World Wrestling Entertainment is deeply saddened to report that today Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home. There are no further details at this time, other than the Benoit family residence is currently being investigated by local authorities.
Tonights Raw on USA Network will serve as a tribute to Chris Benoit and his family. WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit familys relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy.
I just woke up and I was checking my computer because of an ongoing download and I put the TV on to see if RAw was recoring and I see video package for Bneoit on what I thought was supposed to be Vince's memorial show. So I called up PWInsider.com and read teh news...
Forgive my por typing as my hands are hsaking right now and yes, I am not ashamed to admit that I am also crying alittle.
R.I.P Chris Benoit. Thanks for all the gerat memories.
Its is being reported as a double murder - Suicide. Doesn't matter what happened. The man is a legend.
This is another shocking death in the world of wrestling. My thoughts and prayers go out to the rest of his family.
RIP Rabid Wolverine. Woman, and their son Daniel too.
According to lead investigator Lt. Tommy Pope, of the Fayette County Sheriffs Department, in Fayetteville, Ga., the deaths of WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel were the result of a double murder-suicide, WWE.com has learned.Benoit failed to appear both at Saturdays live event in Beaumont, Tx., and WWEs Vengeance: Night of Champions in Houston Sunday night, after informing WWE of a family emergency. Several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, VP of Government Relations for WWE, Inc. Hering, in turn, spoke with Fayette County sheriffs Monday, and requested that they respond to the Benoit residence to check on him and his family.Authorities representing the Sheriffs Department initially had a difficult time entering Benoits new Fayetteville home Monday afternoon, which had been guarded by two large German Shepherds roaming freely around the property. Once authorities entered the residence, they quickly located the bodies of Benoit, Nancy and Daniel. WWE was notified of the discovery at approximately 4 p.m.At 10 p.m. Monday night, Lt. Pope held a press conference in conjunction with Scott Ballard, the district attorney for Fayette County. The press conference officially ruled authorities findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home.WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday. The three bodies have been received by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations crime lab, in Decatur, Ga., where autopsies will be performed Tuesday morning. Toxicology reports will not become available for at least two weeks.WWE.com has further information relating to both the investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriffs Department has requested that WWE.com not release any additional details at this time.
Im truly stunned...I dont know what to say...ill try comment later but its just tragic,he was one of my faverate wrestlers of all time, a decent man seemingly backstage and someone who would help anyone,a true legend..I just dont know what to say.
I can't believe how many people on other forums have already decided Benoit is guilty without waiting for the facts to be released. Suddenly they are experts in criminal investigation and have all the answers. Even the WWE have toned down their tributes and have decided that the next TV shows will be business as usual instead of follow up memorial shows.
To be honest, none of it makes sense to me. Everyone who spoke on RAW last night all said that Chris was a great family man so how somebody with that reputation could be capable of this is baffling.
Chris was a very well respected and very likeable guy,a loving family man as said, there is no way he would have had anything to do with the deaths. No way in hell.I read this over an hour ago and i still cant believe this..Chris was someone iv always admired, someone who delivers time after time fantastic matches and could always make a bad show much better when he gets in the ring and does his stuff.Watching Wrestlemania XX will be hard now, espicially the moment when eddy and Chris hug..They were on top of the world that night and deservidly so,then there is the moment when his family go into the ring with him as well.
Its impossible to think they are gone now..WWE is going to miss him terribly, and i know ill miss watching him thats for damn sure, one of the only reasons why i still try to catch WWE shows. But even sadder is his family and his young boy who while we discuss about Benoits career, will not be said much about even though they were just as important in the world as him...its a heartbreaking story..They will all be missed by their loved ones and the fans who admired him over the years.
To e honest Id rather live in denial about what they are saying and remeber the Rabid Wolverine for who he was... and a 7 year old boy's life snuffed out before it had even started. That really upsets me. And it seems a lot of people have forgotten that Benoits wife had a carer in wrestling too, as you would know she was the valet known as Woman. I've been talking to people at work about this and some of them know Im a wrestling fan and have talked to me about it. Not many of them would call themselves.. Fans, but they are also shocked too.
Unfortunately for quite a few people, the whole ethos of "innocent until proven guilty" doesn't exist and they're already villifying Benoit as a murderer when the truth is, we don't know the truth. The official investigation has yet to be completed and the autopsies and toxicology examinations have yet to take place with further reports pending. We don't know a damn thing about this except for the tidbits that have been subject to the usual media sensationalism.
As it stands, these murder claims are police suspicions and nothing more. The only true facts are that Chris Benoit, his wife and son are dead. Nothing else that has been released to the public has been proven to be true. It's not like the police haven't got it wrong before.
For something to come so out of the blue like this, there is either a deeper reason or it's a plain, cut and dried tragedy. And if it does happen to be true then the true reason again needs to come to light, rather than having people speculate and invent wild theories on the cause of this.
A friend of mine just called and told me and I thought you guys might already know. This is simply unbelivable. At first I thought it was someone witha sick windup. When I realised that this was real. I got really upset. Why has this happened? I don't think we will ever know.
We may never know what really happened, but it makes me a little angry that many people are already claiming chris is a child murdering scumbag when nothing has come out about what happened yet,as Mib mentioned.I really really just cannot seeing Chris doing anything of this nature, again,we dont know him personally, but by all accounts written about him,he was a very good man with a great passion for wrestling, for the fans and most of all for his family.
