soon at the 13 minute mark to.Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita took on

Chapparita Asari,Genki Misae,Yuka Shiina & Tanny Mouse in the second to last match,elimanation match up which featured a bit of comedy and some brutal beatings by shimoda and Mita,the pair elimated everyone with no real trouble other then with genki who they destroyedbruttally at the end with pilde driving her through a table, a couple of chair shots and some double teams.Kyoko Inoue and Hikari Fukuoka was the main event, quite exciting, Kyoko dominated through the match but surprisingly Hikari scored the win with a fantastic move.
A pretty good show this and if you can pick it up on the cheap, i would recommend.Ill also post more photos when i can be bothered hehe ^_^.

another day another Joshi Show ^-^, J'D Classic from 1997 this time.A decent couple of opening matches followed by a superb tag match between mexican girls the Morenos vs Jaguar Yokota (who is fast becoming my faverate Joshi girl of all time) and a young Rookie.Naturally the rookie gets pinned in this one but she puts up a brave fight while Jaguar snarls and growls and hardly does to much in this.Main event of the show was the beautiful Chikako Shiotori vs Jaguar and Jaguar defeated her with a tombstone.Great match.Trying to get through a lot of my older stuff
before i move onto newer dvds i have :).

And Krissy Vaine who debuted on SD the other week has quit WWE already. She is in a relationship with Ryan O'Reilly (who was about to be drafted to RAW) and they feared being apart so they both asked for their releases.

Thats a bit surprising, i know Krissy Veines work and obviously she would have been a good asset for the womens division but its actually nice that her and Ryan care more about their relationship then for working for WWE. Good for them. Im looking forward to the TNA division coming up soon and with Amazing Kong signing for the company,that can only be a good thing (unless she is saddled with some stupid gimmick which Russo may do).

Dan Lovranski (LAW Co-host): Alright, now I want to bring on another special guest to the program. Youve seen her, of course, in the WWF before, youve seen her in TNA for quite a while now, and if you watched the TNAs Bound For Glory Pay-Per-View tonight, you saw her in action. She is TNAs first Knockout Womens Champion - its always a pleasure to have this lady on the program, Ms. Gail Kim. Gail, how are you doing?

Gail Kim: Im so happy (Laughs). You just caught me at the perfect moment, Im still on Cloud Nine.

Lovranski: Youre celebrating quite heavily, are you?

Kim: Well, Im actually stuck in traffic to be honest. Im on my way back from the building, the arena, right now to head back to the hotel room. Were gonna celebrate, yes.

Lovranski: Okay, well, thats good. Well, yeah, hopefully, well do the quick interview here, get you to the hotel, and then you guys can party on down.

Kim: Okay (Laughs).

Lovranski: When did they first decide, Gail, to kind of do a serious womens division? Because really, its been, you know, kind of hit and miss right? Youre in there, Tracis in there, but not really a womens division. When did they decide to do this? Was this just recently?

Kim: It was well, to be honest, when I started with the company, and they called me to offer me a contract, they said, We want to build a womens divison, but its not going to happen overnight. And, I said, Okay. And, kind of a year had passed, a year and a half passed, and I said, Guys, I want to wrestle. Thats what I love to do. I want to wrestle. We can make a serious womens division, but the time restraints, you know, an hour show, forty-three minutes of programming - so that means, you know, only a handful of girls. You cant really build a division on four girls.

Lovranski: Right, right.

Kim: So, then, they told me wait for two hours, and we were so patient. Two hours came, and they fulfilled their promise, and I think were doing our end. I mean, I hope we are. I think they fans are really happy with everything theyve seen and Im so happy. This is my dream womens division right now.

Lovranski: Well, I have to say Im happy, because, you know, after watching the WWE, where they just pick girls because theyre hot-looking and have all the right accouterments, I was very impressed that all of the girls tonight looked like they had some working abilities as well.

Kim: Right. And you know what? We want to be different, because to be honest, you know, the sports called wrestling.

Lovranski: Yes, right.

Kim: And, I think theyre sick and tired of seeing, you know, the same thing over and over again. And we just want to show that we can go in the ring and put on entertaining matches and be just as tough as the guys.

Lovranski: Right. Now, the only thing is I think you should talk to Awesome Kong about her outfit, because she had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction.

Kim: I know - did you guys see that?!

Lovranski: Oh, yeah. Gail, it was very visible on the Pay-Per-View.

Kim: Oh, no, someone said that you couldnt see it, but I guess you could (Laughs).

Lovranski: Oh, no, no, you could. I mean, I thought shes a great worker. The match you had with her on the T.V. this week I thought was very good as well. Just tell her to adjust her clothing and I think shell be all set.

Kim (Laughs): Okay, I will. She is a very talented individual and I think shes going to make a really big impact on the womens division, definitely.

Lovranski: Talk about a couple of the other girls as well, because weve got Angel Williams in there as well, whos also from up this way.

Kim: Right. And I trained with her briefly. So did Ms. Brooks, and we actually havent worked with you since, you know, when I got signed by WWE. Traci went to TNA, and now we all kind of came full circle, and we got to be a part of this Gauntlet match, so its amazing. It was a great moment for everyone.

