Announced last night at UFC 77 Hostile Territory Dana Introduced Lesnar to the crowd.  SO no TNA for him then...  THoughts?

BROCK LESNAR IS THE LATEST HEAVY HITTER IN THE UFC®BROCK LESNAR IS THE LATEST HEAVY HITTER IN THE UFC®

International Superstar Joins Stacked Heavyweight Division Cincinnati, Ohio (USA) International superstar Brock Lesnar has already achieved high grades for his transition from pro wrestling to mixed martial arts. Now the former NCAA Champion and four-time All-American is ready for the next step in his career - taking on the best heavyweights in the world in the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) organization. UFC President Dana White announced the signing of Lesnar to a promotional contract during the pay-per-view broadcast of UFC 77 at the US Bank Arena. I dont think there are any other pro wrestlers that can make the transition to MMA, except for Brock Lesnar, said White.

And if you look at his amateur wrestling credentials, his size, and what hes done, this guy can end up being a force in the heavyweight division of the UFC. If you want to go with the NFL of the fighting game, its the UFC, and it was an easy choice for me, said Lesnar. Obviously I dont think Im ready for a title shot right away, but I will be there, and Im not gonna turn down any opponent because Im here to prove myself. Im not here to pick and choose my fights. Ill fight whomever they want. I dont make the fights; thats not my job. Ive got one job to do and thats to fight. The date and opponent for Lesnars UFC debut will be revealed in the near future. A native of Webster, South Dakota who now makes his home in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, the 6 foot 3 ½ , 265 pound Lesnar first made a name for himself as a wrestler at Webster High School, compiling a 33-0 record in his senior year. This success eventually led him to Bismarck State College and the University of Minnesota, where he was a four-time All American, two-time Big Ten Champion, a second place finisher in the 1999 NCAA Championships, and the 2000 NCAA National Champion. After finishing his college career with an astounding 106-5 record, Lesnar became a household name as a professional wrestler, and even had a short stint in the NFL® with the Minnesota Vikings. In 2007 though, Lesnar was in need of a new challenge in his life, and he turned to mixed martial arts, where world-class wrestlers like himself have had enormous success throughout the sports history. On June 2, 2007, Lesnar made his long-awaited MMA debut and took only 69 seconds to destroy Min Soo Kim with strikes that led to a submission. Lesnars signing to the UFC bolsters a talent-rich heavyweight division that includes former PRIDE heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Minotauro Nogueira, Cheick Kongo, former two-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia, Brandon Vera, Gabriel Gonzaga, Mirko Cro Cop, Fabricio Werdum and Heath Herring.

The news you've all been waiting for when will he first fight?

One of the most highly sought after free agents, Lesnar recently signed a contract to fight for the UFC. He is expected to make his Octagon debut on the promotion's Feb. 2 event on Super Bowl Weekend.
That will be shown on Sunday Feb 3rd on Bravo, I believe that is UFC 81.

Another article about the 'The Pain'

At UFC 77, the promotion announced the official signing of highly sought after heavyweight, Brock Lesnar, who gained much fame and notoriety after a career in the WWE and is now set to debut in the Octagon, likely in early 2008.

Rumors circulated for months who might land the services of the former NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion, but it seemed like the UFC was always the front runner in the competition.

It boils down to theyre really the only company on the block and on the planet that is willing to I guess take Brock Lesnar to the next level, said Lesnar. I think it works good for both the UFC and Brock Lesnar. For me it was quite easy. Other companies, it was just a proven fact on the K-1 event, how poor their promotion was. There was a lot of different things, we kind of left K-1 with a bad taste in our mouths and wanted to come and be part of a professional organization.

Now with his UFC deal firmly in place, Lesnar is ready to answer the hype and let his fighting answer all the questions.

Im very excited, Lesnar stated about his UFC debut. This is a dream come true. This is very exciting for me and my family. Im excited to move on and get in the Octagon and prove myself.

While Lesnar was unable to comment on the length of his contract or fight commitments he made to the UFC, he was able to say he will be there for some time.