Im hearing all kinds of things from many other forums, such as he actually found his wife and child dead when he got back to his home, or he killed them over the fact they were cheering MVP on tv,all silly nonsense.Noone knows. All that should matter is we remember him for what he gave us fans and just paying respect to his legend. We will find out another time what happened but for now,i really hope people can just remember what he did and all the classic moments he gave.
Chris had many many incredible moments, had many world class matches all over the world, the most special moment for me and most others is the moment with Eddy after he won the title at Wrestlemania XX,i dont think ill ever be able to watch that again without a tear in my eye.
I will stand by what i say and that is chris didnt kill them, theres just no way in my mind he could do such a thing. All i ever heard about Chris was how good a man and how much of a family man he was when he was away from the ring, there was never anything negative that was spoken of him.The thing is,Chris was called from the ppv show for a family emergancy, obvioulsy there was something wrong before he was even there so something must have happened before he got back to where he lives. Its horrfying to think what actually happened, weither they were already dead when he got back or chris actually did go bezerk about something.
i was kinda amazed 2 hear this news on tv today,as i was after eddie s death, bcoz u would think in italy wrestling doesnt hv tht many fans but in fact i recall it was quite popular when i was a kid n just in these later years had a great came back as the shows were aired again on public tv,n well wht can i say...i dont consider myself a wrestling fan but surely benoit was one of the most killed wrestlers in the flyers chategory, one of my favourites 2 n hearing of this shocking news did amaze me; tho its not so uncommon 2 hear of persons noone could suspect 2 commit the most horrible crimes sometimes for foolish reasons, others just because they lost their minds,n tho i read tht police suspected benoit as the crime weapons were found on the scene,n tht they actually payed a visit 2 benoit home only after some of his mates asked em 2 investigate after they received some strange sms from him,who didnt show up 4 a couple of business meetings,i agree noone should jump too hastly to such conclusions tht he is the murder. i think in respect of the sorrow of his family people shouldnt speculate too much and let the police do their jobs, even tho for public figures like him is difficult to pretend from peple not to tell every single crap that will come to their mind when such mysterious tragedies happen. we can only hope, that the truth will come up soon so that there will be no shades left on the glory of this champion...on the other hand,i cant imagine what effect could have on all his fans n the wwf 2 if he was found guilty.may this never happen n could he rest in peace.
- CNN had a live report from just outside of the Benoit home earlier this morning. The investigator interviewed said they don't feel there is a "killer at large," but haven't ruled out that Benoit, wife Nancy, and son Daniel may have all been murdered. The investigation team will spend most of the day at the Benoit home finishing up their on going investigation. The investigator said they would know more in a few days.
- According to reports, Chris Benoit sent some curious text messages on Sunday to Chavo Guerrero. WWE's Vice President of Government Relations, Richard Hering, ended up calling the Fayette County sheriffs on Monday requesting they check the Benoit residence.
- WWE learned of the Benoit deaths at 4PM on Monday, and informed the wrestlers. They made the decision to cancel last night's live Raw program in favor of a tribute show.
- WWE will continue on with tonight's Smackdown and ECW tapings in San Antonio, TX. It appears WWE will go back to regular programming and will not focus on either Benoit or the Mr. McMahon "death" storyline.
- CNN is reporting that two weeks prior to the tragic events of this weekend, concerned WWE fans and fans of Chris Benoit called a local Atlanta news channel inquiring about the death of Benoit. CNN is unable to say where the rumor started but say it is an eerie coincidence to say the least. (I had not heard any such rumor and am quite surprised that CNN would mention it.)
Toxicology results will be in by 1:00PM EST and while police are almost positive it was a double murder-suicide, they are not ruling out any other cause of death in the case.
For those interested, CNN will be covering the toxicology results as soon as they become public.
Again, to refresh, two weeks PRIOR to this weekend, fans called a local Atlanta news channel asking if they knew any information on the death of Benoit.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - Details of the deaths of pro wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son may seem "a little bizarre" when released to the public, a prosecutor said.
Authorities were investigating the deaths at a secluded Fayette County home as a murder-suicide and were not seeking any suspects outside the home.
Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, "The details, when they come out, are going to prove a little bizarre."
Those details may emerge after the completion of autopsies scheduled for Tuesday.
Investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and son over the weekend and then himself sometime Monday. The bodies were found Monday afternoon in three different rooms of the house on Green Meadow Lane, in a subdivision off a gravel road about two miles from Whitewater Country Club.
The autopsies were scheduled to be done at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in DeKalb County.
World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Web site that it asked authorities to check on Benoit and his family after being alerted by friends who received "several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning."
Pope said the three were found about 2:30 p.m., but he would release no other details about the deaths.
Stamford, Conn.-based WWE also said on its Web site it had further information on the deaths of Benoit, 40; his wife, Nancy, 43; and son, Daniel, but had been asked by authorities not to release it.
Benoit, a native of Canada, was born in Montreal. He was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career. He was known by several names including "The Canadian Crippler."
"WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family's relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy," the federation said in a statement on its Web site.
Benoit was scheduled to perform at the "Vengeance" pay-per-view event Sunday night in Houston, but was replaced at the last minute because of what announcer Jim Ross called "personal reasons."
Benoit maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling.
The WWE canceled its live "Monday Night RAW" card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast.
Benoit's wife managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name, "Woman," The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
They met when her then-husband drew up a script that had them involved in a relationship as part of an ongoing story line on World Championship Wrestling, the newspaper said.
