I agree with M.I.B. .... That is NOT K.I.T.T. !!!! If anything, it looks like one of the cars they used in the abysmal Team Knight Rider. Yes, it'll probably have the fanboys creaming 'emselves, but these are probably the sort of people that thought that Catwoman was a good movie ( and who think that Airwolf is better than Blue Thunder ).

I just wish Hollywood would start making original films again, instead of trawling out rehashes of old TV shows, sequels, prequels and unnecessary remakes of classic movies.

Just one final point. The only capacity that the Hoff is capable of fulfilling these days is stealing beer from the neighbourhood liquor store. Oh, how the mighty have fallen!!!!

Oh people, dont worry about the Hoff, he still has his music career to fall back on, and dont forget the Pipex adds, even with all the drunkeness of late, the Hoff is still the man. He will probably do the voice of KITT, then people dont have to see him :)

Here is a Pic of the NEW Kitt. Disappointed to say the least

knight-rider-kitt-mustang.jpg

A Mustang?!?!  Also here's the press release to go with it...

As the original story resumes, the new KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand) is absolutely the coolest car ever created: its supercomputer capable of hacking almost any system; its weapons systems efficient; and its body -- thanks to its creator's work and nanotechnology -- is capable of actually shifting shape and color. Plus, its artificial intelligence makes it the ideal crime-fighting partner: logical, precise and possessing infinite knowledge.

Oh dear... Oh Dear....

OK, so this is TV rather than film, and American TV at that. But it's also Knight Rider, the TV movie that may prove to be the pilot for a new series, and anything with Val Kilmer in is news, right? You betcha. So it is that Val Kilmer is replacing Will Arnett as the voice of K.I.T.T. in the new Knight Rider movie, which will, its makers hope, kick off a whole new man-and-his-talking-car series.

Arnett, who you should know from Arrested Development (seriously, go watch it already) but who you're more likely to know from Blades of Glory (wherein he played the sneery ice dancer) or Hot Rod (wherein he played the sneery love rival...there's a theme here). He's also done voice work in Ratatouille (he was scary chef Horst) and, fact fans, was the trailer announcer on Edgar Wright's Don't trailer in Grindhouse. But for years he's voiced adverts for American car manufacturer General Motors, who were less than thrilled when they heard he was doing a voice on the (very) Ford-sponsored Knight Rider reboot. So Arnett is out and Kilmer is in for the show, which is due to air in less than two weeks.

Either one of them would have been interesting for this, but given that the only requirement for K.I.T.T. is that he sound smarter than his driver (in this case played by Justin Bruening, formerly of 'All My Children') either Arnett or Kilmer should be able to do the job.

I expect it will end up on Virgin 1 alongside those other great "new" series; Terminator: The Sarah Connor Cronicles and Blade: The Series...

Well it's pulled in great viewing figures. Shame about the Critical response... From Studio Reporter

Knight Rider appears to be fast-tracked to a regular series slot after it attracted 12.70 million viewers to NBC Sunday night. The two-hour TV movie (described in the industry as a "back-door pilot") based on the '80s series smashed the competition, which included CBS's premiere of Showtime's Dexter, which averaged just 8.1 million viewers. Knight Rider did not perform as well with critics. Writing in today's (Tuesday) Los Angeles Times, Mary McNamara notes that time has not been kind to the series -- that cars actually do talk to their drivers these days. "As with Bionic Woman, technology has out-stripped what was once science fiction. For KITT to have resonance in today's world, the vehicle would have to be equipped for space travel or time travel, read minds or at least have nuclear capabilities. Instead, this car's big claim to fame is it can change colors. Whoopee." Several critics, including McNamara, belittle Val Kilmer's voice-over performance as KITT, the talking car. Matt Roush of TV Guide says that it "served to remind me how William Daniels' haughty line readings was the sole asset of the original series." Kevin Kelly, writing on the sci-fi website io9.com, writes that Kilmer's "monotonal" delivery "lacks all the charm and wit of William Daniels' snotty car voice." He suggests that there's little in the new Knight Rider for sci-fi fans and that if the show actually does become a series, "be sure to look for another weekly opportunity for us to bitch about it."
