The first time I listened to this album I got tingles down my spine. from "Holy Wars" to "Rust in Peace" it's just a massive attack of sound. In my opinion the best Megadeth album by the Best Megadeth Line up (Dave Mustaine, Marty Friedman, David Ellifson and Nick Menza) I think the Mustaine - Friedman Dual Guitaring is outstanding a fine example of how Thrash/Speed Metal should be played.
For me the Two stand out tracks are :-
Hangar 18 which is really in two parts. you have the catchy hooks of the Vocal part of the song, then you have Dualing solos from the middle of the song to the end. it's a master class of Technical Guitaring if you ask me.
Tornado of Souls Which is a flat out Thrash classic, it's smart use of Natural Harmonics and vigour of the intro right up 'til the last notes of the song. it's a song you can just punch the air to and a Mosh favorate when you hear it live.
To say that these are the best songs is downplaying the other equally awesome songs on the album. I'd definately recommend it though.
Feel free to write like mini reviews. I shall as and when I feel the need to mouth off about a certain album :D
Edit:- I changed it to a general album thread to organise things

Rather than do a new review for my favourite album I'll just lift a previous one from my web site with a slight revamp:
QUEEN II
QUEEN
(1974)
BAND PERSONNEL
FREDDIE MERCURY - Vocals/Piano / BRIAN MAY - Guitar/Vocals
JOHN DEACON - Bass / ROGER TAYLOR - Drums/Vocals
TRACK LISTING
Procession / Father To Son / White Queen (As It Began) / Some Day One Day / The Loser In The End / Ogre Battle / The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke / Nevermore / The March Of The Black Queen / Funny How Love Is / Seven Seas Of Rhye
Along with the band's eponymous debut, Queen II remains one of the most overlooked albums in the illustrious career of one of the world's biggest bands.
Peaking at number 5 in the UK album charts in early 1974 and spawning the hit single Seven Seas Of Rhye, this is a very ambitious yet confident album, with the band's performance as tight as ever and their song writing touched upon hitherto uncharted areas of creativity.
From the anthemic instrumental opener of Procession to the closing jape of We Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside in the outro of the aforementioned Seven Seas..., all of Queen's trademark production elements are already in place on this album - the multi-layered harmonies and guitar solos, the epic musical arrangements and the band's collective tongues firmly in their cheeks, as displayed on such quirky moments as The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke..
Whereas the first Queen album had been dismissed by some as a Led Zeppelin clone, despite all of the band's originality shining through, Queen II was the album that established the band's own identity, with Father To Son being the only track to hint at being bred from the same stable as the first album.
Freddy Mercury's incredible vocal range is pushed to its full potential on this album, perhaps more than any other of Queen's recorded output. Freddy brings the right balance of passion and frailty to Brian May's beautifully poetic White Queen (As It Began), then turning into a demonic overlord on Ogre Battle and Seven Seas of Rhye, before slipping effortlessly into the role of sympathy seeker on Nevermore. Then its all change once again for the almost girlish highs on the joyus Spector-ish pop of Funny How Love Is
However, it's not just Freddy who holds the spotlight - Brian May, supplements his stellar guitar playing by proffering his plaintive vocals to Some Day One Day, while drummer Roger Taylor's hard edged vocals grace his sole composition on the album, The Loser In The End.
Without question, the most ambitious piece on the album is The March Of The Black Queen which finds Queen at their bombastic, pompous best. It would also be fair to say ...Black Queen was the pre-cursor of the band's legendary masterpiece Bohemian Rhapsody, with its many twists and turns of musical styles and moods in the space of six minutes.
As the next Queen album Sheer Heart Attack (released at the end of 1974) proved to be the pivotal album in their career, it is this unheralded, magical masterpiece that shows a talented band on the cusp of greatness with the portent of things to come openly on display for all to see, hear and enjoy.
I've just downloaded the Album a few days ahead of it's release. I have to say, I thought it was going to be hard for them to follow up the masterpiece that was "In Your Honor" But it does a pretty awesome job.
Track Listing
"The Pretender" - 4:29
"Let It Die" - 4:05
"Erase/Replace" - 4:12
"Long Road to Ruin" - 3:44
"Come Alive" - 5:10
"Stranger Things Have Happened" - 5:20
"Cheer Up, Boys (Your Make Up Is Running)" - 3:40
"Summer's End" - 4:37
"Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners" - 2:31
"Statues" - 3:47
"But, Honestly" - 4:35
"Home" - 4:52
The first single from the album "The Pretender" is a complete Riot, Blues fueled Hooks with a sprinkling of Status Quo style Rhythem lines. It's lyrical content is meaningful, the harmonies are mixed but defined. It's no "Everlong" "All My Life" or "Best Of You" but it's still a Pleasure to listen to.
the stand out album tracks for me atm are
"But Honestly" - It's the nice (Seemingly Obligitory by listening to previous albums) Acoustic driven track of the album. There's a nice chimy catchy Riff/Vocal set up Dave and Chris seem to have it pretty tight. Aproaching the middle of the song there is a nice build up and it gets Rockyer to a nice Solo/Interlude ending on a powerful Creshendo.
"Erase Replace" - Typical Rockyness that you would have expected from the Boys. Again it's the usual Foo Fighters stuff but without treading old ground. It's querky but samey at the same time. That's an oxymoron I know but it's something you have to listen to for yourself.
All in all I enjoyed this album. Authough not as good as it's predessor "In Your Honor" It's something inbetween "There is Nothing Left to Lose" and "All My Life" in style but it's still fresh sounding. I'm definately going to buy it when it's released. I believe the release date is the 25th of September.