Benoit has two other children from a prior relationship.
I'm really feeling sick over this becasue I am trying to convince people on other forums to wait until the official report is released before passing judgement but the more information that is being released in the mean time is making it more difficult.
I won't deny I don't want it to be true but it would appear that I should be bracing myself for the worst. And even if it is, we then should be looking at the causes and reasons for this because a man with the reputation as being a genuine family man just doesn't kill his family out of the blue.
Unlike others, I can't write him off as a vicious murderer because this appears to be an isolated incident. If he was a ruthless random serial killer then that's a different matter, but this is clearly a personal and irregualr incident, the true circumstances for which we may never completely know.
It was the same with Eddie though when he died. All these idoits throwing around all kinds of sick stuff. Bottom line is outside of whatever went on in his head/private life he was a legend in the ring.
WWE has pulled all Chris Benoit merchandise from their Shopzone web site. Obviously this was done in reaction to the recent news regarding the Benoit family tragedy. If you search Benoits name on the web site, the result that you get is that the products have been discontinued.
Benoits name has been so far removed on the web site that the listing for the DVD of WrestleMania XX now reads, "Triple H defends his World Heavyweight Championship against Shawn Michaels."
So are the WWE going to re-edit all of their DVDs to remove Benoit's matches from them?
Thaats really bad, also is it me or have they cahnged his picture on the front page of wwe.com? I could have sworn he was smiling in the one ealier. now he just looks evil. Do you think that the WWE know exactly whats happened?
WWE have quietly removed pretty much all materials referring to Bneoit aside from the main story and their official press statement. He is no longer on the ECW Roster list and his anme has been removed from DVD match listings.
To be honest, I think it is more a case of them not loking like they are cashing in on his death and because they are now a publicly traded compnay, they are playing it safe by their shareholders.
i doubt if they know more than the police but this report is scary:
TMZ has learned more about the deaths of WWE wrestling superstar Chris Benoit, his wife and son -- and the information is extremely disturbing.
Several Atlanta-based law enforcement sources have told TMZ Benoit may have strangled his wife on Saturday, then smothered his son in his bed a day later. Investigators refuse to officially comment, pending final confirmation by the coroner on the cause and time of the deaths.
One source told TMZ that Benoit was texting friends during Sunday's WWE "Vengeance" Pay-Per-View program -- possibly watching the show with his son, who may have been alive at the time.
According to sources, Benoit then hanged himself Monday in a weight room inside the family home.
A police investigation is ongoing.
This is looking real bad. FOX News also shared this report a few minutes ago. All I wil say is that Benoit must have been in one really messed up frame of mind to do this - if he did.
Its not looking good is it. The guy was probably really messed up but to kill a 7 year old. I would have a hard time with this if it's true. My oldest is 6 and I couldn't even come close to imagining doing something like that. The really frightning part is that the bodys were killed days apart. Daniel must have had a very scary final 24 hours of his life.
I have to stop writing about this now Im getting really het up about it. Im seriously hoping this is not true.
Right well just watched the press conference and several things struck me.
1. Benoit indeed looks like he killed them. 2. The bible by their feet thing to me is some kind of weird reference to Eddie 3. The fact they found prescription Steriods can only mean trouble for the WWE - The mere fact he ahd some other drugs etc. means that what we all knew that certain wrestlers were being sheilded and protected from these tests. This is going to bite the WWE very hard on the backside! 4. The guy had issues, much more than anyone knew.
This is a real tragedy and a mess I pray that Daniel and Nancy have found peace in Heaven and that Benoit is at rest now.
This is a horrible story,i dont know what to think,i was certain chris could never do this but the more and more i read, the more it looks like he really did do this...if he did infact kill them both then i just cant ever respect the guy again, there is no excuses for him,you just dont do this kind of thing. He must have been really messed up in the head.I dont think i want to read anymore into this situation.Just read your post Dark M and...thats just disturbing..I cant believe it,but i guess he really did kill them.
Dark M,would you be able to change my username in the future? I know it sounds silly but..i dont know,i just dont think i can be comfertable having it in my username anymore.
No Problems ???101 just mailme and i'll sort it. Here's notes from the Press Conference:
News conference notes from Fayetteville, GA:
From: WGGL shown on Fox News
- Lt. Pope: WWE called police officials at 2:30PM on Monday over concern for Benoits well being. Police found all three bodies in the home. Double Homicide Suicide is the official ruling.
- It appears Benoit killed his wife on Friday, his son shortly after, and likely hanged himself either late Saturday night or early Sunday.
- No suicide note was left behind.
- Asphyxiation is the official ruling for Benoits wife and son deaths.
- Benoit was previously arrested for a DUI.
- A lot of prescription medication was found in the home, legal prescriptions.
- Police found anabolic steroids in the home.
- No comment from police regarding a possible motivation.
- He killed himself several hours, but no more than a day, after killing son Daniel.
- Police is unaware of prior domestic violence.
- District Attorney Scott Ballard stated that a Bible was placed near each murder victim.
- Benoit bond Nancys hands and feet and she was wrapped in a towel. Blood was found near Nancys body.
- In 2003, a temporary restraining order was sought but later dropped.
- Benoit made no attempt to hide the bodies.
- The DA himself has not heard from WWE.
- Daniel was found in an upstairs bedroom. Benoits wife was also found in an upstairs family room, and Benoit hung himself in the weight room in the basement.
