Their's a lose rumor running down the wire that Zuffa is offering Randy Couture an undisclosed amount of money to fight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira this February. While I'm willing to bet the rumor is true,I don't know if Randy will take the fight or not.He claims it's not about the money, which might be true considering he turned down 3 million to fight Fedor in Bodog and went on to fight Tim Silvia for less money in the UFC.We will just have to wait and see what happens.
Rumors are swirling that Antonio "Big Nog" Nogueira will face Tim Sylvia at UFC 81 (The Super Bowl card) for the vacant HW title. I'll let you know if I can get a confirmation...

I thought Big Nog was meant to fight Kongo first? As the other 'Qualifier'. He hardly did well against Herring in his debut plus the majority of UFC fans don't realize what kind of a contender he is.
As much as I like Tanner I think he's another Ken Shamrock rather than a Randy Coture contender. Lifestyle over the last few years have taken their toll on him and Im not sure how good he'll be in the long run. I know they are desperate to bolster the MW Div. But this is a bit too far. I'd like to see Bisping, Cro Cop drop down personally.
Yeah Crocop at light heavy weight would be ideal for him.I mean look at the tale of the tape on him and Gonzaga.Gonzaga had almost,I believe,a good 40lbs on Mirko. That and proper cage training. He can't corner people in the octagon like he's used to in the PRIDE ring.Their's more space to move in the cage.
I also think it's a mistake for Mike Swick to drop down to the overloaded Welterweight Div as well he should stay in the MW. Other than Silva he should od pretty well currently now Okami's gone.
In what can only be described as great news for the UFC they have signed Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. Although I would say as great as this is for the LHW division they still need to bolster their MW div desperately!!!
The UFC 2007 light heavyweight division became the most talent-rich weight class in the world. At UFC 79, which will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on December 29th, fight fans will get a glimpse of the newest addition to the 205-pound ranks as The African Assassin, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, makes his UFC debut against unbeaten sharpshooter Lyoto Machida.
Sokoudjou is an explosive athlete with heavy hands and great judo who is coming off huge back-to-back knockout wins over two top ten guys in Ricardo Arona and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, said UFC President Dana White. Bringing him in just makes the stacked 205-pound division even stronger, and there are endless great matchups for him here in the UFC.
A highly regarded judoka who won the 2001 US Open, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (4-1) moved to the United States from his native Cameroon in 2001, and by 2004, he had turned his attention to mixed martial arts. He made his MMA debut in 2006, and by 2007 he was brought in to fight in the PRIDE organization. It was there that Sokoudjou truly made his mark as he knocked out world-class light heavyweights Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Ricardo Arona in consecutive bouts, with neither fight making it out of the second minute. A member of the renowned Team Quest in California, the 23-year old Sokoudjou comes to the Octagon with great potential and even greater expectations.
Unbeaten in 11 pro fights, Brazils Lyoto Machida is one of the most accurate and technical strikers in the game today. Owner of wins over BJ Penn, Rich Franklin, and Stephan Bonnar, Machida entered the UFC Octagon for the first time in February of 2007 and he has since scored wins over Sam Hoger and David Heath. In September, Machida fought the most impressive fight of his UFC career when he soundly outpointed PRIDE vet Kazuhiro Nakamura. On December 29th, he will be pushed to the limit by the hard-hitting Sokoudjou.
Im looking very forward to this fight, said Machida. I know Sokoudjou doesnt have a lot of fights, but the fights hes had are big, and he has beaten some very big names in this sport. I think this is going to be a great fight, and I am looking forward to winning this fight, and to moving on and fighting for the UFC title.
Machida needs to fight a guy who will come right after him, keep the pressure on him, and set the pace, instead of Machida setting the pace, said White. Sokoudjous that type of guy.
Tickets for UFC 79 - which features the UFC Welterweight Championship bout between Matt Serra and Matt Hughes, and the long-awaited Superfight between Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva are on sale now.
If Machida goes for another one of his bore draw 3 round goto the Judges type affairs it wont. Although I can't see him doing that to Soku, he's too explosive for him.
I agree with you Darth. Machida will not ba able to hold off Soku and take it easy. Soku's young and dynamic and he's having a lot of fun fighting so he will bring it right into Machida's face!
I also agree that Crocop should drop to LH, but he must absolutely win his fight against his own fear first. When he entered the octagon against Kongo, he had that look that said: "Here it goes, I'm gonna get my ass whooped!". Same look Franklin had against Silva 2 months ago. If he can get back to where he was mentally a couple years ago, then he might be a feared and top fighter again. Until then......
I don't agree with this assumption that it's Cro Cop who's at fault for his losses, I'd be more inclined to say that his opponents are doing well to pick out his weak spots. Gonzaga took him down and shocked him with a few elbows before KOing him and Kongo pushed him up against the cage, taking away any threat Cro Cop poses.
OK, there hasn't been much new news, but there are some things. Here are the projected cards/matchups for the upcoming UFC events.

WW Josh Koscheck is scheduled to return to the octagon at UFC 82 on March 1 in Columbus. No opponent was announced for Kos yet, but he is hungry to get back in the win column after a loss to #1 WW contender Georges St. Pierre at UFC 74 in August (from mmamania.com)
Also, WW Jon Fitch will return on this card. It is shaping up to be a great event, with a MW title unification fight already announced between Anderson Silva (UFC Champ) and Dan Henderson (Pride Champ).