Lovranski: Yeah. Can you tell us a bit more about a couple of the other girls too? I was impressed with ODB. Whats her background?

Kim: Oh, my gosh. Shes been wrestling as long as Traci and I have been wrestling, so were going on eight years now.

Lovranski: Right.

Kim: Shes such a talented girl. Shes so charismatic, she can work in the ring, and shes got personality. So, hopefully, you know, she can land a contract and join the family one day.

Lovranski: So some of the girls, it was just a one-off for some of the girls tonight?

Kim: Yes. Awesome Kong now, she got signed, and also Im not sure, theres rumors about Shelly Martinez, but Im not sure, really. I dont really know the scoop, but I guess theyll officially announce whoever gets signed as they sign them on the website.

Lovranski: Right, right. We had just seen Shelly Martinez in ECW doing the Ariel character. I guess she didnt go too far in the Elvira competition, right?

Kim: I heard about that. I dont know exactly what it was. I mean, we dont really talk about it, so I dont know.

Lovranski: Im pretty sure Mike Tenay said in the commentary tonight that she had gotten beaten, unfortunately. Because I thought, when I heard that she was going to be in that I thought that shed be a natural for that.

Kim: Yes. I love her look, I think she has a very different look, and I love the fact that all the TNA Knockouts have their own distinctive personalities and look. So, she would be a great addition as well.

Lovranski: Yeah, that is definitely a good point, because again, in the WWE they really do tend to go for the cookie-cutter girl, right? They all want blondes, same, you know, blonde - blonde, blonde, blonde, blonde. And you guys did do a good job of presenting ten very different-looking women.

Kim: Exactly. And I think that I think it stands out to the fans and they remember that. And they can connect with you or they have a preference of who they like, so sorry, we almost ran over someone right now (Laughs).

Lovranski (Jokingly): Whoa, easy Gail! Now, now, dont run anyone over - please, please.

Kim (Laughs): I know. Just have to interview and drive.

Lovranski: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now you mentioned too how Awesome Kong was Amazing Kong, now its Awesome Kong. What happened there - why did they change the name abruptly like that?

Kim: I dont really know, to be honest. I think that they kind of liked that name better for some reason. Im not sure, I heard a couple of different names - I heard Queen Kong, I heard Awesome Kong, and then that was the final decision I guess tonight.

Lovranski: Right, right.

Kim: Yeah, yeah. Did you guys enjoy the match?

Lovranski: Yeah - again, as I said, because were so used to the WWE - they just pick the women because they look hot, they dont really have any in-ring abilities, so we were very happy. Well, Gail, you used the Emerald Frosion to win the match, how could I not be happy?

Kim (Laughs): Yeah, I kind of busted that out of nowhere tonight.

Lovranski: I liked it. I thought that was great, Im a big Misawa fan, I thought that was awesome.

Kim: Good, Im glad. And you know, you were talking about how youre so used to seeing the WWE and those girls, and the thing is, the mainstream crowd watches WWE, and they get millions of more viewers. So, a lot of people have a certain image of womens wrestling in their minds, so its like were fighting against that stereotypical thought. So, its even harder that way, so were still looked under the microscope and were just so happy. Everyones so happy right now.

Lovranski: So, what are we going to see next? Weve got you as the Champion. Now weve got to get some challengers for you now. I would expect because Kong beat you on the T.V., storyline-wise that would be perfect to have her challenge you for the title?

Kim: Well, Im welcoming the challenge. Thats all I gotta say.

Lovranski: And I guess it will definitely get a more prominent position now on the television and all that kind of stuff?

Kim: Yes. You know, like they said, theyre gonna have a womens division. So Im going to assume that we have already had a match every week, so I think theyre gonna follow up on that and weve gotten such positive reactions from all the matches. So I think TNAs really happy and wants to keep going in that direction.

Lovranski: And theres one other question I do want to address with you, Gail, just because its kind of overall wrestling industry question and a wrestling industry issue at the moment. And that, of course, is about the drug testing in pro wrestling, because were hearing that the U.S. government is looking into it, were going to have hearings. I just was curious as to whether anyone from TNA management has spoken to talent about a specific drug policy for TNA.

Kim: Yeah, I mean, weve heard about it. Were not sure exactly when its starting. But I know its going to be implemented, and were going to follow all the regulations and whatever we need to do.

Lovranski: So, you have heard that one will be in place soon then?

Kim: Yes, yes, thats what Ive heard. I dont you know, dont quote me on it (Laughs), but Im pretty sure its gonna happen. And it should, it should.

Lovranski: Yeah, absolutely. Alright, Gail, I want to thank you so much for joining us tonight and congratulations on winning the belt.

Kim: Thank you so much.

Lovranski: And, hopefully, we will see a proper womens division in TNA.

Arigatou Mib, i missed that match. Its amazing how Gail goes to quickly being squashed by Amazing Kong (or awesome..) then wins this battle royal for the championship.Amazing is fantastic so its nice she is given a chance to show what she can do in a big company (if you can call tna big). Anyway have been taking a shine to a young joshi wrestler named bambi recently
after watching a few Joshi shows, she is beautiful yet has real talent.Going to watch Wrestle Queendom 94 tonight or tomorrow to remember what womens wrestling at its best was like ^^.