- The toxicology reports are still pending. It will probably take more than two weeks for the reports to be finished.
- Benoit apparently called WWE stating that Daniel was coughing up blood, thus likely the personal reasons for missing weekend house shows.
Well, I am disappointed and saddened by the findings. I think the FOX News people were getting a little hysterical and trying to fill their sensationalist quota for the evening with regard to how much the steroids played in all of this. By their logic, 90% of WWE wrestlers or sports stars would have murdered someone by now because of roid rage.
If this means wrestling and other sports clamps down once and for all on steroids then in a perverse way at least something good has come out of this, even if it did take such a serious tragedy to make it happen
Whether it was the roids or not, something set Benoit off and I honestly don't believe he was in the right frame of mind and the same person who entertained us as one of the best wrestlers of all time. It's just so heart breaking to imagine that and to admit that.
Sadly his legacy has been tainted - much like Gary Glitter - and it's a shame that it has ended this way. I'll still remember him as a great wrestler even if other's don't or can't feel it appropriate to do so. I can respect that.
I can't think anymore I am mentally and emotionally fatigued by all of this.
I still think that the WWE are going to have to do something about this now. As they are going to come under a lot of fire for this, their fault or not...
TNA have removed the Benoit tribute now as well...
A very sad day,i still cannot believe whats happened to Chris and his family. But what he has done, there is no excuse for and iv lost every bit of respect for him i had, there is just nothing that can ever comprehend what he has done.
Some of the information learned by 1Wrestling.com by colleagues and friends that did not want to be quoted:
"This wasn't roid rage, this was insanity. Roid rage doesn't last for 48 hours. There were signs that something was wrong. Stories have emerged that a year ago he became paranoid and believed he was being followed. He wouldn't let Nancy leave the house because he believed someone was out to get them."
Chris hated religion. He didn't believe in it. I cannot comprehend him putting bibles by the bodies. I am shocked.
In addition, 1Wrestling has learned that sources close to Nancy are reporting that she had a safety deposit box with evidence of past rages and that authorities should check the box if anything ever happened to her.
Things seem to be getting worse, more disturbing secrets are coming out about Chris,i dont know if we should believe them, but then the man did murder his family, who knows what he was like? This is only going to get worse and more dirt about Chris is no doubt going to be brought up.
District Attorney Scott Ballard was interview on CNN Headline news by Erica Hill. Here are the highlights:
- Once again, Ballard said Nancy Benoit was killed sometime on Friday, Daniel on Saturday morning, and Benoit killed himself Saturday night.
- According to the medical examiner, Nancy was found with bruise marks on her back which is consistent with a knee being placed on her back, bruising on the front of her body suggesting she had been pressed against the floor, and her neck indicated she had been strangled.
- There is no indication Daniel tried to make contact with anyone after his mother had been killed.
- There were needle marks in Daniels arm, suggesting he was taking growth hormones for quite sometime.
- Ballard suggested that Benoit may have killed his son with a chokehold.
- Text messages from Benoit indicated that Nancy and Daniel were sick (probably sent when Nancy and Daniel had already been killed), and one messaged indicated that the pets needed to be let out.
- Dr. Alan Lipman, also interviewed by CNN, suggested that in the past, Benoit was breaking up the furniture in the home and threatening Nancy.
And the WWE side of thngs is not much better:
Dave Meltzer is reporting that tonight's Smackdown and ECW television tapings will consist of only matches, and thus, no story lines or angles. Vince McMahon has been described as a rock of strength for the talent and the office. Like the wrestling community, wrestlers and the creative staff are saddened, reeling and perplexed about the whole Benoit situation. Like last night, the shows written have been scrapped.
WWE® Shocked At Latest Developments In Benoit Tragedy, Concerned By Sensationalistic Reporting
STAMFORD, Conn., June 26, 2007 World Wrestling Entertainment is stunned and saddened by the details released by local authorities concerning the double homicide-suicide involving Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and his son, Daniel.
However, WWE is concerned with the sensationalistic reporting and speculation being undertaken by some members of the media following the press conference held by the Fayette County Sheriffs Department and the District Attorney. During the press conference, the investigating authorities made the following points, all of which run contrary to the media speculation that "roid rage" was a factor in the senseless murders and suicide:
1. The authorities stated that all drugs found in the house were believed to be legal prescriptions.
2. Steroids were not, and could not, be related to the cause of death (asphyxiation). Authorities had no factual basis to speculate as to Benoits state of mind, and rightly did not do so.
3. Toxicology tests have not even been completed, so there is no current evidence that Benoit even had steroids or any other substance in his body. In that regard, on the last test done on Benoit by WWE's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007, Benoit tested negative.
4. The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage.
5. WWE strongly suggests that it is entirely wrong for speculators to suggest that steroids had anything to do with these senseless acts, especially when the authorities plainly stated there is no evidence that Benoit had steroids in his body, pending the toxicological reports, and that they had no evidence at this time as to the motive for these acts.
WWE is continuing to monitor the ongoing investigation being conducted by local authorities. This is now quite possibly the biggest mess the WWE could have evr imagined. This is not going to have a happy ending, it looks likely to get worse.
Unbeliveable...you have to wonder whats going to happen or whats going to come out next about Chris..The more stuff we hear, the more detestable a man he becomes, and you would never have said that a couple of days ago. Here i was saying how punk and Benoit have the potential to have a match of the year and 2 days later..
