So, basically, what are your favourite film scores? For me, one of the best is the score for Back to the Future, at least the first two. Considering that it's a light hearted comedy, the music is extremely epic and really gets you excited about what's happening, which is something Alan Silverstri is very good at. Although, normally, it has been the main theme of films that have been his centrepieces (Predator being a good example), BTTF is amazing all round.
Another staggeringly epic score is the one for the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Scored by Klaus Badelt (Curse of the Black Pearl) and Hans Zimmer (Dead Man's Chest and At World's End). Once again, there is a staggering main theme, He's a Pirate, but also plenty of other themes, usually tied to a specific character that are used to set the tone.
Star Wars. In fact, anything scored by John Williams to be honest.
Also the Korean film Brotherhood (Taegukgi) has a powerful soundtrack especially the climactic battle scene where the two brothers reunite. And of course, Battle Royale.
All of the Ennio Morricone scores are pretty good, especially the ones for the Sergio Leone films. I also like most scores from historical epic type films.
Ennio is definetly a future CPC Moviies Hall of Famer for sure. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is an all time classic. So I take it you ,mean scores for things like Braveheart, Gladiator that type of thing? Or do you mean old movies?
