I'm surprised none of youe Anime(maniacs) have posted this yet, so I thought Id beat you to the punch. Due out soon here's the synopsis:
From Studio Ghibli, the team that brought you Spirited Away and Howls Moving Castle, comes Tales From Eathsea, which marks the directorial debut of Goro Miyazaki, son of the legendary Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away).
Based on the unique series of books by Ursula Le Guin, this enchanting story takes place in a fantasy world of dragons and wizards. A ship is tossed by a raging sea and two dragons appear from the storm clouds, only to devour each other. This is seen to be a terrible omen that the very balance of the world is collapsing and sets Sparrowhawk, a wizard, on his quest to find the source of the evil forces that are shaking the world
I will be running a competition closer to the date to win some Studio Ghibli DVDs so watch this space. Oh and there will be a press screening in London, fancy a +1 road trip anyone?
I didn't get round to posting about this as they was some uncertaintyabout a UK release date for this because the Sci-Fi channel in the US had the rights to the story and thus distribution of any interpretations of it. It looks like that issue has now been resolved.
Young Goro Miyazaki has a lot to live up to so I reckon the poor sod will find this film under meticulous scrutiny from the press.
Sorry to double post but i bought the 4 disc special of this movie and it looks truly breathtaking, hope to watch this tonight, but there is lots of fantastic films here i want to buy but just cant afford!