Below is a detailed WWE/Chris Benoit timeline from Saturday to Monday:
Saturday, June 23, 2007
Chris Benoit was scheduled to appear at the WWE SmackDown/ ECW live event in Beaumont, Texas
3:30pm A co-worker received a voice message from Benoit. The message from Benoit stated he missed his flight and over slept and would be late to the WWE Live Event. The co-worker called Benoit back, Benoit confirmed everything he said in his voice message and sounded tired and groggy. Benoit then stated, I love you. The co-worker stated that it was out of context.
3:42pm The same co-worker was concerned with Benoits tone and demeanor and called Benoit for a second time. Benoit did not answer the call and the co-worker left a message stating just call me back.
3:44pm Benoit called the co-worker back stating he didnt answer the call because he was on the phone with Delta changing his flight. Benoit stated he had a real stressful day due to Nancy and Daniel being sick with food poisoning. They discussed travel plans for the WWE Tour of Texas with Benoit still sounding groggy at this point according to the co-worker.
4:30pm A co-worker who consistently travels with Benoit, called Benoit from outside Houston airport and Benoit answered. Benoit told the co-worker that Nancy was throwing up blood and that Daniel was also throwing up. Benoit thought they had food poisoning. Benoit stated he changed his flight and he would be arriving into Houston at 6:30pm. Benoit told the co-worker to drive onto the WWE event.
5:35pm Benoit called WWE Talent Relations stating that his son was throwing up and that he and Nancy were in the hospital with their son, and that Benoit would be taking a later flight into Houston, landing late, but would make the WWE live event in Beaumont.
6:10pm A representative of Talent Relations called Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations asked Benoit what time Benoit was getting into Beaumont. Benoit responded he was leaving Atlanta at 9:20pm Eastern time arriving into Houston at 9:24pm Central time. The representative from Talent Relations advised Benoit that it would be too late to make the WWE live event in Beaumont. Benoit apologized citing he had a family emergency. The representative from Talent Relations suggested to Benoit that instead of going to the WWE live event in Beaumont, Benoit should take the flight to Houston, rest up and be ready for the Vengeance Pay-Per-View event.
6:13pm The representative from Talent Relations called Benoit to reconfirm the travel plans with no answer from Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations left a voice message to take the flight and rest up.

4:00pm WWE received a call from the Fayetteville County Sheriffs office, advising that they entered the house of Benoit and found 3 deceased bodies (a male, a female and a child). The Fayetteville Sheriffs office has secured the house as a major crime scene and that the Fayetteville County Sheriffs Office had no further information.
sadly i knew something like did would happen when the suspicious of his guilt would become more consinstent...also when things like this happen media work their arses off pretty up to dig up as much dirt as they can from a person past,in order to sell the most sensational scoops; its really sad 2 think of how all the good a person can do in a life time,it can b erased in a single minute of madness,of how idols r praised and the moment after thrown in the mud; some will call this destiny, kharma or gods will but frankly i dont think this has any importance at all in front of such a tragedy of a man,his family and the thousands of ppl who looked at him as a role model to inspire themselves n tht r now left in awe, disappointed n full of mistrust:can u imagine 2 c ur ideals wept away brutally all of a sudden,n all tht is left is the despise other ppl will pour on u 4 ever supporting a person like this, when in the past they would admire him themselves? how does a person get thru it when he loses all the trust he had in his blievings n he has 2 choose if standing 2 them even at the cost of being blamed by others or quitting all to side with the mass, just to survive? i do have a lot of pity for all those who claimed to be his fans bcoz they would b really lonely n sad n angry in this moment,n its really strange 2 think how ppl can get attached 2 public figures as actors n such or even influenced by them in their life, even tho they will just know them as 4 wht they appear 2 b on the screen. its really dramatical n typical of our so called modern civilization,2 create models just in order 2 sell n then getting rid of them when troubles get in the way. what WWE is doing now,its truly disgusting and only out of an economical interest with no respect 4 the sorrow tht these deeds caused 2 many fans n ppl,n i truly hope tht they get nailed 2 their responsabilities as soon as possible bcoz its not right 2 use benoit as an easy way out 4 them not 2 pay; perhaps they rnt completely responsible of this drama, but they sure hv a part in it n many others as well,so in name of everything is righteous n for the sake of all the persons who gravitate around the wrestling world, the athletes n the fans 2,its necessary tht evrything is done not 2 leave anything unsolved n tht once 4 all,the rotten individuals r separated from the others who just honestly wish to do their job professionally and for those who are willing to pay money to enjoy a real show. i know i am naive to hope this, because if this was easily possible to do,then every other social problem could be solved as well,as corruption is everywhere n everywhere causes even bigger tragedies than that, but i still like 2 think tht something can b done,n tht the world would b a better place if from such a sad story something starts 2 move n change, the truth emerges n th true responsibles are convicted.even winnging wht may seem a small battle like this would contribute greatly n if i was a wrestling fan i would definetly want 2 believe in this even more right now. sorry for the long rant, and all my moral support goes to those of u whom truly suffered from this, from the bottom of my heart.
To be fair Oni, WWE are not doing anything wrong at all, because as a publicly traded compnay they cannot be seen to be linked to this situation in any way. By continuing with selling his merchandise and running features about him, it would seem like they are capitalising on this new found interest and for once, there are right to distance themselves. By simply reporting the same news as everyone else without putting thier usual spin on it to make themselves look better which they have in the past, I actualy applaud the WWE. They have also chosen to keep all references of this away from the TV show which is another sensible thing to do.