Right now it is looking like the UFC may debut the hugely popular Lesnar at their Super Bowl weekend card in February and Lesnar is chomping at the bit for the time to come.

There has been some talk about February, Lesnar confirmed in his interview with MMAWeekly Radio. For me its lets get a date locked in, most importantly lets get an opponent locked in so I can specify my training needs and move forward in that aspect of the game. Right now Im just waiting for that phone call and see what happens.

While no definite names have been mentioned for Lesnars UFC debut, the Minnesota native is anxious to find out and then readying himself for war.

I just want to find out a name, get a face, and be able to watch his previous fights and then just start training everyday to dismantle my opponent.

With guaranteed money on the table from the WWE when he left the organization, Lesnar reassured MMA fans that he is exactly where he wants to be in the UFC, but isnt afraid to face his detractors.

For me this is what I want to do, this is what Im doing and Im not here to make any friends, said Lesnar. Hopefully, Ill be able to prove myself one fight at a time and just go from there.

Latest on his first UFC fight.

Brock Lesnar's first UFC opponent has been agreed upon and should be announced soon according to Dave Meltzer. The opponent was apparently hand picked by Lesnar and is said to pose "significant danger" to him. Sources also indicate that the opponent is a "name fighter" and that it's not Heath Herring, Ken Shamrock, or Brad Imes.

I'm saying either Arlovski or Mir.

Seems you were correct Darth M. It's Frank Mir

In just three months, Brock Lesnar (1-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will make his UFC debut against the organizations former heavyweight champion: Frank Mir (10-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC).

Thomas Gerbasi of UFC.com today reported the fight. Additionally, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned that the fight was first presented to Mir late last week and that he dropped off the bout agreement to Zuffa LLCs Las Vegas offices this afternoon.

The fight is set for UFC 81, which takes place Feb. 2 (SuperBowl weekend) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The heavyweight bout will likely earn co-main-event status.

Lesnar, a former World Wrestling Entertainment performer who also had a short stint with the NFLs Minnesota Vikings, was one of the sports top free agents after a 69-second submission victory over Min Soo Kim in a K-1 HEROâS Dynamite!! USA event this past June. The UFC officially announced that the 6-foot-3, 265-pounder had joined the organization last month during a UFC 77 pay-per-view broadcast.

Although stuck with the label of a professional wrestler, Lesnar own an impressive resume in real wresting. After posting a perfect 33-0 record during his senior year of high school in his native North Dakota, Lesnar went on to become a four-time All-American, a two-time Big Ten champion, and a 2000 NCAA national heavyweight wrestling champion with the University of Minnesota.

The 30-year-old will now face Mir, who won the UFCs vacant heavyweight title in 2004. The legendary UFC fight was stopped in less than a minute when referee Herb Dean noticed that Mir had snapped opponent Tim Sylvias forearm while working an arm-bar submission.

Mirs reign as champ would be short-lived, though.

Just three months after winning the title, Mir was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. The Las Vegas native flew approximately 25 yards from his bike, and bystanders initially thought he was dead. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors determined he had snapped his femur bone in two places and tore numerous tendons in and around his knee.

Mir didnât fight for 16 months while he nursed his injuries, and the UFC stripped him of the title.

The 28-year-olds return to the UFC thus far has been a mixed bag. His 2-2 record includes a lopsided first-round TKO loss to Brandon Vera, but back in August, Mir bounced back for a quick and impressive submission victory (via kimura) over Antoni Hardonk at UFC 74.

With a victory, he could find himself back in the UFCs title picture.

UFC 81, after all, could be one of the most-viewed and best-promoted events in UFC history. UFC officials have already confirmed that the organization will pump additional dollars into specifically marketing Lesnars UFC debut especially to professionally wrestling fans who no doubt will be interested in the performers octagon debut.

UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture, who suffered a broken arm in his UFC 74 victory over Gabriel Gonzaga, was expected to headline UFC 81. However, the UFC hall-of-famer resigned from the organization last month over what he perceived to be a lack of respect from UFC executives. Nonetheless, during a media conference call last week, UFC President Dana White said he plans to offer Couture a UFC 81 main-event fight with top contender Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