Whatever made Chris Benoit do what he did - and I believe that it was more a case of mental instabiity caused by his hard hitting wrestling style than the heavily speculated "Roid rage"- the WWE is not culpable for any of this. The steroid angle is an easy hook for the media to latch onto and they have run with it despite it being unproven and frnakly, unlikely to the cause of this. But, if it causes another re-think of the drug testing policy in the WWE and in sports in gneral then in some perverse way, somthing positive wil have come from this.
I still think that this is a massive tragedy born out of something dark and unfortunate that we shall never know the true origin of.
WWE are doing the only thing they can do really,i think its the correct thing.Im utterly shocked by what i read about Chris and it looks like there is going to be more to come about him over the next week or two,so many rumours about whats happened and all of them just shock you to the very bone.According to some reports,Nancy was beaten and tied up by chris, choked to death then he moved on to his son and locked on a choke hold to kill him.Utterly inhumane if that is true.A deeply disturbing and unhappy story and i guess we should expect more revelations to come about the REAL chris benoit.
I recorded this with my friend andsaw the Benoit mention. We were shocked... and now I'm just really dissapointed at what sort of human being he is behind closed doors.
Oh Dear, Austins Ex Debra, has been to the press....
Pro Wrestling Wife Claims Drug Abuse, Domestic Violence 'Out of Hand in the WWE'
The former wife of pro wrestling superstar "Stone Cold" Steve Austin broke what had been a court-imposed silence and charged that "domestic and drug abuse is out of hand in the WWE and something needs to be done about it."
Debra Williams' stunning charge, reported Wednesday by MyFoxColorado.com, comes in the wake of the grisly discovery of the bodies of Chris Benoit and his wife, Nancy-Daus Benoit, and 7-year-old son, Daniel.

Police in Fayetteville, Ga., say Benoit strangled his wife Friday, then suffocated his son on Saturday before hanging himself on Sunday. Their bodies were discovered Monday morning after Benoit canceled pay-per-view and personal appearances that weekend in Texas.
Investigators said anabolic steroids and other drugs were found in the Benoit house.
Williams, meanwhile, is one of the more visible wrestling wives and had been scripted into many televised bouts and appearances. She was married to Steve McMichaels, a former Chicago Bears football player, when she first began working with the Atlanta-base World Championship Wrestling organization. When that group was acquired by WWF now WWE she divorced McMichaels and married Austin.
Williams told MyFoxColorado.com that Nancy-Daus Benoit's history of domestic violence and being married to a steroid user was similar to her own.

Both sought help from law enforcement because of domestic abuse, she said.
In 2003, Benoit sought a divorce from Chris Benoit saying he physically abused her, and asked the courts for a restraining order. Williams did the same thing on the third occasion when she says she was attacked by "Stone Cold."
"He did them, I saw him do them!" Williams said about her ex-husband's use of steroids.
Williams says, like Benoit, Austin all but forced her to write a letter to authorities saying her complaint was a mistake. But in Williams case, the courts put Austin on probation for a year. In return, Williams says she was placed under a gag order, forcing her to remain silent about the "dark side" of professional wrestling, filled with drugs, booze and domestic abuse.
"If only I had spoken up sooner, maybe Nancy and her little boy would be alive today... that's why I'm going public now, something has to change!"
Professional wrestler Chris Benoit met with his personal physician hours before he allegedly killed his wife and son and then hanged himself in his basement, the doctor said Wednesday.
"He was in my office on Friday to stop by just to see my staff," said Dr. Phil Astin of metro Atlanta. "He certainly didn't show any signs of any distress or rage or anything."
Authorities say Benoit strangled his wife, suffocated his 7-year-old son Daniel and placed a Bible next to their bodies before hanging himself with a weight-machine pulley over the weekend. No motive was offered for the killings, which were spread out over the weekend and discovered Monday.
Astin, who said he was Benoit's longtime friend and physician, said he had prescribed testosterone to Benoit because he suffered from low amounts of the hormone. He said the condition likely originated from previous steroid use. He would not say what, if any, medications he prescribed the day of the meeting.
"I'm still very surprised and shocked, especially with his child Daniel involved," said Astin. "He worshipped his child."
Investigators said Benoit's 43-year-old wife was strangled Friday with what appeared to be a cable in an upstairs family room, and her feet and wrists were bound and there was blood under her head, indicating a possible struggle. Daniel was probably killed late Saturday or early Sunday, and his body was found in his bed, the district attorney said.
Before the killings, the family was struggling with how to care for the child, who suffered from a rare medical condition called Fragile X Syndrome, an inherited form of mental retardation often accompanied by autism, said Jerry McDevitt, an attorney for World Wrestling Entertainment.
"Him and Nancy were clearly struggling about this whole issue, about how to take care of Daniel," said McDevitt.
"I don't know what he confronted when he went back into the house," he said. "No one really knows that. We'll have to see. Clearly this issue of the son was a stressor on both of their relationships for some time."
District Attorney Scott Ballard said the autopsy indicated that there were no bruise marks on his neck, so authorities are now assuming he could have been killed using a choke hold. "It's a process of elimination," he said.
Anabolic steroids were found in Benoit's home, leading officials to wonder whether the drugs may have caused the muscle man nicknamed the "Canadian Crippler" to kill his wife and child and then himself.
The WWE, based in Stamford, Conn., issued a news release Tuesday evening saying steroids "were not and could not be related to the cause of death" and that the findings indicate "deliberation, not rage." It also added that Benoit tested negative April 10, the last time he was tested for drugs.
"The drugs they had found in there, including the steroids, were all pursuant to legitimate prescription. We know they know which doctor prescribed it," McDevitt said. "There's no question, none of these drugs are out there, none of these drugs came from Internet pharmacies."
While steroids can cause the paranoia and explosive outbursts known as "roid rage," the drug is also associated with deep and lengthy bouts of depression.
"Just as you have the extreme high of when you're on steroids, you can get the opposite," said Dr. Todd Schlifstein, a clinical assistant professor at the New York University School of Medicine. "You can have a dramatic difference in mood swings. You can feel there's no hope, there's no future."
So maybe Benoit and Nancy had an argument, Benoit flipped out then panicked at the thought of him going to jail and no-one being able to take care of Daniel?
Still doesn't excuse killing a defensless 7 year old though. The more I think about it it, it seems that little Daniel may have lived in fear of what his father was going to do for the last few hours of his young life...
I'm not defending him but I seeing this as some form of desperation act, as though Benoit felt he was saving Daniel from a life without his parents and a release from his Fragile X syndrome - akin to swicthing off a life support system if you will.
It's a perverted logic for sure but someone who reportedly worshipped his son so much, I just don't believe he did it maliciously and there is no proof of his frame of mind at the time to suggest he was thinking clearly.
It's in two parts and there is a link to the second part on this page.
I'm no Bill DeMott fan but I have to give him credit for trying to get the discussion back to the Benoit tragedy and not the steroids witch hunt which is all the media and FOX newscasters are interested in.
And Debra needs to shut up. All it is with her is "Me me me" with her. She blames Austin attacking her on steroids yet forgets he was a big time beer drinker!
Judge for yourselves.
Also this morning on FOX they had that Geraldo guy on with Alex Marvez of WO.com and Debra and again they were pushing the steroid/drug angle. Geraldo even went as far as to say that he "did not believe for one minute" that Daniel Benoit's Fragile X syndrome had any effect on Chris Bneoit to make him lose it.
Pious and sensationalist tabloid journalism at its worst...
I cant stand Debra and never understood why she ever worked in wrestling, she has nothing to do with any of this so she should just get lost.Iv tried to avoid this news over the last few days as im still really really stunned and i just dont want to hear what has happened and what kind of guy he really was, being that i really admired the man a lot and always believed in him not only being a great wrestler, but one of the best pros outside the ring,a true family man who everyone could admire.
Iv always been a big fan of Chris, and when i was younger,i wanted to be a wrestler, just like him,i know it sounds quite silly, but he was always someone i really respected more then anyone else in the buisness.Losing him was a huge shock and to learn about him even more now..well..i just dont know what to think. The way this happened, what he did,how he did it..it just horrifies you,as bad as it was to have him do what he did to Nancy, what shocks me most of all is what he did to his innocent young boy Daniel,i just cant imagine how he could do it..Dispicable..cruel and selfish.Chris was obvioulsy not an evil man,but...i dont know..Theres just nothing else to say..for me..
Everyone has their heros and the people they admire,Chris was one of mine and im just truly gutted by all of this.
However, the big news is that Dr. Astin turned himself in yesterday and will face SEVEN charges of distributing illegal drug prescriptions - including over a million steroid dosages prescriptions over 2 years.
He also is said to have given Benoit 10 months worth of steroids every 3-4 weeks. That's 10 years worth in 12 months!!!
Warrior finally joined Hannity and Colmes on Tuesday night. Here is a recap:
- Warrior said steroids are used in the wrestling industry, all the way through. He said its easier to point out which guys arent on steroids as compared to which wrestlers that are on steroids.
- I did use steroids, said Warrior. He said he has always been honest about it. He said there is a difference between use and abuse.
- Warrior said using steroids is a sacrifice that wrestlers make to make it the business. I dont think taking steroids is bad, said Warrior. He is all for personal freedom.
- Im not here to make excuses for this monster, said Warrior regarding Benoit.
- "The drug test is a ruse. It's an artifice specifically designed for the sensationalized, high-profile tragedies when people come forward and they make reasonable allegations that the talent is using drugs. It's this simple for me. For me to believe that the drug tests on the live bodies are legit, I have to believe all the autopsies on the dead bodies are lies, said Warrior.
- Warrior goes back to the use vs. abuse argument. He said a lot of classic bodybuilders took steroids and they are still alive today.
- Warrior said guys die in the industry because they dont leave healthy lives over all.
- Warrior attributed the Benoit case more to prescription medication rather than steroids.
- He said that he did know Benoit. Warrior said there is no excuse for this guy.
- Warrior went on a rant about athletes that write books about people that use steroids and about kids in high school using steroids.
- Warrior said No, I do not think so, when asked if he believed steroids played in factor in the Benoit case.
Very interesting article from Mr Kennedy's own website,
http://ken-kennedy.com/
Please GOD, I'm just BEGGING for someone who has actually wrestled in a WWE ring in the past decade besides Jericho, Bret Hart, John Cena, and Ted Dibiase to come forward on one of these shows and tell the world what's really going on. For these goofs, like Lanny Poffo? Ultimate Warrior? and Marc Mero???!! to repeatedly act as "experts" and "wrestler advocates" on the current situation is like having a frustrated ex-jock who rode the pine bench throughout his high school sports career give advice to Brett Favre on how to improve his game! It's ridiculous, insane, and it really makes me sick that these so called reporters like Bill O'Reilly, Nancy Grace, and Geraldo Rivera, call upon these silly bastards who are bitter and frustrated that their careers have ended to represent the WWE which of course makes all of us look like a bunch of babbling idiots who are all addicted to steroids, drugs, alcohol, etc.
THINGS ARE MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THEY WERE FIVE OR TEN OR TWENTY YEARS AGO! Most of the "expert", frustrated ex-wrestlers that they've had on the show came from an era where everyone wrestled every day and then went out and partied like rock stars until dawn, drinking copious amounts of alcohol, smoking cigarettes and marijuana, snorting cocaine, taking fistfuls of pills, and injecting massive amounts of steroids. They would take pills to go to sleep, snort coke or take speed to get up and do this day after day after day! This would not be even remotely tolerated in today's environment. We have a strict drug policy in place. The WWE's wellness program was designed and instituted by the same doctor who implemented the NFL and the NBA's substance abuse programs. Contrary to what somebody recently said on one of these "tabloid" shows the WWE's allowed levels are exactly the same as the NFL. (Someone, I can't recall exactly who said it, said that the WWE allowed a 10:1 Testosterone to Epitestosterone level, which is false. We have a 4:1 level exactly like the NFL and the NBA.) In fact, I knew of someone who took an over the counter supplement from GNC which he didn't know was on the banned list, which caused him to have an elevated testosterone level. This individual was suspended and fined because of it. We can't even take Ephedrine which is another legal supplement that can be bought at any gas station in the country. Since I've been with the company, I've seen the few people that did have problems with drugs either sent to rehab to try and help them overcome their addictions, (sent to one of the top rehab facilities in the country and paid for in full by the WWE) or be fired for repeat offenses. Look at the list of wrestlers who have prematurely passed away over the years, and most of them made the decision to live their lives this way. That's right, I said "made the decision" because we have this cool thing in the United States of America called "freedom of choice". I have the choice to quit my job if I don't like it, or if I feel that I'm on the road too much. I have the right to choose whether or not I want to break the law and use drugs. I have the right to choose between eating healthy food and exercising regularly and eating fast-food three times a day, not going to the gym, and becoming obese like a good majority of the citizens in this country. When will individuals be held accountable for their own actions? Will it ever happen, or will we always try and point the finger at someone else? Unfortunately as much as I respect the man, Superstar Billy Graham is ultimately responsible for the health problems he suffers from right now because of the choices he made in his career. I find it both sad and humorous that the man who many say is largely responsible for starting the whole "steroid craze" in pro-wrestling is now pointing the finger at the industry rather than blaming himself.
I, like everyone else in the company, have the luxury of being able to go home almost every week, play with my dog, hang out with my girlfriend, sleep in my own bed, and eat good home cooked food. This wasn't the case with these frustrated ex-wrestlers who are trying to grasp on to FIVE more minutes of fame and recognition.
I hear some of these guys talking about how the WWE doesn't have any type of benefits. I heard Johnny Grunge's widow on Nancy Grace saying that wrestling leaves you with nothing, and that two weeks after her husband was released from WCW that they lost their cars and their home. It apparently wasn't obvious to Nancy Grace, who is reportedly an extremely intelligent person, that they were obviously living outside of their means, and they weren't doing something that my parents taught me to do when I was a little kidSAVE MONEY. This job pays well, but I know that it won't last forever. It's the same problem with pro athletes and actors in Hollywood who spend, spend, spend, like the money grows on trees and like it's always going to be there, and then falls flat on their faces when their careers are suddenly cut short. Who's fault? The team? The studio in Hollywood? I'm sorry, but I have no sympathy for people who don't save money and spend everything that they earn so they can impress everyone around them with all the NEAT THINGS that they own. As far as the having no health insurance thing goes, I've been seriously injured twice since I've been in the WWE. Every red cent has been paid for in full by the company, which is the case for any employee who is injured during a work or work-related event. Yes, I have my own supplemental insurance which is a bit expensive, but if WWE paid for it, I'm sure that, just like every other company in the country that offers health insurance to their employees, I would just be paid less, so it's a wash!
In the end, we are all responsible for our own actions. Saying that Vince McMahon is responsible for the deaths of the Benoit's is like saying that you and I are responsible for the deaths of Anna Nicole Smith and her son. The millions of people who tuned in every week to be entertained by "how funny" she was when she was all PILLED up and DRUNK, suddenly became the same people who acted SHOCKED and APALLED when she died of a drug overdose. Somebody, PLEASE, stop the insanity!!!!
This would be the same Ken Kennedy who was roided to the gills in OVW and in his first WWE appearances then when he ws out injured lost a TON of size?
And you notice he would ratehr play with his dog first then hang out with his girlfriend?
He does have a point that a lot of these older guys are bitter about business that has evolved since their day but truth be told, Kennedy is towing the compnay line a little because you just have to look at the current lot being pushed at the top: DAVE and Lashley are both walking adverts for roid use. Oh and with Kennedy currently getting a big push himself of course he is going to defend the company. Yet somehow in 10-15 years time when he is a retired and forgotten star he will be on these shows saying how much the business sucked and how roids are still a big issue despite WWE claims to the contrary.
